Racist/Horrible Managment
by ItisNy
So this place used to be an ok place to go. After going in with my friends and the bartender refusing to serve us without even looking at our ids because my friends weren't "racially up to his standards" even though other bartenders have served them frequently without concern with the same IDS that some how
werent good enough for this bartender...who required passports....funny no one carries passports around also even better when a group of people went in later without passports and were served with the ids they had....(some of which were fake but went unnoticed by the great bartender) then having the management side with them by some arrogant man who can not have a rational/mature/professional conversation to save his life since he seems to be in "Bar mode" I would suggest heading to Jersey and enduring the train ride before wasting your time at a place like this. Theres a million places on stone street. SKIP THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Everything
Poor Service
by FNW
Shrimp Cocktail tasted xtrmemly fishy. Also, ordered the "same" drink 3 different times and each time I received it they were COMPLETELY different. I had ordred a drink of their cocktail menu and obviously the bartenders did not pay attention to the actual ingredients that are listed on the menu. If that wasn't annoying enough I had to wait almost 20 minutes to get my last round and they only brought half the order. When we told the bartender that we were waiting on several more he appolgized and said he'd bring the rest but never returned. When the waiter finally came to our table half of the party had already finished their drinks while the others were still waiting.
Convenient and cute spot but needs some serious work with service and consistancy.
- Pros: outdoor seating
- Cons: Inconsistant & Slow
Refreshing

My wife and I stopped in last night after work. I kept noticing the place during the days I was test riding a Buell Ulysses and always meant to stop in.
The service was excellent, beer and ice tea (fresh brewed) great, and the fish and chips I had fit the perfect "bar food" role. . . great food and off the chart fries.
Even in my sunset years I'm finding myself tempted to start getting in here more often.

- Pros: Friendly service, good food, great coffee
- Cons: I'll find some . . . I just need several more trips. :-)
The Siren of the FiDi

I love this place. Always great fun, good drinks, and don't miss the live music and Wii nights. Perfect neighborhood bar for the Financial Distric, which is otherwise lacking in options.
- Pros: Size, live music, outdoor in warm weather
- Cons: crowded in summer
Great place in Fidi

This is a neighborhood/local's bar on Stone St that isnt trying to be anything more than that! Excellent friendly staff, great selection of brews and awesome bar food - where else can you get amazing fries at 3am? Have live music a few nights a week, plus nightly specials. thankfully it is within crawling distance to my apt!
- Pros: friendly bar staff, historic setting, great food!
Just ok in NYC where you have choices.

Mixed review
THE GOOD
1) This is a great summer place outside good social scene and good wait staff
2) The relief/later bartenders are nice.
3) Very good food at a fair price
4) the room to the side of the main bar is interesting
THE BAD
5) Too many guys( 80-90%)
6) Inside it takes forerever to get a drink becuase they are understaffed.
7) The bartenders look stressed. So they can often be rude
8) The decor has these little partitions/cubicles that crowd the walking space and you can't see the bar
9) No happy hour
10) I don't like to criticise but I work around the area and have been there 50-60 times over the years mostly outside and in groups and it has improved some but not enough. All IMHO but it appears some folks concur.
- Pros: Good food at fair price. Good outside drinking area in summer.
- Cons: Crowded with too many guys. Overwhelmed ocassional rude bartenders.
Fine for financial district
by mckinley30
Finding an affordable dinner place in the financial district after 9pm can be tough, so we settled here. A very mixed experience -- their side "green salad" is a handful of mixed greens on a plate. That's it. For $6. The mushroom ravioli with brown butter sauce, however, was far better than any pub pasta should be. Really delicious vegetarian fare and a big portion. I'm forgetting what the rest of our party had because I was so focused on my ravioli. Good beer selection, though my Summer Ale seemed a bit warm. The service was a bit off, and I won't go out of my way to find this place again, but if you're in a bind in that neighborhood it could be worse.
- Pros: mushroom ravioli, beer selection
- Cons: side "salad"

There is no better place to go for a drink after work if you are around Wall St. The summer is especially nice when Ulysses sets up table so that you can drink al fresco. The combination of good beers (chamay, Leff alongside Guiness, etc), good crowd (young wall st. types) and great outdoor atmosphere make this the perfect place to catch a drink. Waitresses/waiters are especially efficient and friendly. Warning, if you don't work in fianance you might be scared by all the suits. Or if you're looking to land that Wall St. Bigwig, this is the perfect place.
Amazing Work
by downtowngirl444
I am writing this review after being at ulysses' on a crazy thursday night....I have been in the bar industry before, so I am a pretty understanding customer. But tonight I was absolutly amazed at the crew that works there, I have never seen so many people work so hard and care about their customers getting drinks and food even though they were slammed. My waitress had a huge section and was able to make rounds to see us and still hang out with other regulars. I am actually more shocked at the rude customers that go there, I saw a customer at the next table who attacked the waitress and then cursed her out after she had apologized and he stuck in his middle finger out because he was frustrated his beers didn't come out. And she later on she was upset over the situation. Every one of her tables all said she did a great job and all wanted to by her a shot. When I asked her how do you do it here and she said she was in the same section all day long since the lunch and they were short 2 of their staff members. For someone who was working all day I'm shocked she could be happy and keep her tables happy. Great Job All Around. And all who think I'm crazy for writing a good review about a busy thursday night, you should all work in the bar industry once in your life because you wouldn't be able to handle what these guys do. Great job Keep Up The work!!!
