I just started training here and I love it! Classes are unlimited for adults so I come every day. I started out to get in shape, but now I know it is much more than that. My confidence is building, balance is better, focus is stronger, and am getting in the best shape of my life!
Pros: Instructors, Environment
Cons: none

psst... the 12:15 lunch class at Manhattan Tae Kwon Do is the bomb... there is no more amazing way to break up the work day than a class with Mr. VanOrden or Ms. Moore. The enthusisam in the dojo is contagious. The supportive nature and positive reinforcement between fellow students and instructors will leave you hooked, wanting more! Classes are specifically tailored to suit each individual student's ability, regardless of age or physical limitations... Stop thinking that it's too hard, that you're too out of shape, that you've never done it before! Just come on in and take a free class. Manhattan Tae Kwon Do is sure to be the best part of your day!
Pros: Amazing Staff, Great Comraderie, Fantastic Workout

I had been looking for a martial arts school for a while, but i just couldn't get myself motivated. I was walking home in Midtown and I stumbled upon a new school on 47th St. I walked in just to look around, and wow, compared to all the other places I had seen, this place is amazing. The owner asked me to take a free class, he even gave me a free uniform (I was in work clothes, lol). I was hooked. Great teacher, great class, great school. The best part was the small class size. Next I have to try the special lunch time classes! I'm going to enjoy the small class size, because I'm sure that won't last once word gets out about this place. Peace (sorry, that's the yogi in me.)
Pros: location, staff, class times

I just signed up for this new school, wow, everything was new. The locker rooms were great, with big showers and towel service. It was a great class / workout, then a great shower and back to the office I went. You have to check out this martial arts school in Midtown Manhattan, it is far and away the best facility in the city.
Pros: location, facility, class size
Cons: none

I'm a student at Manhattan Tae Kwon Do on the West Side. I was on our website and I saw a link to CitySearch, so I thought I would write a review because I just love it. Well, I was so upset to see the review entitled "Dissapointing". I don't know where they went, but it doesn't sound at all like my school. I've always felt very welcome. I love the classes and the teachers. They are very confident, but I wouldn't say they have an ego problem. Besides, who would want to take martial arts from someone who isn't confident in what they know. Please don't discount this school because of one bad review. I love it so much I want to share it with everyone. They offer a free class, so you should try it out. It's so much Fun!
Pros: Fun, Empowering, Good Value
Cons: Larger classes

From the initial phone conversation to the actual free class the instructors created a very relaxed and non intimidating environment. The class was fun, exciting, and a hard work out! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get in shape and learn quality martial arts in the process!
Pros: instruction, location, value
Cons: 3rd floor

I had the exact opposite experience of the previous reviewer. I found the instructors to be patient and humble. At the same time, they were also amazing martial artitsts. Not only did they give me two free lessons, but they didn't pressure me to buy anything at all. Moreover, when I did agree to sign up, they offered a discount and a very flexible payment plan. I would highly recommend MTKD to anyone interested in great training at an affordable price.

I was excited to try the free trial class but was really disappointed. I got there and found that the instructors had big egos and seemed more intent on intimidating the students and trying to prove that they were great martial artists rather than helping people. Then management tried to give me a hard sell and put lots of pressure on me to immediately sign up for more classes. I would avoid this place.

I started a few weeks ago and I've been to both there locations, the classes are great. The staff works with each person so everyone gets something special from every class. I was given a free pass from a friend and it was a great way to try it out for free before joining. There are free passes here on City Search. Great find on the UWS.
Pros: Instuctors, Location, People
