Great pub with great food
by changmino200
This is a true downtown after work spot that qualifies as a neighborhood joint too. There is just the right mix of good beer, good crowd, and good food. The bar and the bartenders are great. I can even have a nice glass of wine with a great pasta for dinner if I want to sit down. While it's not the average pub, it does seems to have quite a few regulars. Stop in. You won't be sorry.
- Pros: Big bar and nice crowd
- Cons: Mellow restaurant area
Cozy Pub - Glad We Found It!
by Martrese
My husband & I recently moved to Battery Park City and happily stumbled upon The Full Shilling while exploring downtown. We'll gladly make the 10 minute walk from home for the cozy atmosphere, excellent pub food and my husband's favorite beer on tap. If only they were open on weekends!
- Pros: Delicious pub food, warm atmosphere, excellent beer menu
- Cons: Closed on weekends, not closer to home ;)
Shockingly Rude on Multiple Occasions
by juliet_of_the_spirits
I recently moved to the neighborhood and hoped to find a good local pub. AVOID the Full Shilling! The first time I went, though the bar was mostly empty, we waited for several minutes to get noticed. When the bartender finally stopped chatting with her friends, she strutted past us to take the order of people who had come in several minutes after us. Oh well, I said. Made the HUGE mistake of going back the next week because everything else was closed. At 9:00 exactly we asked to order dinner and the bartender said the kitchen closed at 9:00 - after he saw us looking at menus for about 10 minutes and didn't bother to take our order. Jerk. Then he had the nerve to pick a fight with us over the time. Major attitude. This place should be shut down. Get out of our neighborhood.
- Pros: empty, okay burger
- Cons: ATTITUDE, bad service, faux "old"
Not just a pub, but better-than-pub food
by serinde
I end up here fairly often as it's right around the corner from my beloved's office. And if it were just a pleasant, friendly, spacious pub with a good beer selection, that would be enough. But on top of that, they have an excellent kitchen turning out a selection of well-handled "traditional fare" plus a wider choice of varied entries, all of which are stand head and shoulders above the usual standard.
Caveat: we don't suffer an after-work crowding problem, as we're usually there to eat as well, and the dining room is usually sparsely populated right then. If you just drop in for a drink at that time, though, prepare to call yourself Mister Sardine.
- Pros: excellent food, good beer selection, friendly service
- Cons: crowded bar
Get a taste of the Ireland of old at this quaint Wall Street pub.

With its 105-year-old interior bar shipped directly from a pub in Belfast, the Full Shilling offers Old-World ambience to the modern Wall Street crowd. Packing this place at lunch and after work on weekdays, young yuppie-types gather round the tavern's single TV. Patrons plow through the pub's hearty menu of beer-battered fish-and-chips with tartar sauce, bangers and mash, and shepherd's pie, but have a hard time choosing between 17 draft beers.
Best Burger in Manhattan
by mtvdave
This place has the best burger in Manhattan, hands down. It's also a great place to grab a pint.. They have 18 beers on tap and friendly bartenders pouring them... Gorgeous decor also. I would highly recommend this place.
- Pros: Great burger, Nice selection beers, Excellent service

Lord of the GUINNESS
by tbones
One word to describe this emerald jewel on pearl street near the diamond district: GUINNESS. at the full shilling they dont simply pour you a guiness. They build one for you. Tremendous. It almost makes you forget about the food. Almost, but not quite. With a menu that ranges from the simple to the exquisite they have something for the most peculiar of palattes.
Best Irish Bar & Restaurant in Manhattan
by mercerstreetnyc
This bar/restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan---To people other than those who work or live in the Financial District that is. It is the most authentic Irish bar in Manhattan, which is immediately evident when you first have a look at its absolutely gorgeous décor. It has a 107-year-old bar that the owners actually shipped over from Belfast! The Guinness is honestly the best pint in the city, hands down (and I've had Guinness at many Irish pubs in this city), and the food is really, really excellent. They serve both Irish fare and American dishes as well. The staff couldn't be friendlier, and now they're open on Saturdays, a welcome site in the Financial District. The Full Shilling is definitely worth checking out.
- Pros: Beautiful decor, Best pint of Guinness, Great food
