I'm kind of surprised that this is ranked as the top dance club in NYC. Don't get me wrong--there was minimal hassle/cover at the door, the ambience was good, and the music was great most of the time. However, it seemed to me that this was just what a basic clubbing experience should be. The Village Underground doesn't really go above and beyond in any way that makes it particularly special or awesome in any way. It's fun to go with a group of friends, but don't expect anything amazing. As long as you don't have over-elevated expectations, you'll be able to relax and have a good time.
Pros: Generally hassle-free, fun experience
Cons: Nothing spectacular
