Where I feel like family

My all time favorite is the Tomato Cheddar soup which makes me pucker [tart] and smile [good] at the same time! I love it as much now as I did 5 years ago when they 1st open. And with just a 1/2 grilled cheddar cheese sandwich and a cup of this thick and yummy soup, I'm fully fed on just $5.43!! Go Say Cheese! Oh, and they deliver free, but you do have to spend more than $5.43!
Bad Food & Scientology Propaganda
by jpadian
I used to love this place, but the quality of food has drastically decreased. My sandwich was flavorless and burned. The soup which used to be one of my favorites tasted very watered down.
To top top it all off , I was given Scientology's Narc-o-Non pamphlet with my order. I was severely disturbed and disgusted by this. Keep your harmful cult BS to yourself. Don't force it on your patrons. I will never go back to Say Cheese, and will inform eveyone I know of the Scientology connection with the restaurant.
For the record Narc-o-non is just another way that scientology prays on people at their weakest moments to manipulate them into joining their destructive cult. I think it is pathetic and shameful. Why not just beat up old ladies and take their money too?
- Pros: Used to be good
- Cons: Bad food with a terrible message
Disgusting.
by joviandp
This place has the most disgusting food I have ever come across in my life. I am the furthest from being picky -- I am the least picky eater I know. But come on. The tomato cheddar soup was a disgusting watery texture and it was the color of watermelon juice, and at the bottom there were little squares of what was very clearly kraft cheese slices. Next came the two most disgusting sandwiches I've ever taken a bite of in my life. My sister tried the "Back to Basics" which had two greasy dirty slabs of tasteless over-buttered bread, and provolone which was definitely from some Kraft package and was absolutely TASTELESS. I tried the I don't even know what it was called -- something that came on olive bread with a mixture of a few cheeses, peppers and onions -- I nearly threw up when I took a bite, it was gross. After those first bites we asked the waitress to take them away and to bring us our bill. She was nice enough not to charge us for the sandwiches, and we went to eat elsewhere (I recommend HK which is just a few blocks away!). For a restaurant whose sole purpose is to make grilled cheese sandwiches -- for god's sake, USE REAL CHEESE! Have some respect for your work!!
Poor Service, Terrible Delivery
by barcelonaamy
I've lived in the neighborhood for quite some time - and this USED to be my favorite place. Lately, it has gone downhill for numerous reasons:
* TERRIBLE DELIVERY (my sandwich always arrives COLD, they mess up the addresses, and they are slow)
* INCREASED PRICES (used to be cheap, but now its just a really expensive grilled cheese sandwich. They used to be filled with gooey delicious cheese - now they're sloppily made with a small amount of cheese. Not worth the cost anymore)
* WATERED DOWN SOUP (was wonderful back in the day, but now seemes watered down. I also found a NASTY big glob of something burnt in the bottom of my soup last time)
Anyhow, I'm very saddened to say that one of my favorite places is getting very sloppy with their food preperation and delivery. I hope they'll pick up their act soon or they'll be loosing some of their best neighborhood customers.
- Pros: great concept
- Cons: poor execution
great sandwiches for cheap
by amanderlily
I went to this place for lunch and it was great. Lots of sandwich options on thick bread - I had the chicken melt, which had cheddar and avacado spread and it was great. My friend and I each had a sandwich and a drink and our bill came to $18. We were seated and served quickly, but we had to wait a really long time to get our bill - I felt bad for the waiter, since he was the only one serving the whole place. Also, the place is tiny and there are only 2-person tables.
- Pros: food, price
- Cons: understaffed
Muy Delicioso

My friends and I were hungry but were overwhelmed with the choices in the area. Say Cheese's name sounded interesting, so we went in. It's very tiny inside, but I quickly forgot about that. The staff was very friendly and acommodating and the food was just amazing and well-priced! Gourmet grilled cheese! I recommended the $4 (generously sized) Reese's smoothie!!
- Pros: friendly staff, food, inexpensive
- Cons: small
Long wait, no food. Don't go.
by spaztic
Went in on my lunch hour, sat for 15 minutes, finally decided to wait in line for my food. Upon reaching the front of said line 15 minutes after that, was told I needed to, you guessed it, sit down and wait to be served. I sat again, but received no indication that I was about to be served - no silverware, no water, nothing. Finally I walked out. So I have no idea how the grilled cheese is, but if you are going here on your lunch hour, don't expect to find out.
- Pros: Absolutely nothing., Don't go., Ever.
- Cons: No service., Long wait., Apathetic.
Maybe small, but it packs a punch!

Who knew that an alley of a shop with wooden tables and chairs and low lighting, could be so full of good eats and good cheer? I do not know the name of the guy who serves you but he is always so welcoming, polite and makes u feel right at home. I have been there many times with a magazine or a book, ordered a YUMMY sandwich and curly fries and just sat there reading away and enjoying my meal. No one bothered me and the food is just right to comfort a tired soul on a shoe string budget!
- Pros: Satisfying sandwiches, Great juices, Relaxed atmosphere
Mmmm...cheese
by badpie
I LOVE this place! Myself and my boyfriend ate there for $15 total and were stuffed. Great grilled cheese (obviously) and the cheddar tomato soup nearly made me crap myself with glee. The staff is super friendly and the place is unpretentious and welcoming. Definitely recommend!
- Pros: inexpensive, yummy, fast
- Cons: none
Best Sandwich EVER!!
by millardjoy
Try the cuban - it is out of this world. I am not a fan of cream based soups but their tomato was incredible. This is a must!!
