I was very charmed by the atmosphere - it really makes you feel at ease. The stylist was friendly and professional . The experience was very far from the dreaded snobby New York salon visit. There was completely NO buying pressure, which I appreciated. A very good experience! Definitely I will be back again.
Pros: customer service, professionalism, relaxing atmosphere

Christo 5th Ave is the best hair salon that I have been to in NY. I was going back to work after some time and needed a revamp. My husband randomly found the salon on the internet , and based purely on the location and reviews I decided to take a leap of faith . I am very picky with my hair and after viewing the end product I was thoroughly impressed. Christo is a brilliant stylist. He has an easy going personality and makes you feel welcome . I gave him free reign over the cut and I loved the outcome. I also loved the little tips that he gave me on ways to achieve versatility with my haircut. I am ecstatic that I have found a reasonably priced , great salon with great staff.
Pros: gracious staffs
Cons: none

When a client gets in the salon, what they want is stylist’s consultation rather than any compliment. Here in Curlisto 5th Ave, The stylist whose name is Cypriano gave me the advice according to my needs in the daily life. I really had an amazing experience at this salon.

I have been getting my haircut by Cypriano, Cypriano’s haircuts are always perfect and you will be amazed how great your hair is even when you get home and style it yourself- its about the cut. I highly recommended Cypriano.

Everyone was so gracious, warm and friendly in Curlisto 5th Ave. . But, let me tell you about Christo, great guy, great conversationalist. Not only is he caring but he has a genuine desire to please his clients. I really love this place.

Some people are good either at cut or color. I followed Christo for several years now and have always loved. He is the best stylist in the world. Sometimes I dont even know what I want and he helps me figure it out. He is honest to every walk-in client and will let you know what he thinks and judging by his own style that means a lot. He has got me to wear my hair curly when I didnt think it was possible! He knows his products and showed me how so I can achieve my look on my own and not in his presence.

After reading all those good reviews i decided to try. I have long, blond, curly hair. My hair in a great shape and i am trying to grow it! The first thing i told Cypriano is that i do NOT want to cut my hair for more than 2inches! even 1inch is enough it told him!! I told him that I do trim my hair regularly a LITTLE BIT! only a little bit! Guess what?! Cypriano trimmed 4 -5inches!!! 4-5inches!!!! I cannot believe my eyes!!!!!! I've been crying for a week now:((( i am devastated! but cannot do anything.... On an average, hair grows at the rate of 6 inches annually!!! only 6inches per year. He trimmed almost a year growth!!!!!! In addition, i was charged $200. If you love your LONG hair don't go there!!! A professional hairstylist should listen to your needs!!!!!! Trust me i told Cypriano (supposedly the top specialist) as minimum as 4 times that he do NOT want him to cut my hair for more that 2inches top!!! I've been through a number of hair salons and i have to say the only good thing about Curlisto is a smart marketing and, yes, good products. Their products are good. My best advice, go there to style your hair for a wedding or other event, maybe, buy a lotion or anything else you like to use. BUT do NOT trust them in trimming your hair!!!!!!!!!!! Especially if your goal is to cut it a bit!
Pros: Good products
Cons: Don't listen your needs! horrible haircut!

I went there today for the third time and am convinced that this is the best curly hair salon in the city. I used to go to Prive and switched to Christo's about six months ago desperate to finally see someone who knew what to do with curly hair. I have tried the bio-softening treatment twice now and it has changed my life. I used to be someone who was constantly straightening and now I wear my hair curly more than straight. I was reluctant to try anything that was chemical based but this treatment is so light and lasts for six months. It is amazing. In addition, their products and cuts are great. I wear my hair both curly and straight and they are able to cut it so it looks good both ways. AND they teach you how to maintain your hair so it looks just as good when you do it at home. I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE STYLIST TAMEEKA. SHE IS GREAT!

Ive just gotten the best color Ive ever had!! Yesterday I went to Christo's 5th avenue and had my hair colored by Michael. He was great. He gave me a few different choices and suggestions. We decided to darken my color to a deep brown and the he put in a sprinkling of highligt around the face. It was exactly what I needed and my husband loves it and hes hard to get a copliment form. lol. I couldnt be happier. Martha

Well, just came back from Christo's with my 9 year old daughter and I cant say enough about the salon. My daughter is multiracial with extremely tight curly hair which you cant even get a comb though. We had a consultation with Tameeka. She was terrific , she spent so much time with us. She suggested an Anti Frizz treatment, a sort of very light chemical type treatment(I think) that was going to loosen up the curl. I was really on the fence with this because I see what chemicals do to hair and I certainly didnt want any type of relaxer in her hair. She assured me it wasnt a relaxer so I went with it. It turned out great!!! The smile on my daughters face was worth every penny of the service(expensive , especially when you add the products on that you need to buy to maintain style) She looks great , her hair has movement for the first time. But the best thing about the salon was the friendlness of everyone from the gentleman at the reception desk to all the assistants. Christo was great and spoke with me for awhile even though he was busy and we were not his clients. We love Tameeka , she was so patient, and did a great job. Great place, Great people. See ya in 6 months Tameeka!! thanks again. Sarah's Mom
Pros: everything, salon , atmosphere, personel, service
Cons: nothing really, maybe the price, slightly expensive, but worth it
