Great place! Great instruction! Don and Anna at DCNY helped me fulfill my lifelong dream so that at 57 I am now a fully licensed and experienced Motorcycle driver. Don paid attention to increasing my skills toward the road test requirements and we practiced in a safe and thorough manner. All the NYS rules were gone over and practiced and special difficulties such as clutch control, turning, and shifting were drilled excellently. DCNY provided the motorcycle, helmet and accompanied me to the Road test. Best wishes always to DCNY and all the would be Easy Riders. God Bless and drive safe!

The Driving Center of New York is an excellent school. Their services are of the highest quality. My experience with the Driving Center of New York has been exceptionally positive. I took their 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Class and relied on their road test services. The individuals working at the center were always kind, polite and understanding of my schedule. My instructor, Don, was one of the most patient and serene individuals on earth. I would not have passed the test without his lessons and tireless encouragement. If you are looking for a quality service, this is the school for you. Of course, if you are a bit nervous about your road test, take lessons with Don. He is truly an amazing instructor.
Cons: Their services are of the highest quality

They cancelled a class appointment without notice upon arrival at their office. No Apology, instead the two office ladies were even amused. Very shady company. I guess you just need to treat them like six year olds and confirm appointments three times a Day before actually going there. Disappointing. Waste of time. I am looking for a different driving school now. One Day after putting this review they called and threatened with a lawyer if I do not remove this review.
Cons: they cancel your appointments without notice and without apologies, afterwards threaten with lawyer

I got my New York driving license today thanks to the Driving Center of New York!!! My instructor, Don, was very skilled, knowledgeable, friendly and patient. He also showed the utmost courtesy and professionalism by always being on time. The mini lectures interspersed in the 5-hour class was also very helpful. The methods they teach you on basic road rules, parallel parking and the K-turn guarantee that you will NOT ONLY pass the road test BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY be a very safe and efficient driver in whatever traffic condition. I am very happy and satisfied with the services they have given me. I am recommending this driving school to all of my friends and to every person who wants to be a licensed driver!!!
Pros: EVERTHING WAS GREAT!
Cons: none

Unreliable and unapologetic! I made an appointment on Friday afternoon/early evening for their Monday 5 Hour DMV prelicensing course. The class was scheduled to begin at 5pm. I got a call Monday afternoon to confirm my appointment at about 12:30pm. At 3:30pm, they called me to tell me that the class had been CANCELLED due to "not enough people confirming/attending". I tried to get them to not cancel the class as I had taken off from work, but they didn't care. They made NO attempts to right the situation with me. When I told them that I had taken off so I could make this class, they told me "well this happens and you can make an appointment with us in the future". I asked them if I would be able to take this course for free during this "future appointment" due to their last minute cancellation and huge waste of my time (I lost a day, everything was planned around this), and they said no. They wouldn't even discount the course for me. Needless to say, I didn't use them but went to the "Professional Driving School of the Americas" on 23rd between Park and Madison. All in all I would say this is an awful company with poor customer service. Any company that cancels courses at the last minute because they failed to book enough people or misjudged the market is not worth making an appointment with. This was not a one time thing but is their policy (they didn't mention this when I booked the appointment). They could end us wasting your time as they did mine.
Pros: No Pros
Cons: They will waste your time and cancel your class appointment at the drop of a dime!

passed as promised - My mission was to 'pass me quickly', Driving Center responded within half an hour and personally matched me to Don who was a fantastic instructor- I passed the first time. As long as you put in as much as you are given- you will passed! I am very impressed and completely satisfied with the service provided and would recommend Driving Center and Don to anyone who wants to be a good driver! Thanks so much!

This is the best driving school!! I was recommended by a friend who took lesson and was happy getting her license. I thought I don't need my license, because I lived most of my life in manhattan. I take the bus and trains to go anywhere, Unfortunately, due to circumstances, I need to relocate in the suburb area and the only way to get around is to drive. I WAS TERRIFIED AT FIRST!! BUT THIS SCHOOL HELP ME A LOT WITH MY CONFIDENCE THEIR INSTRUCTORS ARE VERY PATIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL..I never been comfortable with city driving! BUT they made a difference. Getting a license is like signing up a gym class., first you get nevous BUT then eventually it will be a routine and become part of your daily life. Because of this school , I was able to get my license in a short period of time. The school scheduled everything, their always on time, the dispatchers are polite and the five hour class are very informative. I learned a lot with this school in regards to my driving. Now, Im a happy license driver. I salute to this school!! It was one of my Great Experience!! Thank you!

I had recently completed a 10 class course here and passed my road test succesfully. My instructor was very informative. He knows what to do and focused on lots of little details. I was fully prepared to take the road test thanks to this excellent driving school. I would recommend this school to anyone in new york area, although driving in manhattan was kind of a drag due to the high volume of traffic but it was all worth it.
Pros: Knowledgeable, patient, friendly and accommodating
Cons: I can't think of anything negative about this school.

My experience with this center is being quite nasty. First, their instructors were always late. They blame it on traffic, which I consider a poor excuse, as traffic is something that you SHOULD expect and allow some extra time for! Once an instructor was 40 minutes late and the dispatcher from the office actually had a nerve to call my cell and let me know that the instructor "is waiting for you". When I asked to pick me up on Saturday in front of my building in Downtown nobody showed up. Then they made up stories about how I wasn't there (I was sitting on the street for 30 minutes drawing the attention of every doorman in the neighborhood, what you're kidding me?), how I hang up on their instructors - never heard the voice of that instructor not to mention hanging up on her! and so on and so forth. In addition, their cars are just garbage. I mean I do not expect a driving school car to be a BMW, but those were probably 20 years old, without air conditioning and stuff like that. The instructor I had a chance to actually have couple of lessons with was just sleeping through them. Sure, I know how to drive, I bear a driver license from a foreign country and just needed several classes to brush up my driving skills that deteriorated significantly after 3 years of living in the city. But hello, a brush up lesson still means a LESSON and I expected them to talk about how the driving test is structured and provide me with the "road test simulation" which of course never happened. The pre-licensing course was probably the part they failed the least - other than non exiting air conditioning it was quite good, I was even able to reed my WSJ while where. Anyway, the bottom-line is: if you're a busy professional - forget it, go some place else, deal with people who respect you and your time and have no problem navigating the city. If you're have plenty of time to waste - then this is a place for you!
Pros: are there any?
Cons: they are unable to accomodate your request and make up stories

Its a very nice and fun learning experience driving in your school. I will definitely recommed you to all of my friends and relatives who wish to learn how to drive. I have to admit that I was very nervous the first time I rode the car with my instructor, but he really handled me well. And everything turn out just fine. Now I already have my liscence and I can go anywhere in the country ! Thanks a lot for teaching me.
Pros: School is neat , all the employees are very accomodating and professionals
