Le Scandal Cabaret Has Moved to West Bank Cafe!

by bonnadellarue

Hi, this is Bonnie Dunn. I produce Le Scandal. We have moved to a wonderful location, right on Theater Row.

The West Bank Cafe-Laurie Beechman Theater

407 West 42nd St., NYC

The West Bank has been around for over 30 years, with excellent food and very professional and courteous staff.

No more long waits or bad seats. Show is on time, every time, all good seats, great food, and the best international acts from around the world.

Win fabulous burlesque prizes, too.

Love,

Miss Bonnie

  • Pros: great new venue, great talent

Long line, mediocre show

by laidavidlai

The line getting to the show was horrible ! We were the 3rd couple standing in line, but people were cutting the line left and right ! Instead of serving the people on the line, the host kept serving the people cutting the line. Instead of giving out tickets they go to each person to check their names on the list, and then call out the names on admission. The noise was loud and difficult to hear. People cannot hear their names. Maybe they stand in the back, went to the bathroom, or simply disgusted and left. You can imagine what a fiasco it made.

The show was mediocre. None of the girls were pretty. The sword swallower was old and fat. The indian body twister kept doing his act on the floor that you cannot see. The MC was decent but most of the jokes was not very funny. The show was rather short too. Before you know it, they asked for some audience to go up the stage and dance with the girls. It became so boring that even the performers left the stage. That's how the show ended.

If you want to see the show, you must get in line early, because the theatre is small and some of the tables has blocked view to the stage. Even then, you may not get a good seat because the host serve the insiders first, not the people on the line !

  • Pros: The fruit salad was decent
  • Cons: Long line and mediocre show

A Different Kind of NY Burlesque Show

by BestyM

Le Scandal Cabaret is very diverse, I'll give it that. The sword swallower grossed me out. It was hard to swallow. ha,ha.

Cute guys in this show. The burlesque was a little boring. I did like Bonnie Dunn. I hope I look like her when I'm in my 40s. Funny lady.

Oh, yeah, the band was cool.

  • Pros: good audience participation
  • Cons: long line to get into the show

Big on Variety

by VivNYC

10 of us went to Le Scandal for our bachelorette party. I really researched different shows, and decided that this was the best show for an all girls night out. The show is very varied, with hot guys not just burlesque women. Very different from the local burlesque shows. We saw the world famous Bob, and beautiful buxom big burlesque babe, and the most adorable petite burlesque brunette. This is what I love about burlesque. It is truly a celebration of all body types. Both were very good at what they did. Miss Bonnie Dunn, a glamorous madame, belted out a song about not getting it. Very funny. She had this very "wink and a nod" naughtiness, yet definitely the madame of the bordello type persona. We got hand made nipple tassles from Miss Bonnie. Sweet lady.

But, this show isn't just a boring line up of one burlesque after another. Eric the mentalist, hung from the ceiling in a straight jacket, ripped it off to reveal his muscles, then did some funky math trick. This guy has brains and beauty! Then the hottest pop star in the making juggler did his thing to a crowd of adoring woman. He brought two guys on the stage and joked with them, too. Very, very hot.

This show is a lot of FUN.

  • Pros: Bonnie Dunn did everything she could to make us comfortable. Then ran on stage to perform.

Impressive Variety Show

by TravelingFame

I saw Le Scandal a couple of weeks ago. Went here to post a review, and I'm not sure what the line up was this past Sat., but I saw a great diversity of talent, accompanied by a live band. And I thought the price was cheap, considering a movie with popcorn costs almost 20 bucks. The line up was an amazing sword swallower--yes, she may have been in her late 40s, but we were looking at the 25inch neon glow in the dark sword going down her throat. There was Rudi Macaggi, who won America's Got Talent! He did his famous opera acrobatic comedy number. Check him out on youtube. This guy is f(*& amazing!! There was a young Marilyn Monroe look a like burlesque beauty named Ruby Valentine. Eric the magician got out of a straight jacket while hanging from the ceiling, and pulled razor blades out of his mouth. An elegant woman sang a dirty dittie about not getting action, and did a really fun quiz where audience members wons nipple tassles. I remember the show really well because the acts were so amazing and different. I think you'd have to be pretty jaded not to enjoy the show. I checked out some of the acts on youtube before I came to the show, and was impressed. Seeing them live was intense. I had a lot of fun, and so did the group I came with.

Expect the show to start later than listed. It's a very popular show, and the line was long. Relax and have a drink, cause it started 30 minutes late. I could see that some of the people in line were getting annoyed. Not a good way to start a show, but once the show began, I was really impressed.

  • Pros: Great line-up of interesting talent. live music. win fun stuff
  • Cons: crowded, started late,

Amazing show not up to usual standard!

by Howard101

Saw Le Scandal at The Cutting Room for the 3rd time and have to say it was slightly disappointing this time as the sultry/sexy Bonnie Dunn took a back-seat from MCing and had some wierd guy take over (Nelson somebody). Wasn't the best MC in the world, but that said the acts in between were still really impressive and Bonnie sang a few numbers, but just isn't the same without the sultry MC - BONNIE COME BACK! Would definitely go again as it's my favorite burlesque show but will be sure to ring ahead to check that the same guy isn't MCing!!

Le Scandal? Scandalous Rip Off

by MightyB

If your idea of good burlesque is overpriced admission to drink overpriced drinks and see underwhelming performances, than this is the show for you. Get psyched for 6th grade humor from the host (he stopped just short of booger jokes), sub par dancing and a decided lack of scintillating show and tell. Other lowlights were the racially questionable voodoo dance and the aggressive waitstaff service. Dita Von Teese would be disgusted, so was I.

  • Pros: Mr. Big sighting
  • Cons: Pretty much everything else

Don't waste your money!

by crankyyankee

All of the reviews of Le Scandal on this site must be written by the show's untalented "performers." I can't believe I planned my Saturday night around this show, which was a major disappointment. The announcer was beyond annoying, passing off pretending to hammer nails in his nose as entertainment. He amused only himself when he promised the audience "boobies." And, while he did make good on his promise of "boobies," they were attached to an elderly woman who gyrated her hip replacements in a manner that did not even mildly approximate the belly dancing they claimed it to be. There was really nothing redeeming about this operation, which exhibited absolutely no talent and was even less attractive. All of those in my party agreed that we felt our price of admission was an act of charity. Speaking of the price of admission, the show's website says $20, only to get there and be bilked for $25 after waiting in line in a tightly packed bar.

The only smart thing about this operation was its unbridled capitalism -- everyone quickly disappeared when the show was over, leaving absolutely nobody to complain to. Must be part of the plan.

In sum: if you have $25 to burn and you want an unpleasant experience that tests your intelligence leaves you feeling suckered, Le Scandal is the show for you.
