Not Better
by chrissykal at Citysearch
Tried out this place after walking by tons of times... I got a regular burger combo with fries and soda (Like $11). The burger itself tasted nice and pure but the bun was smushed, lettuce soggy and sloppy. It looked like the $99 cent burgers McDonalds offers every now n then. Fries were soggy but good. They boasted all kinds of ketchups and fixins but I found that there was only ketchup, spicey ketchup and mustard. It was ok but not BETTER.
- Pros: Supposedly Organic food, nice selection, a little unique
- Cons: messy food, waited a while, prices a little high
I've had better burgers
by brianimal at Citysearch
I had my second better burger today. I doubt I'll be going back for a third. The chain emphasizes organic ingredients but they neglected the most important aspect of food. TASTE! The meat is bland bland bland. The veggie burger doesn't fare much better. And the fries? Soggy. I had one and threw the rest away. I'm done with you Better Burger! I'll go to your much tastier cousin Good Burger.
Oh and your name is soooo arrogant.
- Pros: Healthy?
- Cons: Bland, soggy-ass fries, presumptuous name

what's better about it?
by nathb at Citysearch
Wanting a burger last night and too lazy to make it ourselves, we finally ordered from the menu, the "classic natural beef burger on toasted wheat bun" along with the 'organic better fries" and the smashed potatoes. I called 2 times, was put on hold 3-4 times. We thought busy place, great food. Yeah right.
The food arrived, the "toasted wheat buns" looked like just unfrozen old wrinkled buns, the fries were soggy and almost cold and the meat was about ok. I have to say the "smashed potatoes" were absolutely delicious and the ketchup with a dash of cinnamon was the best I've ever had. Next time I'll make my own.
Awesome for the health-conscious

Just went for the first time today - finally a place my fiance and I can agree on! We're both have a passion for gourmet food as he is an excellent gourmet cook and I come from a restaurant-owning family, but my fiance is also a junk-food connosieur (sp?) while I tend toward the healthy, organic, whole-food fare. This place is good for us, he got a burger he wanted and so did I! The portion was perfect and he got a tasty burger while I had my veggie burger and was thrilled to see actual sprouts in it!! If you want to feel like you're indulging but are still people very healthy, this is the place for you! So glad we randomly stopped in.
- Pros: Healthy, perfect portion
healthy burgers in town at reasonable prices !
by sh0901 at Citysearch
the best thing about this place is that you can have a burger and fries guilt free since they are healthier than the average burger and fries and as enjoyable. seating area is not too large and tends to get crowded at lunch hours so if you plan on sitting there then expect a little bit of a wait . you shud not expect the price to compare to burger king or any similar chain since these are HEALTHIER BURGERS and FRIES . the condiments that go with it are great - love the karma ketchup and wasabi sauce. my favourite is the chicken burger and i would recommend this place for kids - very bright and alive atmosphere. the counter staff seems bored and distracted but who cares - the burger's worth it !
- Pros: healthy food
- Cons: distracted staff
customer service problems
by polemeister at Citysearch
I have a real issue with their counterpeople in a way that undermines their business in general. 3 out of the 4 times I have tried to substitute soda (20oz) for a small ice tea (12 oz) I was told no. These are both priced at $1.75 and purchased in bulk .
I do not understand why they would not honor this simple request. Its the same cost and value. In the same vein, why is this 'healthy' restaurant forcing me to drink 20oz of soda? That seems a bit off to me.
My final gripe is that if a restaurant is going to offer a variety of ketchups, as BB, they should taste better. The ketchups are pretty weak.
I think this place should be called Not Better Burger.
- Pros: location
- Cons: bad service, not enough space for sitting, food is marginal
vegans beware...
by tabascosea at Citysearch
I was initially attracted to this place because of its vegan options, and decided $10.50 (incl. adds ons and fries) was not too much to spend on a delicious protein-filled lunch. Dude...if their soy patty isn't a boca burger, it sure tastes like one. For $4 I can buy a whole box of them! I think I'll just do that next time and save myself some cash.
- Pros: healthy, vegan options, good music
- Cons: not too tasty
Not really a better burger
by dylanofwoodside at Citysearch
Yes there are Better Burgers but not at this place. It is hard to believe that this place was picked in the top 10 best NYC burgers category. The burger was very dry, over cooked, and very tasteless. The fries were cold in the center and bland. I can name numerous places throughout the city where you can find a better burger and fries for less. The only thing that was redeeming was the Karma Catsup.
kind of 'blah'
by metro6 at Citysearch
Our beef and chicken burgers were just fair- underseasoned and not very tasty. The dry buns did not help but extra ketchup did. Air baked fries were soggy and inedible. Overpriced for a quick basic meal.
- Pros: Tasty smoothies
- Cons: Bland burgers and soggy fries
