Please Do some Research Before deciding
by Grandslam422
I have played baseball for many years and have been told to try out professionally. Every time I would try out for some big team, my eyes would always be the problem. I usually wear contacts when I play, which easily fall out at times, costing me big errors.
Since the league prohibits players from wearing glasses on the field, I have to wear these big nasty goggles, which are very ugly looking and annoying. I finally considered LASIK. I decided to go to 3 places before making my decision.
Park avenue Lasik has to be the worste place out of the 3 places I went to. The staff was rude, very unorganized, and their main goal was to make you book for surgery or lose their jobs! The Doctor seems to be controlling too many things at the same time. More business oriented then medical. He even claims he has a MBA degree. There is not much technology here. They offered LASEK only. I was looking for things other places had like the Intralase, the Wavelight Allegretto CUSTOM wavefront, etc. They did have a red laser that is cool but I don’t see that helping me with my vision.
I was able to actually have my surgery done in two weeks following this consultation at another laser center. Now, I am playing better then ever and the ball has been clearer then I have ever seen. My batting average went up .050 in two weeks and I will eventually try out for a big team again come next season.
- Pros: beautiful red laser
- Cons: everything else
Thanks Park Avenue Laser Vision

I can understand why there are so many positive reviews about Park Avenue Laser Vision. So let’s add another to the list.
Before my surgery I needed my glasses and contact lenses for everything, but now, thanks to Park Avenue Laser Vision, I can do everything without them. My vision is clear and crisp, thanks to Dr. Chynn and Park Avenue Laser Vision in Manhattan.
It was a true pleasure going through the surgery and the results were absolutely amazing.
Kissing my glasses goodbye and welcoming 20/20 vision was totally cool. I’m still amazed when I wake up each morning and can see everything so clearly.
The procedure is very easy and the staff and Doctors are extremely professional throughout the entire process. They use the most advanced laser vision correction equipment in the world today, and the results are incredible.
It’s very relieving knowing that I do not have to go out and purchase eyeglasses or contact lenses anymore.
Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the best gift anyone could have, the gift of perfect vision without glasses. And treat yourself at the best laser vision correction center in the NYC area, which of course is Park Avenue Laser Vision.
- Pros: Perfect Vision, Experienced Doctors
- Cons: None at all
SUPERIOR LASEK CENTER IN USA
by eaglevision
Do you want perfect vision without glasses?
Do you want your surgery performed by an incredibly highly qualified ophthalmologist?
Do you want excellent patient care before, during and after your surgery?
Do you want a very safe, no cut, no flap, advanced procedure that is specialized by the Harvard trained doctor performing your surgery?
Do you want supreme results that will take your breath away?
If you answered yes to these questions, then you definitely want to visit Park Avenue Laser Vision in New York City, led by the Master of LASEK and Harvard trained surgeon, Dr. Emil Chynn.
The beauty of Park Avenue Laser Vision is they specifically specialize in CustomVue LASEK, the new and most advanced Non-Cutting laser vision correction surgery in the world. 100 percent of patients are legal to drive and most patients are either 20/20 or even better. The equipment is highly advanced, the staff is highly professional and Dr. Chynn is second to none.
After wearing glasses for 20 years and visiting Park Avenue Laser Vision for just 1 time, I already knew this was the place that would enhance my life and vision forever.
Dr. Chynn was cool, calm, collective, forthright and honest, exactly how you would expect an expert at what he does act. It was an easy decision to choose Park Avenue Laser Vision for my LASEK surgery, and I am delighted to say my vision is 20/20, I am seeing better now than I ever did with glasses or contacts, and happy to awake each morning with the gift of perfect vision.
The appealing aspect of LASEK is there is no corneal flap, making a flap complication impossible.
Get ready to enter the future with crystal clear vision. It’s a beautiful experience.
