My husband and I both see Dr. Alper. His office is always running on-time, which means we don’t have to sit in the waiting room forever, nor do we have to sit in the chair waiting either. Everything he has done on my husband looks great. I haven’t had any dental work myself. My husband says that everything feels great too. The quality of his work is excellent. The office is very efficient, clean and friendly. I always recommend him to my friends. It’s more expensive, but definitely worth it.
Pros: Excellent work, On-time, Nice Staff.
Cons: Expensive. Fee for same day cancellation.

I came across Dr. Alper in a magazine, I was looking for a new dentst and found what I saw appealing so I went. I had been referred to several dentists in the city by friends and they all turned out to be disasters! The second I walked into his office I knew this was it: a modern setting, Heather behind the desk (is amazing!) and efficiency all around. On the down side the hygenist I had a year ago was a bit gruff and the cleaning less than par BUT the hygenist I had in April 2007 was one of the best I have had in New York in 12 years. As far as Dr. Alper, he is a great dentist. He looks at whats going on and tells you like it is and fixes it. What more could you ask for? He is gentle and thorough and sensitive to pain. Anyone who says otherwise did not speak up when or if they felt discomfort. The man is not a mind reader, but he is a professional and works efficiently and thoroughly. He may not joke around and spend time with small talk but at the end of the day insurance doesn't cover small talk. Thank you Dr. Alper! PS: It doesn't hurt that he is absolutely adorable!!!!!!
Pros: Chair side manner

I like Dr. Alper and his staff. I think that he does a great job every time. I have gone there for a few years now. He is quiet, and seems like he is always concentrating on the task at hand (literaly his hand when he is working on my teeth). I can see why some people think he is not so warm, but I'd rather take a quite deliberate concentrating dentist drilling my teeth than one chatting all the time... Seriously who cares about the dentists golf game. Anyway I have always been pleased with his work, especially the work that he redid for me. I had one crown that another dentist did years ago and never felt good. Dr Alper replaced it and it is so comfortable, I dont even think about it anymore... thats why I go there. The hygieneist (sp?) is really good. I feel like they really have the health of my teeth, and the look of my smile as their top priority. Im almost always seen on time, which is too bad because its the only dentist office Ive ever gone to with good magazines in the waiting room. LOL. I think the people that wrote negative reviews were probably looking for something other than the best dental care when they go to the dentist.
Pros: Professional yet relaxed atmosphere. Great dental work. Super thorough cleanings.
Cons: Expensive

Went to Dr. Alper for a cleaning... the procedure was blah, not very thorough and his technique was not patient friendly... but what really irked me was his attitude. He was unfriendly and a bit on the rude side. When I asked him questions, he replied quite curtly. The receptionist is also quite pushy... thrusting a bunch of business cards to pass along to my friends without even asking how my visit went. Overall, I left very disappointed, teeth that didn't feel clean and would recommend you to go elsewhere.
Pros: website
Cons: unfriendly and rude manners, pushy receptionist, poor technique

I just had my first checkup and cleaning today. One of, if not the best dentist ever. very comfortable modern loft like interior. Everything is super clean and modern. The staff is super outgoing and freindly. Dr Alper was very imformative and didn't make me feel rushed. Susan was the best hygienist ever! I got the referrel from Citysearch, and it worked out better than I could have hoped. This dentist is very thorough. He pointed out very small cavities that my last dentist didn't even mention . very thorough.
Pros: friendly staff. Informative Doctor. Union Square location. baking soda cleaning. "very thorough"...pro or con?
Cons: I've heard it's expensive, but I havn't seen for myself. "very thorough"...pro or con?

My visits to Dr. Alpers office have always been very pleasant (in as much as a visit to the dentist can be!). I first went to him to have a consult about a cosmetic procedure. He recommended a less expensive option and was able to tell me why he thought it would be better in my case. The other dentists I consulted with were ready to start drilling without even discussing any options. His staff is terrific; polite, pleasant, and informative. Sarah the hygeinist cleaned my teeth and did a very thorough job, I like the baking soda sandblast polish. Im very happy to have found this dentist. The office fab too.
Pros: Professionalism, Demeanor, Knowledgable
Cons: Fees

My dental visit to Dr. Alper was below mediocre. Starting off with the facility, he attempted to create an industrial modern look, but it simply appeared stark and cold. These adjectives could easily describe Dr. Alper. His dismeanor was of disinterest and coldness. The cleaning was quite below average and painful. He made no attempts to make me feel comfortable. I felt that he just wanted me out of there ASAP to get to his next patienet (i.e. $ check). I was quite displeased with the overall experience and regretted going to him.
Cons: Technique, Bedside Manner

Dr. Alper is nice, gentle and a great dentist. If you are looking for a high quality denitst, that is calm, nice, thorough than just go to him. He is not cheap, but you get what you pay for as they say.
Pros: High Quality, Gentle, Casual
Cons: Price

Like many people, I had a fear of Dentist, so tensions were high when I first went to see Dr. Alper. All of that has since changed. From the moment I stepped into the office i was greeted warmly by his receptionist, Heather, and offered bottle water. The office was cool, sleek and inviting. Dr. Alper was amazing; no pain with needles, his office is state of the art. He solved my challenging cavitiy problem with his very own technique and avoided me having a root canal. He put me at ease from the very first moment we spoke. Since then I have had my teeth whitetened, and cleaned and I have recommended highly to all of my friends. In short this guy is the real deal and he is a must see. And on a side note if it matter to any of you out there he is gorgeous!
Pros: Painless, Insightful, Very professional

I have seen Dr Alper for more than 3 cleanings and other procedures, but reading the reviews below I wonder if I am more sensitive than most. My biggest gripe is his lack of empathy to a patient's sensitivity to pain. More than once he made me feel like my reactions were unreasonable. In addition, he delivers the news of dental problems hard and cold and with little medical/technical explanation. Much questioning must ensue on the part of the patient. Other than that, his practice is state of the art, the space is modern and stylish, and his manner is calm. My review may be more the result of my personality and a need for a dentist more attuned to patients' feelings.
Pros: Professional, State of the art, Convenient
Cons: , Formal
