Food is Innovative and Reasonable Priced

Stumbled into this cute restaurant early last week. Not a busy nite, but the flavors were great. Wines were reasonably priced and server was knowledgeable with pairing a bottle with what we ordered. The doors were open and there was a great breeze and we felt like we were transported off of Clinton Street.

If Falai, Alias, Tides, Clinton St Baking Company, Il Bagatto, Max's, Frankies Spuntino and Schiller's are full, not a bad place for a meal.

As good as the best

I don t really know waht Chubo means , but those guys in the kitchen, they know what they re doing!

I went there for my wife's Bday and let me tell you that I found real funny that the food is as precise than in THE most famous restaurant in town, yes ! They use, uzu, soba , Chilian Seabass, hudson valley duck and more that I don t remember! ( my wife does !!! )

It looks like this restaurant is very quiet during the week ( I love that ! ) and way too crowded on fridays and saturdays , so choose what kind of atmosphere you like , but don t miss it!

Tasty, but needs work...

I had my small birthday dinner there. I spoke to the owner/manager (not sure) over the phone to make a reservation. He was very sweet and accomodating. He took all my info and we "shook hands". The next day I get a phone call from someone else, also very nice, asking my for my credit card number. I politely refused to give it, but kept my reservation, although I was somewhat surprised with the move. If that's the policy why not make it explicit? When we got to the place, I was pleasantly surprised with the ambience. The owner/manager was very pleasant to deal with, he offered us to try several wines and let us choose which one we preferred. The menu was somewhat confusing. I would recommend allowing options for each course of prefixe and showing the a la carte prices as well on the prefixe menu. The portions were somewhat small. The waiter was agitated with us asking too many questions and then we ordered tea from someone else and when our waiter came back he was a bit agitated with the fact that we ordered from someone else.

The food is delicious, but everything else needs some work.

Wow, Happy and satisfied.

I went there with my girl and had a fantastic expierence from begining to end. The food was great both in presentation and flavor "Manufique". The waiter also suggested the perfect wine to go with our meal. I can't wait to go back.

Love love LOVE

Chubo is a hidden gem.

The food was succulent: I highly recommend the foie gras, the hamachi, the beef with ravioli stuffed with oxtail and truffle oil. Yum. Beautiful combination of French and Eastern cuisine.

Service was very sweet and efficient, and I look forward to going back. I recommend for couples, when you're out on the town in the L.E.S. but need a great meal, or for times when you just can't think of anywhere in NYC where you can have a conversation!

Try it, you will not be disappointed.

Awesome eclectic cuisine

This place has the best mash-up cuisine in the neighborhood. Influences from all over make the dishes interesting and fun to order. I always feel like I want to try everything on the menu when I go. Great service and value too.

Best Kept Secret !

We love the Chubo . My wife and I, along with many friends have been to Chubo numerous times to the point where we have been sited and the Chef is now sending us extra courses. The food is always delicious and interesting. The service has always been attentive and amicable. Chubo should be on everyone's radar.

An affable, affordable Clinton Street date spot with an eclectic menu.

The Scene
Inside the small, streamlined space--with its rough-hewn wood paneling, low candlelight and cushioned stools by the back bar--you'll find this sweet Clinton Street restaurant. Dining choices range from three-course, ingredient-themed tasting menus or a regular, seasonal a la carte menu. Chubo lets you reserve ahead, making the long banquettes and young, fun vibe ideal for large parties and first dates. Service tries to keep up with the quick-paced kitchen.

The Food
The international menu combines Asian, European and New World flavors. Hits include starters like tender, pepper-flecked squid with carrot and ginger; simple honey-mustard jicama; and rich duck phyllo rolls balanced with sweet plum drizzles. Entrees include rich goat cheese-mushroom shumai; miso chicken breast with gnocchi; and London broil with onion marmalade. Among desserts, the luscious green-tea panna cotta and miniature chocolate molten cake with homemade ice cream are winners.

Always a wonderful experience

Chubo is one of those amazing culinary gems. I've been hear on numerous occassions and am always impressed by the service, the food, and the overall ambiance. The seasonal, rotating menu is always inventive but just incredibly good! The space is intimate and charming and the prices are very reasonable. I've never had a bad experience.