- Pros: Specifically Specialize in LASEK, Top Notch Results
- Cons: None
Jonathan's review on his Epi-LASEK surgery by Dr. Chynn
by JRoadZ
I had my Epi-LASEK surgery the Wednesday before Memorial Day (5/20/09) so I could heal during the long weekend, and be back at work that Tuesday. It was done at Park Avenue Laser Vision (www[dot]parkavenuelaser[dot]com) to correct my Rx of OS -3.25 and OD -3.75. I posted a YouTube video (username: "herbrock17") The POV shown was not the DVD Dr. Chynn provides you of your surgery from the camera attached to the laser. My DVD was accidentally ejected by one of the receptionists...I'm actually glad my wife was with me in the O.R. recording everything with our camcorder...from being prepped for surgery, everything in between, to the end. I like this better actually!!
How did I come to choose having my surgery at Park Avenue Laser Vision, you ask?? I did a TON of research prior to selecting Dr Chynn. First was the no cutting, no flap LASEK procedure (different from LASIK).
Second was Dr Chynn's credentials (Dartmouth, Columbia, Harvard, Emory, NYU...and he's a member of MENSA)!!
Third is he has 12,000+ cases under his belt with ZERO LAWSUITS for complications... compare that to a certain other LASIK practice that advertises on NYC radio stations, but who has almost 100 pending lawsuits for flap complications, etc.
Fourth, at Park Avenue Laser Vision are DOCTORS who went to medical school who do your eye tests and CustomVue scans versus the TECHNICIANS at other practices who have not gone to medical school.
And the list goes on of why me and my friend chose Park Avenue Laser Vision. The only CON ("fair and balanced" review) is the recovery time for LASEK (no flap- your epithelial cells need to regrow) takes about 4 days longer than LASIK (with a flap and where 90% of complications occur). Just imagine if you play contact sports and your flap gets dislodged!?!?! Or if you're at the local bar and [insert your favorite sports team here] wins, and the person next to you cheering in excitement elbows you in the eye!?!? AREN'T YOUR ONLY PAIR OF EYES WORTH IT????
Another CON (again, "fair and balanced"...) is the Post-Op meds cost me about $160 out of pocket, and that's with my firm's Caremark Rx insurance.
Myself, had my surgery on a Wednesday before Memorial Day (5/20/09) after work...I went back to work on the following Tuesday. I also was mentally preparing myself for SCRATCHY SAND-LIKE PAIN for a few days after surgery, and had NONE OF THAT!! The worst of it was 1-2 days of the feeling of a folded contact lens underneath my eyelid.
Feel free to email or contact me if any additional questions.
Peace all!!
- Pros: Read review: No Flap, Dr Chynn's credentials, perfect record
- Cons: LasEK takes ~4 more days to heal than LasIK but worth it
GLASSES & CONTACTS FREEEEEEEEE
by doctortracyng
I had LASEK eye surgery about 1 month ago by Dr. Emil Chynn from Park Avenue Laser.
The experience was great and I am very happy to say after one week, I was 20/30 already! My original prescription of my contacts was - 8.50 while my glasses were - 10.00.
It is truly amazing how I can wake up and see everything in my room in the morning! I can now even save time getting ready without putting contacts on! I'm going to Costa Rica next week for a surfing trip and I get to see surf and swim hassle free!
The surgery was pretty quick. There are pre-op tests done before hand but the whole procedure under the laser was 60 secs per eye! Dr. Chynn lets your bring your favorite CD or iPod in to play in the background to make you more relaxed. I even have a video of my surgery if you guys want to see it =)
My prescription is pretty high compare to the average person. Dr. Chynn says after one month, you will have good vision and after 3 months, you will have your best vision. Since I am younger than 30 years old, he also overcorrected my vision so in the long run I can still have perfect vision!
My whole family has gone through LASEK from Dr. Chynn: Father, Sister, Uncle, Aunt & Boyfriend. We have referred many people and all of them still have 20/20. My uncle first had it done 4 years ago then my Dad 3 years ago. My sister, boyfriend, and Aunt - 2 years ago. They are all doing great!
