Best burger in the world !!
by thinkbox at Citysearch
Me and my friends come all the way from Brooklyn to eat Blue 9 Burgers,
They are simply one of the best burgers in town
- Pros: So tasty
- Cons: the plase is a little small
In NYC this might be as good as it gets...

Same formula as In-N-Out, you can even order using in-n-out terminology... Not quite as addictive, and the consistancy is not nearly the same. Somedays it's perfectly put together, and other days not so much.
The biggest difference is the service and cleanliness. Typical NY attitude here, unfriendly, not so clean cut workers instead of the cute girls at In-N-Out. Chaos in the kitchen and food all over the place is a huge contrast to it's California counterpart. Also I had to take back my burger for them to get it right almost every time (even though the receipt had my order correctly).
Still, it's NYC and for us poor Californians who were woo'd here for the big bux (no other reason to move to this filthy hellhole) this is the closest we'll get without having to deal with the nearly unusable airports.
- Pros: Food is great
- Cons: Order accuracy, and employee attitude just not on par with in-out, dirty
Simple Burger, Real Fries, Cheap for NY
by misderdix at Citysearch
So I used to Live in LA and then I moved to NY and now I'm back in LA. I've had the burger drama and here's where blue 9 fits in. In the city its the best place for a quick burger and fries with no lines, and a side of extra sauce doesn't cost anything. Fashioned after In n Out but still has its own charm, real potatoes in the fries and the burgers are great. It they opened a location in Madison Square Park, Shake Shack would be out of business in 6 months.
I eat here weekly... it's THAT good!

I am a die hard fan of this place. I like the burgers at Shake Shak, but Blue 9's are better. They aren't nearly as oily or crumbly and you don't have to eat them in the cold or stand in line for 20 minutes to get your food. I suggest getting your burger medieval style and slathering on extra mango chili sauce. They really should bottle and sell the mango chili sauce that they provide alongside the ketchup -- it's really good and I love it on both the fries and the burgers.
- Pros: burgers, fries, sauce
- Cons: the dining area needs an overhaul
Doesn't compare to In'n'Out
by gumbercules at Citysearch
I have to agree, this place doesn't come close to In'n'Out. It certainly tries to copy In'n'Out's style, but really fails to deliver.
One reason is that they're quite sloppy at Blue 9. The times I've been to Blue 9, I was the only one there; despite making only one burger, it looked like the guy was blindfolded when he assembled my burger; I always have to open up my burger and reassemble it myself. In'n'Out manages to prepare dozens of burgers at a time and still assemble them with consistent quality.
The other reason is that the ingredients don't seem as fresh as they advertise at Blue 9. I get the impression that they get the stuff fresh each day, but then it sits around in the open all day. Contrast that to In'n'Out, where you can see them prepping all the ingredients as they make the burgers. So while its technically fresh at Blue 9, they don't go the extra mile like In'n'Out does and prep the ingredients right before they make the burger.
Despite all that, its a decent hamburger. But I have to question whether people comparing it to In'n'Out have actually ever been to In'n'Out.
- Pros: cheap, decent burger
- Cons: sloppy, dingy surroundings
Stay away

Definitely NOT In-N-Out
by defyinggravity05 at Citysearch
Um, if anyone ever tells you that Blue 9 is like In-N-Out... they're lying. BADLY. I'm from Arizona (the second place to get In-N-Out, and I've been to the original one in Cali), and In-N-Out basically DESTROYS Blue 9. I mean sure, if you want a $3 burger moderately quickly, it's a good place to go (especially for college kids), but other than that... The burger is pretty bland, the sauce isn't too flavorful, plus watery iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. . The fries were pretty unexciting as well, and tasted as though they'd been sitting out for a while... (but it looked like they had just finished a new batch for the couple of people after us, so it may have been a fluke). I will admit though, the chocolate shake was quite yummy (not as good as In-N-Out's though...). Still, to use In-N-Out and Blue 9 in the same sentence is tastelessly insulting to In-N-Out.
- Pros: good chocolate shake, cheap
- Cons: burgers were pretty bland, fries tasted old, kind of dirty inside...
Great burger, horrible staff
by rpramosjr at Citysearch
These guys do a great job bringing the California style burger to NY. Everything about the food is great but its too bad they had to hire the Wendy's reject staff to run the place. First, the staff could care less about you, your food and the cleanliness of the place. They do care about making sure they all spend as much time in the back room as possible to talk and ignore those waiting to order.
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: staff
best burger on the block
by jsac at Citysearch
I could see why this place would be popular and appealing for those who have never tasted in and out burgers. Unfortunately, having lived off of in and out burgers in college, this place just doesnt cut it, even if it is cheap. The fries and burgers are not fresh and crisp tasting like the cali joint. Having said that, if I lived in the neighborhood, I would still probably stop by here at least twice a month for a bite because its cheap and quick.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: doesnt taste fresh
