Awful

I went here last Saturday. After having our bags, wallets checked for a while, my friend was let in. She was wearing a dress. I was wearing jeans, and the woman told me to hold up my arms. I said, "Are you kidding me?" She said, "No ma'am" and proceeded to touch my entire body. (I was not packing a gun in my bra. Did she really have to touch my breasts??) It happened so fast that I didn't have time to react. I grabbed my friend, and we left.

• Cons: Basically strip searched at the door

Cielo is still king of the hood

I had come to Cielo 3 years ago and have a good time with my then boyfriend. now that i'm single and my girls and i like to party in the meat packing district, we decided to give Cielo a try again. Thank God we did. That hot boy at the door is a breath of fresh air in regards to the asses around town. i'd heard he was tough and remember him from the last time but he was so sweet to us (although we had to pay). ): the dj was pretty good, think his name was Ted paterson but the sound was insane. i dont remember leaving but that's a good thing sometimes. i'll definately be back to cielo . do they own any other places in the city?

• Pros: sound system, cutie at the door (looks like Lex Luthor).

The worst place in the country

We were one of the first people there. Dressed to the nines. Conceited doorman still insisted we purchase bottle service. There was nobody there and the music sucked!! I have been to dance clubs all over the country and all over the world and I would rate this the WORST club ever!!!! C'mon, this is no Studio 54! Get over yourselves! ANY place in NYC is better than this club!

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!! This place will be out of business in less than a year!!

still the best club in town

whoever is writing these disgusting emails bashing CIELO should be ashamed of yourself. Nicolas Matar is a genius and the staff he hired has been the same since the day they opened the door. maybe all of you angry haters should behave like gentleman and ladies when trying to gain entry instead of name-dropping and barking commands to the door people. also, try dressing up one in a while and leaving your 4 buddies at home. come on people, get with the times. Yes, Cielo might be difficult to get in on some nights but with the right attitude and just being a pleasant human being, you might actually get to hear the wonderful sounds that come from those speakers for once.

CIELO, please continue to do what you do and forget what these idiots say. hey weren't the ones who made you what you are and they'll be the first to go to the next wannabe Cielo when it opens.

I will be so happy if this review will change anything but it will certainly don't :-(

I had a "very bad experience" with your door person ... again!

I wish I can do something to make this club to be a better place.

I will stay in incognito for now but CIELO turn me to something bitter.

We will see who going to laugh at the end ...

Thanksgiving Night at Cielo with Danny Tenaglia

I had such a blast on Thanksgiving at Danny Tenaglia! The room was packed, but not so you could not move. Cielo is always a great time, and the DJs bring their A game every time I go. I definitely recommend this club for music lovers - the bridge-and-tunnel quotient is low, and the energy is high. A++.

Upsetting night

i thought i would never have to give a bad review to this club, but sad to say i will never be comming back to this place after getting disrespected and embarressed at the door. i knew all the doormen and everyone inside. i walked into a full on frisk and search of me and my friends handbags. we obviously didnt have anything. but the woman who was frisking my friend wouldn't let us in and on top of it had nothing to prove that we had anything. and we didn't!! way to let innocent good looking girls not in your club b.c you THINK we are guilty of something and have nothing to show for it. we don't do anything illegal. she looked at her chap stick and then kicked us out saying we are not allowed in the club. what the h*** is going on with this club?? this used to be my favorite club. i got embaresed by all the people i know at the door and my friends outside who thought i brought something illegal in or whatever. and i didn't. lesson for next time Cielo if you are accusing someone of something maybe you should actually tell the person or show the person what they have that is not letting them in the place. i'm left baffeled still 2 days later b/c we don't understand what happend. i could go on about this forever but ill leave it at that. Rediculous

I say bestie because this club is a true audiophile and dancers best friend. If you can't get in then go somewhere else because there is no budging the security. If you are a hottie then bring all your girlfriends and be prepared for the night of your life.

Let's set the scene. A group of 9 very well dressed and attractive young 20-somethings, having waited on line for over an hour on a Saturday night, are yelled at and berated by a bouncer. Why? Because they won't pay a GRAND for a " 3 bottle minimum." If the group had split themselves into parties of two and three, they would not have had a problem getting in. Only because of the large party size were they ordered to commit to a 3 bottle minimum so they would be allowed in. Absolutely ridiculous. This was a quiet group on line causing no trouble, with the majority of people dressed in designer labels! There was absolutely NO reason why they should have been turned away. Apparently this place is great during the week but if you're planning on going on a Saturday night, prepare yourself to be ripped off or told to "step away." Give me a break. In this economy, they should be a hell of a lot more courteous to their target audience. Unbelievable. Could not have been more rude.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER IN NYC AND I'VE LIVED HERE MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!

I had emailed a week in advance about the night I wanted to have my 25th birthday party at Cielo. I informed them there would be 10 people there and we were interested in a table. "Shu de Jong" emailed me back and said $390 a bottle, minimum 3 bottles if we wanted a table. I said this was a little steep for me, so we wanted to know if we just went and didn't get a table, was there a guest list for the cover charge. He said no. Never mentioning that it would be bottle service only that night if we wanted admission into the club. I arrive to Cielo at 1030 on the night of my birthday party and the bouncers claim there is a private party going on until 1130. This is fine and we go to Buddha bar for some drinks in the meantime. We come back and stand in line for an HOUR and once we get the front, the bouncer says we can only be let in if we purchase at least 3 bottles ($390x3) and we are taken aback. The bouncer continues to yell at us until we "step aside". As I am upset, the bouncers continue to yell at us and tell us we can't even stand in front of the club while we figure out what we are going to do now. "Shu du jong", who I had been emailing earlier in the week, comes up and says he has us down for three bottles and a table! We never asked for that!!!! Cielo may be claimed as a great NYC club, but I will NEVER EVER go back there ever again. The customer service is horrific and it's nothing but some overly confident too hot on themselves jerks who are rude and treat others who don't want to drop thousands of dollars at their establishment as peons. You are so much better off going to any other club in the city- Cielo is a waste of your time and hard earned money.
