Wow. Looks alright even through it's pretty small, but that immediately gets turned off when you come into contact with the Bartender. Not sure if that was a bartender or some busboy, but he was definitely rude when I had asked my drink to be made a certain way. I mean, I AM paying for it and I was just asking. I go out a lot and when I find rude people at a venue (especially if they work there) I find it's not worth the trouble especially if I'm intending to spend my money there along with my group of friends. Why go here when you can go to a better upscale place, plus, the treatment is way better. The smells there were also odd, a strong pungent oder; not something I like to smell if I'm getting trashed.

  • Pros: The lighting

Hi. I made the mistake of booking the K Lounge for a corporate event. My guests and I were treated extremely rudely and were not at all give what we promised. Their in-house event planner was particularly rude. This was an event for 200+ people for a major financial house! My understanding from other corporate event planners is that their sister location - Ava Lounge - is to be avoided at all costs, too. A word to the wise.

In Short
Sexy embellishments set the mood at this midtown lounge. Carved silver chairs, a human-sized birdcage and a 3-D skyline of Jaipur dominate the front room, while in back, chaises and floor pillows invite reclining. Minds may wander in the presence of Kama Sutra wall carvings and a sensual soundtrack of jazz-funk fusion, old-school Prince and even more specialized DJ sets. Aphrodisiacs include Indian-inspired cocktails with jasmine and ginger, and snack-sized kebabs, tikkas and samosas.

Met a date here at 8pm on a saturday. My date said that some guy was a bit rude, saw him walking around, manager maybe? who knows.. the place was empty, us and 3 others in the room. The bartender, very friendly, said it was more of a late-night place. Fine with me, able to sit on a couch, have a few drinks from a very friendly and attentive waitress. Incense burning around, red decor everywhere. A good place to meet up w/a date for an early evening drink before heading out. I would go back again for this reason. 3 beers and 3 apple martinis was 60, so you make the decision if it's pricey or average or cheap.

  • Pros: Atmosphere, friendly wait staff
  • Cons: arrogant manager

I've been to this loungs several times - once for my birthday when we had made a reservation far in advance. After a couple of hours we were told that we had to move to a really small table with not enough seating for all my guests. Every other time I've been back, my friends and I have been rudely asked to move because the table was suddenly "reserved" - we were never told this when we were originally seated. The guy at the door (perhaps the manager?) is rude and pretentious. The food is grossly over-priced for the size of the servings! The video of old Bollywood films and tacky sculptures in the back room are not exotic!! I could do without this lame excuse for a lounge.

  • Pros: Good drinks
  • Cons: , Bad Music

Wow - what a crazy cool place. First of all - take notice of the bizarre, yet cool art on the walls. Very cozy, chill place. Great for an after work drink or a date. Worth the shlep to mid-town. Pillow room in the back is my favorite.

Having drinks at K Lounge was a fun and interesting experience. The decor evokes a seductive and somewhat ironic journey into an exotic Indian dive. The lounge is deeply dark, and strewn with bamboo-shrouded candlelit couches that work quite well for discreet snuggling. But not too serious, though, because the sheer goofiness of the place keeps bubbling to the forefront. The cheesy but fun music ranged from 80's pop to Bali rap and was the perfect counterbalance to the whole scene -- diorama and all. I wouldn't consider this a place to meet anyone, but it could be fun place to take your date home early from.

  • Pros: Dark, Strange, Surreal
  • Cons: Silly music, Mildly annoying crowd

Lots of phoney balonies, mediocre drinks and pretense for no good reason. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the place has bad acoustics. The Seventies are over-we have the technology to play loud music AND be able to carry on a conversation with someone next to you provided the establishment is willing to pay the price for quality sound equipment. If you want real hip go to Time or the Flatotel.

  • Pros: Plush sofas
  • Cons: Lots Bridge/Tunnel

This is one of the most creative places to open in New York in a long time. The Indian theme is unique. Entering the place for the first time, it felt like a speakeasy as one has no idea this hip hot spot would be above a midtown Indian restaurant.

Ask the bartender to make you a drink featuring the new Zygo energy vodka. Refreshing and fun.

  • Pros: Interesting motif
  • Cons: Tough to find

This is a lounge with beautiful decor, an excellent intimate atmosphere, and stunning waitresses and bartenders.

Every time I've gone here I have been treated right. The staff is friendly, accomodating and know how to mix drinks.

Bring a date here because you aren't going to find an atmosphere more intimate anywhere. Just head to the back room and sit on the many throw pillows and cushions on the floor.

I'm not sure what to make of the reviewer who gave this place a 1. Even if the drinks here were the worst in the city, the atomosphere alone is worth a 7.

  • Pros: Atmosphere, Atmosphere, Service
  • Cons: None
