Beware of Company!
by MarkNYC at Citysearch
Summary: Service paid for did not fix the problem, company did not care since they already got me to sign their contract which basically says that the cleaning service performed by them doesn't need to actually work, just as long as they attempted it then they can charge you. No refund or any attempt by them to make the situation better. My advice, look elsewhere...plenty of better options in the Tri-state area.
Details: I called York Carpet Care to ask if the company would be able to remove a urine smell/stain from my sofa as my dog had soiled it that morning. The customer service representative, Alex, explained that they should be able to take care of that and that she would send a technician to my apartment to examine the sofa. The technician arrived and I showed and explained the issue to him and asked him if his cleaning method would be able to remove the urine smell/stain. The technician responded that he had a urine treatment that he could use that would get out the stain and remove the smell. I also asked if he had worked on similar issues in the past and if he had success with the method and he confirmed that yes he had. I negotiated the price for the work to be done and he spent approximately 30 minutes cleaning the sofa and sofa cushion cover. After he was done I examined the sofa cushion cover and could still smell a strong urine smell. I alerted this to the technician to which he replied ‘The cover needs to fully dry and then the smell will be gone’. I took the technician at his word. The technician then presented me a contract which he asked me to sign. I hesitated signing the contract since in my opinion the job was not completed since the cushion still smelled of urine. The technician told me that if the smell remains after it dries then call the company and they will come back out to redo the cleaning process. I signed the contract and the technician left. After the cushion cover completely dried the smell still remained so I called the company and they agreed to send a technician out. A different technician arrived and performed the cleaning process. After the process I checked the cushion cover and the smell still remained. This technician also asked that I allow it to dry and then follow-up with the company as needed. After it dried the smell remained so I called the company and explained to the representative, Alex, the issue that the smell still remained. I asked if there was any different cleaning method that the company could perform since the two attempts did not get the job done. She said no. I said then in that case I would like to request a refund since the work that I paid for was not completed. She said she had to check with the company owner, Ron, but would be back in touch. A week went by without a call or an email so I called and reached Alex who told me that the owner told her that there would be no refund since the work was processed twice. I informed her that the only reason I agreed to the work being performed is because I was told by the technician that the urine smell would be removed through the cleaning process. I would not have signed the work contract if not for the promise by the technician that the cleaning would be successful. I asked Alex to please have the owner call me to discuss since I was completely dissatisfied with the outcome and the follow-through of his company. She requested I send an email to her requesting the owner to call me, which I did. After no word from the owner for a week I informed Alex via email that I would be filing a formal complaint through the Better Business Bureau. She told me she would pass that email along to the owner as well.
Loyal Customer
by MaryTurner at Citysearch
We have used three other carpet cleaners in our area for the past few years. None of them were able to remove the big wine stain that was on our beige carpet. After 3 or 4 carpet cleanings, we decided to purchase a new carpet. When we walked into the carpet store, we saw a card from checkmate carpet cleaning and my husband and I decided to try one more time to see if we could save our expensive carpet. Ron and his assistant arrived and worked their magic and went out of their way for almost 3 hours to get the carpet stain out. Finally, the stain was out. I appreciate your hard work, patience and professionalism. I am very happy that I found a company that cares about their customers. You just got yourself a loyal customer for years to come. Thanks again!
Great Experience with Area Rug Cleaning
by sandrafoster at Citysearch
My Oriental rug was delivered to me after I sent it to be cleaned. I have to tell you how impressed I am with your service. The carpet is now in my living room and it looks great. It smells great. I called and had it picked up on Monday and I had it in my house on Thursday. Great service. The rug arrived in perfect condition and looks beautiful. Also, your customer service personnel were helpful and got back to me immediately with questions I had for them. I'm telling all of my friends about what a wonderful experience I had with York Carpet.

don't know about their service. But if you are doing business with them, my advice will be - never trust them!
