by winewin at Citysearch
I think I will never come back here no more. Actually, I used to be a regular over here until last year, for those song collections but mostly people used to work here. don't know but now all the employees I loved are gone, and now new people "Miss short-tempered and Mr. I don't know and so" always pixx me off. What happen to sing sing?? I'm so sad that I lost one of my favorite places. bye Sing Sing, You say "Singing heal the world"? huh, you ain't heal nothin'!!!

Last saturday I went to a party at sing sing and it's nothing like what is being said. The service was good and I could understand everyone. The prices were fair and the drinks were delicious. Sometimes people have different experiences with situations. We had two rooms downstairs and we all had a great time. The people who work there seemed to be really nice. Listen we had a great time you will too!!!! Everyone has their own opinion which they are entitled to but don't go by what other people say. See for yourself !!!!!!!!
Everybody walks away,,,,,

Last Friday, I had a birthday party at sing sing. When we had a room, I felt that something is so different. We used to come this place a lot and I had few friends used to work here but I didn't see any of them.
We tried to order drinks more then 4 times but no one took our order!!.. After 20 minutes or so, we all got so frustrated and one of our friends got so angry and spoke to the lady at the reception. "use the phone!!" she said..... "use the phone!!!" she just kept saying to use the phone. I got so frustrated and told her that none of them took our orders. (plus they don't speak f**king english)
It's so ridiculous!!!! No one is coming to take orders, that's why I'm asking you mother f**ker!!!
When I looked at the Bar, I didn't know any of the bartenders... "what is going on this place??"
I remember that all the staff used to be so kind ,friendly and also they serve so quickly!!! but nobody is working anymore.... I'm so sad that they are not here anymore.
Where are the professionals??

THEY DO NOT.....REPEAT! DO NOT keep track of when you come in and leave when you have a private room......so you will end up paying the same amount of hours as your friends. We checked in later, and they kept no record. They are crooks. The other reviews below me are pretty much right on.
- Pros: Great song list.
- Cons: Everything else
DO NOT GO HERE!

Sing sing was the biggest disappointment, I have ever encountered. First they show us back to our "karaoke room", which was much more like a dirty closet, then barely explained anything and left. Although they have a great selection of songs, their customer service, prices, and accomodations are awful. They add 18% gratuity to your full bill. And when I say full bill the gratuity includes any drinks you have as well as a 18% gratuity on the room you have already paid $24+ dollars for. I dont remember any other place you pay a gratuity on the room. Numerous times we had to find staff members and ask for them to come take drink orders. The rooms were terribly hot, and had chipped walls, with multiple holes everywhere. Almost every 5 minutes there was someone staring us down through the small window in our door. It felt like we were in quarantine. They may make it seem as though you are catching a great deal. However, the only thing you may catch, is a staph infection
- Pros: song list
- Cons: everything else
Rude, overpriced, and bad service

I walked into this joint on a Monday night about 7pm. This is a quite day and time at most nightclubs, bars, etc.
The chalkboard outside said $7 per person, per hour. When I went inside the very unfriendly employee said it was $8 pp, per hr. I mentioned the sign; he said "Oh that has to be changed". Did I mention the sign was a CHALKBOARD!!!!??? Rather than allow me the $7 rate, he insisted on $8. Ok, so a buck won't destroy me, but still, even supermarkets and department stores will allow the posted price even if it's incorrect. I didn't mind that this place was a dive, but the service was totally lacking. I wasn't sure if it was waiter service or do I get my own drinks at the bar (like Duet 35). I got one drink served to me and my date and asked if they had snacks. He said he has chips and brought a small plate of potato chips (more about this later). The song list was pretty good but some songs had the vocal tracks and nobody there knew how to cut the lead vocals off (I asked to employees). After 3 hours it was time to check out. The charge for the potato chips was $5.00!!!!! I was shocked and thought it was overpriced. He knocked off $2.00 while the pseudo intimidating bouncer stood a bit too close. I wasn't throwing a fit or anything like a violent tantrum, but on a slow day the bouncer had nothing better to do but to look tough.
I've been to karaoke bars/boxes in many cities in many countries but as sh*t holes go, this takes the cake. Being Asian myself, I find that they usually have the best services, but nooooooooooooo!
There are so many better choices in NYC than this dive!
- Pros: decent song list. Springsteen "Thunder Road"!!!!
- Cons: rude, overpriced, bad service
Heinous kke experience

Where to start? The idea of Sing-Sing is good: a place where you can sing out at the bar or get a private room. But once you enter the private room, it all goes downhill. There is a phone in each room that allows you to call right to the bar and order drinks. Great. However, when drinks arrive, there are more than you order. Sure, they don't go to waste, but they add up very quickly. When we went to check out, we were smacked with an outrageous bill that was supposedly itemized, but actually made no sense. While debating the charges, I took out a pen and re-wrote the bill. In the end we were charged nearly $500 for a room that was used by 5 people for 3.5 hours. This was the most ridiculous place I have gone to. There are MUCH better karaoke places out there in the city.
- Pros: Private phone in room for ordering drinks
- Cons: Ridiculous prices, nonsensical billing system, unattentive staff
Weak drinks, rude and barely literate staff, and pay to sing

Sing Sing has done the impossible. They achieved the trifecta of lameness.
I went there about a month ago on the recommendation of a friend. Some friend. First of all, it was barely 5 PM in the afternoon and there were two bouncers all dressed in black at the door. I thought, ok, maybe this place is awesome looking and packed on the inside. Nope, you walk in and it's a small dingy cramped bar and a big screen. Strike one.
I asked the bartender for a drink and she had a very hard-time understanding me. What did I order? Vodka with cranberry on the rocks. What did I get? Cranberry on one rock. Strike two.
I saw a sign indicating a $2.00/song fee. Strike three. I left and this all occured in the span of about 3 minutes.
Sing Sing is to karaoke as The Mets are to baseball.
- Pros: at least nobody beheaded me while i was there
- Cons: its very existence