Here is some information on the LASEK eye surgeon - from his website: www.parkavenuelaser
Emil William Chynn, MD is New York City's most experienced No-Cut, No-Flap, All-Laser surgeon!
Was the 1st laser surgeon in NYC to stop performing the older, cutting LASIK procedure (in 2003)
Was the 1st surgeon in NYC to perform exclusively the more modern, safer, less invasive, No-Cut, No-Flap, All-Laser LASEK and epi-LASEK procedures
He performs over 1,000 non-cutting procedures each and every year—more non-cutting procedures than any other laser vision correction surgeon in NYC
- Pros: BEST LASEK SURGEON - LASEK 5 other people in my family
- Cons: NONE

had my eyes lasered at Park Avenue Laser Vision three months ago, and now I see 20/20. My prescription was moderate (around -4.50 in both eyes). I chose LASEK so that I don’t have to worry about flap complications during and after surgery, and Dr. Chynn is the only surgeon in NYC that offers LASEK. I didn’t feel any pain during the procedure. My eyes were dry for a couple of weeks but that is normal after surgery. The doctors are great. They answered all of my questions and did not charge me for the punctual plugs. It has been a wonderful experience for me to be able to see without glasses. If you decide to get lasered at Park Avenue Laser Vision take the advantage to ask questions and the doctors are more than willing to answer all questions.
- Pros: good services
Seeing Clearly Now!
by DorianHellfire
I had my no cut lasek done 3/13 (Yes, Friday the 13th!) and it was absolutely successful ♥
The staff were so helpful, especially with the fact that they, themselves, had the procedure done as well so I didn't hesitate to ask them questions about what goes on, how it went for them or anything. The atmosphere was so welcoming and the procedure took less than a minute per eye!
Not only the staff but the doctors are helpful as well. Dr. Chynn's office participates in helping Fellows learn the procedure so there's no nurses or technicians. Only doctors seeing you and getting to know you.
I'm so grateful to everyone there and to Dr. Chynn for making this possible for me. I have a fairly strong prescription and spent so much money on glasses (at least $200 for lenses alone!) and you can forget about contacts. I can't even wear them b/c my eyes would get so irritated D:
It's exactly 1 week since I've had the contact bandages removed and I'm doing great!
- Pros: Convenient location, friendly staff and doctors
- Cons: Can be busy at times (really a good thing *lol*)
Great Laser Vision Practice!!!!

After a friend got the Lasek surgery, I was happy to go for my free consultation. I have worn glasses since the third grade, and contacts since seventh so after 20+ years of putting up with glasses and contacts and being extremely frustrated while skiing, swimming, boating or fishing I was thrilled to learn that I was in fact a candidate.
Drs. Alameda and Puri were very very helpful throughout all the consultations, carefully explaining the entire process, all of the medications, and the ancillary treatments such as the importance of using a cool mist humidifier, punctal plugs, and the re-wetting drops. When I met Dr. Chynn, I was very impressed with his attention to detail in regard to my previous eye exams, and for the care and concern he places in all of his patients.
On the day of the surgery, everyone on staff was very accommodating and made me feel very relaxed. Believe it or not, the surgery was over in a virtual instant, and I cannot explain the joy I felt upon sitting up to be able to read a sign across the street without the help of glasses. I was very overwhelmed, and welled up with tears (which, of course, is excellent for the healing process).
It has been just about three months since my surgery, and I am seeing 20/20 in both eyes and each day I feel like my vision is even getting sharper. I keep up with the drops as ordered, and other than some occasional dryness i barely even remember I got the surgery, which I suppose is the best recommendation I can give.
Please, do yourself and your family a favor. Get the Lasek surgery. My sister-in-law got it done last Thursday and she too is thrilled. It will be the best investment you will ever make in your health and wellness!
- Pros: Excellent patient care, prep and follow up!