Amazing Job on Removing Pet Stains and Odors
by staceyklein at Citysearch
Just a note to York Carpet Care Crew. I called you to take care of my pet and odor problem that had deeply set in my carpets. I had no idea of the outcome and if the odors can disappear. Obviously you guys know what you’re doing! Your fast and efficient service is greatly appreciated. I will recommend you to everyone asking for any carpet cleaning service.
Unreliable and unprofessional
by NYCGirl1984 at Citysearch
I would also like to give a negative star for extreme unreliability, incompetence and/or flat out lying. When I got the estimate, I was told that it would be best to make an appointment for 8:00 am to make sure that the technician arrived on time (techs may not be on time for appts later in the day because of traffic etc.). I scheduled an 8:00 am appointment to ensure that morning errands could get done and I could make it to work on time. At 8:30 the technician had not arrived. I called York, got their answering service and was told nothing could be done until 9:00. At 9:00 I called and spoke to the office manager (call him J), who told me that the technician had been there at 8:00 and had been turned away by my doorman because the building doesn't allow machinery into the building before 9:00 and that the tech had called me to let me know. (All untrue - my doorman confirmed that he didn't turn anyone away and there was no attempt to call as I will explain in a minute). J mentioned something about having them come another time and I said there was no other time to come and that I had already wasted over an hour of my time waiting for the appointment. He said that he would call the tech and see what he could do. He called back and told me that the techs were on my street looking for a parking spot and he would send up one tech now while the other parked. Twenty minutes later no tech (and I live on one of the shortest streets in NYC - it takes about 2 minutes to walk from one end to another). I called back and was again told that the techs were looking for a parking spot - no explanation for why the one tech hadn't come upstairs while the other one parked. Finally at 9:40, a tech arrived and I learned the true story (according to the tech). Apparently, York had scheduled an appointment before mine on the Upper East Side (I am all the way downtown) and the tech was turned away from that building. He couldn't leave that appointment until he got an OK from his boss (the owner of York) and that took some time. The tech said he couldn't call me because techs aren't allowed to call customers. He called J to let him know what was going on and J said he wouldn't call me until he got into the office at 9:00. In short - either York has no control over what their techs are doing and no ability to ensure timely and reliable service or J knew there was a problem, failed to call me to let me know (wasting my time) and then lied to cover the whole thing up. I was very late to work and my boyfriend's schedule also was disrupted. I asked for a discount to accommodate us for the inconvenience and after much back and forth was given a $15 discount - hardly enough to make up for the inconvenience, waste of time and being late to work.
Amazing Job on Removing Carpet Stains
by pamelahansen at Citysearch
When we moved and got into our new place, we weren’t sure if we should replace the carpets or just have them cleaned. The carpets look horrible, but after your consultation and end results we can say thank you for saving us a fortune as the carpets looks almost new. The house smelled fresh and clean. Excellent work!

Pet stain removal - Highly recommend service by York Carpet
by Daniel212 at Citysearch
I have used York Carpet several times for my home and for my business, and they have always done a fantastic job for me. York Carpet has been flexible with their work hours and accommodated my busy schedule. I have two big dogs that I take to work with me sometimes. You were also able to remove all of our pet stains and bad odors. I will highly recommend you to anyone that asks who to call for carpet cleaning. Thank you very much!
Amazing Upholstery Cleaning Service
by donspergel at Citysearch
Amazing! That’s the only way I can describe the job you did on my sofa and love seat today. I have never written a testimonial letter in my life, but your service deserved it. My wife was to the point of replacing the two pieces, which were in good condition except soiled by use. I was looking at spending several thousands of dollars to buy new living room furniture. While they do not look new, they look as well as any three-year-old, light-colored fabric sofa and love seat I have ever seen. I’m very pleased!!
Poor Service
by jakenegari at Citysearch
I should have read the listing below a bit more. When you look into them they really are all fake like the guy below pointed out.
These guys never show up near the time they say, and when they finally do, they track dirt and grime through your apartment. My bathroom, where they kept the machine, was a total mud pit. My carpets were not even that clean in the end, plus they don't honor their coupons.
Stay away from this company. I've never found a carpet cleaning company in the city I did love, so please someone ping me with ideas.
