Unbelievable soups
by luckypaperstars at Citysearch
The best soup I have ever had. I found myself calling everyday to find out the specials, so I started a blog so other people don't have to: cafemedinadailysoupspecials dot tumblr dot com.
Admittedly, I have never tried any of their other food and sometimes delivery takes forrrrrever. But those soups! My god!
- Pros: Seriously: that soup.
- Cons: Slow service
waiting to rip you off

This place and it's management is the worst! I bought a soup and sandwich which was $14. I only had a $10 so borrowed $10 from my friend who was with me. The cashier gave us back $1. I told her we'd given $20 and needed an extra $5. She said no we gave her a $5. She called her manager out who started yelling at us and acting very inappropriately saying that he could not give us any money back until the end of the day when the till was counted. He said to never come back because he did not need our business. We asked to just get our money back (even just $15) and we'd leave the soup and sandwich. He said no, we could get no money back. We ended up spending $19 for a soup and sandwich. I know I will never see that $5 that is due to me.
Ridiculous

This cafe is a joke. I ordered two simple sandwiches for delivery, called three times to check up on my order, and it was finally delivered 2 hours and 40 minutes later. The lady who answered the phone rudely puts her calls on hold for 15 minutes, and when i got in touch with the manager he gave us a lousy excuse for the delay. I would recommend eating mac n' cheese from a box rather than going to this ridiculous cafe.
Awful

I wouldn't recommend it at all. Union Sq could use some good lunch places and this is not one of them. Over priced weak sandwiches and overpriced average salads. You can do a lot better at a normal deli/bodega.
best soup around

the pumpkin corn chowder is one of my favorite things in the city. everything else i've had there - chicken burrito, cajun veggie burger, grilled cheese, wraps, etc. - is also amazing, though i find it hard to pass up the soup. a little pricey but worth it, and all the sandwiches are pretty big.
Great soups, good lunch place

Don't miss this place! It's not your average deli. The soups are excellent, and they'll let you sample them at the counter. Sandwiches are also very good, try the grilled cheese and the chicken prosciutto.
