An atmospheric West Village cafe where you'll want to stay a while.
by Erin Behan at Citysearch
In Short
Just stepping into this European-style cafe makes you feel properly intellectual. Almost everyone has a book open, a computer whirring or an important letter in progress. The menu mixes expected cafe fare, such as crispy hot panini sandwiches, a tangy house salad and luscious cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, with more ambitious daily specials, such as chicken liver pate, grilled endive salad and potato blintzes.
RUDE RUDE RUDE

Seriously... its a cafe not a library... and I was in there having an lovely time and the woman who worked there SHUSHED us... it was absurd... we were not even being loud... we were enjoying ourselves... but I will NEVER go back there again... RUDE RUDE RUDE... it's New York City for God's sake... don't go if you want to enjoy yourself with friends... they have rules up all over this little cafe... "you can only stay for 2 hours" is actually written on a board... please... who would want to stay that long with that woman there anyways...
- Pros: None that I experienced
- Cons: French woman at the counter
Great place for good hot coffee

The coffee is amazing, they have a greet cook that always prepares food the same way and it's great! Service is very bad, last week I saw a girl on the phone, another talking to a friend, I just could not order my food so I left!
- Pros: Best chocolate muffins !
- Cons: Service is terrible
Great food, really bad service

I just moved into the neighborhood and found the food here to be excellent. There are lots of great daily specials and the desserts are great. The atmospere is good, if you can find a seat.
However, only once have I ever felt like I was treated well by the staff (out of, probably, 8 visits). I was getting lots of to-go orders because I was busy moving in, and, like in the other reviewer mentioned, they treated me like an intrusion. I have had to interrupt a staff member (a few times) who was talking to a friend of theirs just to place my order. I have had to inquire about my food when I saw it sitting there ready to go (and getting cold). Most of the staff seem to hate their jobs (or at least the part about helping customers). I don't know if they think it's ok to be rude because they are so "hip and european" but the cafes I've been to in Europe have had far better service. Regardless, I haven't been back since I found some time to explore the area and find other places with good food and far better service.
- Pros: Great food, great atmospere, quiet.
- Cons: Absolutely terrible service, very hard to get a seat.
Good Coffee and Food

I passed by this place many times - it was always crowded. Finally I went at 8 am and it was one of the best experiences. The coffee was good, there were all sorts of fresh pastries to chooses from. I had an omlette which was done very well. Unlike other places near by this one remained quiet even when it filled up.
Disappointed

I have frequented Doma over the past several years and love the vibe. I also agree with the previous positive comments regarding the food and general ambiance. After today, however, it may be a while before I return. It is a chill place, aesthetically. The staff has been fine in the past (neither here nor there). Today, however, after patiently waiting for my to-go order, the woman behind the counter treated me like an intruder when I gently approached her about its status. It was sitting in the kitchen, already paid for, and cold. The attitude that she brought to the interaction was completely unwarranted. i was totally turned-off and disappointed. She was NOT chill. -Kate, Village Resident
- Pros: Food is healthy & hearty, love the ambiance, encourages good conversation or contemplation
- Cons: Spotty attitudes among the staff... that's a deal breaker for me.
Best of NY

Doma is amazing. The atmosphere is quiet and studious but stylish all the same. The place could have been pulled out of a movie set. The music goes right along with the atmosphere. The food is a work of art - perhaps surpassing all other coffeeshop food selections in New York. You can order either coffee or wine (among other house selections). Make sure to try the cheese platters. Oh and don't go without either a book or a laptop.
- Pros: Ambience, Food, Wine, Coffee, Service
- Cons: No Wi-Fi directly in Doma (but can steal free from neighbors); can be crowded at times.
a nice spot for a cup of tea
by allisonaustin_citysearch at Citysearch
One of my favorite places to get a cup of tea or to have a casual brunch with the newspaper.

Hi Erin!
Don't you have any email contact to people form the cafe?
Thanks!
