best Tequila list in town
by karynzinha
This tiny little LES staple is my favorite Mexican place in NYC. Sure, its crowded, and you always have to wait for a table; i saw Sofia Coppola and her entourage turned away because the place was so full. But give your cell # to the friendly bar staff and head across the street to Little Giant for a warm up cocktail. The freshly prepared sangrita served with your Cazadores is worth the wait.
- Pros: perfectly poured margaritas & amazing tilapia tacos
- Cons: waiting for a table
mmm jalapeno margaritas

Crazy... i've been asked to wait an hour on a Monday night for a table at this place, and I would have done it if i didn't have to get up early for work. That's how good the drinks are- the jalapeno grapefruit margaritas are my favorite. The food is consistently good, and the atmosphere is always cozy and fun.
Love the drinks! Good food & service

Went with a few friends for a low key weekend night. Knew the wait would be long, but persevered and whiled away at near by happy hours. Once seated, the staff were accommodating, courteous and efficient for the bustling pace & small space. Drinks were served quickly despite the crowd. The food and coconut mojitos were delicious! Also sampled a few of the magarita flavours and were not disappointed. Overall had a great night, recommended!
- Pros: Drinks & atmosphere
- Cons: the wait

Drink: Coconut Mojitos
Eat: Bistek Torta
Sit by the bar and let Amy serve you!
And you will walk out of there with a full tummy and a big grin on your face (after drinking alot of Mojitos and having Amy serve them) :)
- Pros: Good staff & Food!
- Cons: Small Place (but worth it)

Its hard to understand how a waiter that is sitting on a table flirting at all the girls (by the way he is gay) could still be working there for two years, and everyone still keep loving him and loving him and loving him. personally, i do not understand. If the problem is waiting in line for an hour, everyone does it, so does you fern... whatever! Barrio Chino is the best place ever, to eat, drink, have an amazing night and stare at cute waiters (Santana)..
Barrio Chino needs a new waiter

I've always liked this place and I bring all my friends here. The Habanero Margaritas are AMAZING and the food is "deliciosa". But last time I was a little concerned about the service -- I don't want my favorite restaurant go to hell just because of one waiter.
We as customers know that you have to wait for an hour that's fine, but when you finally get your table, it's very annoying to see the only waiter (Santana) sitting on the tables and hitting on all the female customers while your drinks are on the bar and your food is nowhere to be found. This is not a review, it is more a call to the Barrio Chino management.
Worth the extra 5 minutes

The food is very good. Service is surprisingly attentive. Price is reasonable ~$40/person for drinks and a few appetizers and an entre. Dark Rum Mojito is phenomenal (so is the light rum).
oh my mojito!

i love this place. the food is excellent but the coconut mojitos make me want to die - but in a good way. unfortunately, there usually is a long wait, and the space is a little cramped, but that's the lower east side for you. definately recommended.
- Pros: the drinks, the food
- Cons: pricey, small space, crowded
I'm coo coo for coconut mojitos!

Okay, so it's not the cheapest place around, but it's the mostest-bestest place to get your sweet drink on and eat. Maybe I just love anything with rum in it, but it gives me the courage to get into the tequila once in a while - but only after I get some of the fish tacos in me to hold it down. (So I'm a bit of a sissy when it comes to tequila, big deal, I had an experience in West Virginia once.) Don't make faces either if you've never had a fish taco, those are good enough to get your sober friends to come back with you for a second visit.
why do you make it so hard to love you!?!?!

I love the enchiladas (both mole and verde), the drinks (grapefruit maragarita is the best! ever!), and the staff (they're all cool and really know their tequilas!) but why are you so far away? and always packed? can't you give a girl a break? oh, and i forgot, i love the churros too.
- Pros: food, drinks, and service all great!
- Cons: loud, crowded, have to wait
