We'd walked by Radio City Music Hall so many times and not once did we manage to set foot inside.

We decided to change that and play tourist; we signed up for the Radio City Stage Door Tour....while the tour was at times very hokey (meeting a Rockette and taking pictures with said Rockette) overall is was a wonderful tour and a great learning experience. We really enjoyed learning more about the inner workings of Radio City and more about the history of the building, the people, and the shows held inside. Don't miss this tour in you're at all interested in Radio City Music Hall.

My wife and I come to NYC every year from Florida and bring our adult kids as part of their Christmas gift. We go to the Christmas Spectacular every year, even though the show was pretty much the same until the 75th. No matter; great show in a spectacular venue. Live camels in the Nativity scene!

The building itself is magnificent. Absolute must see. New York, New York.

  • Pros: Every seat is a good buy
  • Cons: Not enough time to look around

Radio City Music Hall is still one of the best Christmas traditions. My mom went every year when she was small and she finally took me to see the Rockettes and the theatre. It is absolutely beautiful and the show was a lot of fun. I can't believe the stage is large enough for live animals in the show. I would go every year if I could.

Radio City itself is a beautiful place and well worth a ticket price to enjoy it. We saw the Christmas Spectacular there 12.18.06. The building is super and the show was amazing as well. The tickets were only $80 total and it was worth every penny!

  • Pros: Amazing sight, sound, and ambience!

The Overview
Radio City Music Hall was built as part of midtown Manhattan's Rockefeller Center complex in 1932. In 1979, it was declared a landmark and saved from threat of demolition. The theater has undergone extensive restoration in recent years, including the recreation of the "History of Theatre" wall covering inside the auditorium, replacement of all 5,901 seats and re-leafing of the ceilings.

The Draw
These days, the theater stages star-studded events ranging from the Grammy Awards to the Moscow Circus, and even occasionally plays home court for the New York Liberty women's basketball team. But the staple of this American stage has always been the Rockettes, a team of 36 long-legged dancers, and their annual "Radio City Christmas Spectacular."

This has to be the best venue to see a concert. I saw Josh Groban at Radio City Music Hall and it was by far the best show I have ever seen. The sound at Radio City was incredible. There really isn't a bad seat in the place. The one negative is that the seats are very tight...your knees hit the seat in front of you. But you forget about that once you hear the sound of the music. We had an incredible time! Can't wait to go back.

Radio City Music Hall is a must visit for everyone, New yorkers and non new yorkers alike. Especially around the holidays when teh Christmas Spectaular is playing! I go yearly and I enjoy it very much each time - its a fantastic live performance that is well worth the price of admission. Good for all ages, I went with a 7 year old and she had a great time and didnt complain once about being bored.

New York City is famous for very little more than Radio City Music Hall and its dancing Rockettes. Sure, Radio City has more than just the Christmas show, but let's be real, the Christmas show is what people are coming to see. This historical theater is huge and allows everyone in the theater to see, regardless of where your seat is. The sound coming through the theater is excellent, and you're guaranteed to have a good time no matter what you see!
