not my thing
by winterdaisy
Not that the desserts were bad, but I didn't like them any better than desserts from fine-dining restaurants that do not particularly specialize in desserts.
- Pros: unique desserts
- Cons: not many choices
Perfect Desserts
by rachelmar
Wonderful, wonderful, divine.
I have to recommend, well everything. The homemade cheese Cake were to DIE FOR. The trifle is better than anything you have ever had before. The candies and tarts, oh my!
I always go here and I must always come back. Love you ChikaLicious
Nice portions, great staff, get there early!
by misspanda
I went after work on a Thursday and I was worried I'd have to put my name down and wait a while to be seated but it actually turned out better going right after work (before the after-dinner crowd)...The dessert is delicious and if you have a choice, sit at the bar! It's always hard for me to choose what to get because everything always sounds good. Perfect for a date or if you're going with a friend. I find it more fun if you go without a big group, but that's just me!
- Pros: Great portions for the price, unique dessert, friendly staff, fun intimate atmosphere
- Cons: long wait if you go after dinner, no RSVP
Great dessert date spot
by albyatlarge
For a dessert date, you can't do better than this spot -- cozy and cute, with beautifully presented offerings. Be prepared for a long wait, or even to get turned away -- lines go down the block. And fair warning: Don't expect to stuff your face here like you would at Baskin-Robbins or another dessert chain -- this is strictly a tasting bar. Chika is in it for the art, not the heartburn.
- Pros: Best desserts, cute ambience
- Cons: Long waits, pricy
Great small dessert fix EVER!
by cityspaghetti
I absolutely love, love, this place. It looks swanky and the hosts are the sweetest, kindest people. The small space makes it intimate and neighborly. Portions are small, but sometimes that's all I want. If you're looking for giant dessert portions, you shouldn't come here or you'll be disappointed. Fair warning. Super-sized desserts make me feel gluttonous, but this place are just right and rich enough to satisfy that sweet tooth. I also appreciate the pairing with a tea vs. wine as I don't drink. Chikalicious is a fantastic place to meet a friend for a quick bite more than coffee, before or after dinner.
- Pros: Great dessert fix, innovative, ambiance, pleasant and nice owners
- Cons: None!
great service, interesting desserts
by poptart27
i went here last night and it was really a great experience. The line wasn't too long, only 10-15 minutes? the sign outside posted that there can be a 20-60 minute wait.
my friend and i sat at the bar and got the prix fixe which i thought was a good deal. for the first time, i suggest sitting at the bar so you can see them make the desserts, it's really interesting and intricate
the desserts were great, not too sweet and interesting flavors
- Pros: ambience, service, food
- Cons: wait (on weekends i imagine it can be terrible)
Dessert Paradise!
by riley21riley
I must admit that I have a sweet tooth and anything with sugar will get high ratings from me. But, this place is out of this world. You haven't had dessert until you've tried Chikalicious. I won't go into details because each item is different. The service is great and I can understand why they won't take reservations. I hope they expand someday. They can definitely double the size without sacrificing the quality.
- Pros: DESSERT!!!
- Cons: line
Like Heaven on Earth
by enchante
I've driven pass this place on several occasions as I use to reside in the neighborhood. For some reason I always thought it was a sushi restaurant. I might have though this because of the nondescript glass plating which?s conceals a very white interior. I could also make out what appeared to be a sushi bar. I was wrong. After reading a posting on BOC I decided to check it out. I was left in utter euphoria. This was a dining experience. The deserts were spectacular. The different textures and flavors melted in my mouth. I wasn't very daring... I just tried the cheese cake (which was no ordinary cheese cake, it was as smooth as butter). Yes, the wait was long and well worth it. The seating area is very small. The host is gracious and beyond polite. And to the individual who posted s/he felt the service was rushed because s/he was not allowed to order a second cup of coffee. Heaven is meant to be shared... If you wanted to lounge check out Dunkin Doughnuts or Starbucks
- Pros: the dessert makes it all worth it
- Cons: long wait -no reservations accepted
Nothing short of spectacular - 1st timers: Sit at the bar

I've been going to ChikaLicious for a couple of years now and can never get enough!
The attention to detail and quality of the food and service should serve as a standard for ALL restaurants in New York.
Yes, the sizes are small, comparing to the hunk of cheesecakes and other so-called fine pastries served at your typical chains. The idea here, which some people don't get, is to have an outstanding dessert experience, not make a meal out of it.
The fromage blanc is their version of cheesecake, which is always on the menu with the chocolate tart, the rest changes every few days.
For first times, I recommend sitting at the bar and notice how every move is made with total care towards perfection.
For those who think the sizes are way too small, order two! Sometimes that what I do.
- Pros: Service, quality, decor, presentation, variety, etc
- Cons: I wish they had a larger place
Sweet Little Dessert Bar
by creativelolita
My fiance and I had been trying to experience Chikalicious for over a year but the long line and wait was always a deterrant. We finally waited it out and had a lovely little experience. The staff is friendly and the desserts are really great. That said, I will be honest; it's very expensive for what it isand this is not American (or even French) sized portions by any means. You'll get a taste and it will be a great and expensive one. If you are OK with that, you'll have a great experience. The wine pairing is perfect and the changing menu keeps it fresh. Don't bother with the special...just get the dessert and definitely do the pairing. Go early (before 7:30) to avoid the wait (or on a week night!)
- Pros: Nice experience, friendly staff, good dessert
- Cons: Long wait, bright lighting, value
