Overrated - Good for drinks - skip dinner

based on the reviews posted here, I had high expectations for Lea - instead I was truly disappointed. I guess natash9257 doesn't get out often enough if she thinks Lea has the best sushi. I went on a Thursday night and the place was happening - good atmosphere - however that was spoiled by subpar service and mediocre food. there are too many other good places to waste your time on this one. lea is good for drinks but make your dinner destination somewhere else.

Holy %&#@! Had the best time in my life.

I went out on a date last week and my date introduced me to Lea, I don't know where the heck all of these negative reviews come from, maybe they were written by miserable, fat ,insecure women with no self esteem. Lea has the best sushi I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The service provided by these elite looking women was spectacular, and I have never encountered such a seductive ambiance. The manager was super friendly and extremely tentative, she offered us a drink on the house and even gave us a free Tapas dish to try out. If you're looking to woo someone and offer them a good time, I would recommend Lea any day.

All New york - all fun

Lea is one of my favorite place to take guests. It is ALWAYS fun. The waitresses are always stunning and sweet. (Needless to say my guy friends love it here) The new manager, told us that they are going to start pluggin in the "Wii" Monday nights and WE WILL BE THERE!! It's hidden in the east walkway on park ave, and it is awesome! Dont forget the sushi!! Some people dont even know about it...but i tell my guests this : think of your favorite sushi place - and try Lea's - it WILL beat it, without a doubt in my mind. Ladies this is THE meet spot. Trust. ;)

Over rated

The service was sub-par. We printed off a coupon from CitySearch's website, which was for Monday's buy one glass of wine get one free, expiration date 12/08. Today is 6/30/08. They refused to accept the coupon (which contained a bar code). In addition, not only did they get our order wrong but charged us $3.00 for a diet coke the side of a large shot glass!!!!! Save your $$$$ and skip this place. Skip it go to Divine Bar instead!

Great food, friendly staff, customers who never sit down

The place is hard to find, hidden away in an alley UNDER the highway. The bar is small, with friendly staff, and the new breed of customer that NEVER SITS DOWN if they're not eating. We've seen it before, starting a couple months ago. Ai thinks it's a new young people's fashion. STAY STANDING WITH A BEER IN YOUR HAND... EVEN IF ALL THE TABLES ARE EMPTY. I don't get it. Maybe it means you're tough and don't have to sit down. Maybe it's a way of avoiding a table tip and sticking to a dollar a drink. I donno. Can someone fill me in on this? By the way, the food was excellent, if a bit pricey. Tortilla pizzas, toast with lox and prosciutto. The staff was friendly and tolerant of us moving around. The crowd thinned out at 10:45. I guess that's when the train leaves to wherever. I say, let the idiots stand, take a table and enjoy yourself! --Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NYC drinkers.

Nice spot

I went there with few of my friends "around 6 of us" the staff there were accommodating and friendly. I have to say though that the service was a bit slow but it was busy and i don't think there were enough waitresses there.

The ambience is nice and it's a good social place too.

Def. will be back

Friendly bartenders!!!

This place is a great after work spot, right under the Hemsley Building on Park Ave - a hidden gem indeed! The food is great! If you order sushi, ask the chef for his orange "special" sauce. DELICIOUS!!! I'm not sure why some people below complained about the service being slow. Sure it gets busy sometimes, but overall I've had exceptional service. I'm definitely coming back!

Like Alice finding Wonderland, you have to want to find Lea, boy did I ever

After nearly being crushed by a city bus and running into an ex with a new much more attractive and successful mate, it was time for a drink or three. Somehow instead of taking my usual route home I walk under the East Helmsley Parkway and saw three gold letters on a black door spelling ?LEA?. The combination of this bad day and my curious nature pulled me in. I was surprised to find myself in an adult?s version of Walt Disney?s ?It?s a Small World?. There must have been a waitress or bartender from every continent, not to mention a circumnavigating wine selection. It was strangely enlightening to see so many happy people in one place. I just figured they put something in the water, so naturally I had a glass. Sure enough, even the water tastes better at Lea. Lea was exactly what I needed! After my second ?21 year old single malt scotch whisky?, an order of garlic shrimp with guacamole sauce, and lamb-chops, that?s right lamp-chops I said it, it was time to call it a night. This may sound a tad bit fantastical, but I swear when I got back to my apt my hair-line stopped receding and my man-ness grew a few if you know what I mean! Now I?m not one to write reviews or even use the Internet, whatever it is, but after an experience like that?I think the whole world has a right to know about those three gold letters!

all-aroud great place to be!!

I have been a regular at Lea the past year and am always satisfied. The staff is very friendly and service is great... drinks are always on the table within 5 minutes of ordering. I've also had some of the best sushi here. I love the atmosphere as each night is always a new experience...the waitresses are always happy and having a good time along with the customers. I think this is important because each time i come in it makes me feel welcome. I would strongly recommend checking it out.
