What users are saying:
Irish pub in the Village provides student types with a no-frills hangout.
by Eric Grossman
In Short
The recent expansion of this Village joint adds three discreetly-placed televisions and a dimly lit seating area in the back for a slightly larger crowd. Ceiling fans, vintage neighborhood photographs, and sconces adorn the interior. Diverse crowds--locals and newcomers alike--gather around circular tables to chat or play board games (Boggle and Connect Four are house favorites), and the sidewalk patio provides colorful people-watching opportunities. Gregarious bartenders (including poet extraordinaire Shafer Hall) pour selections from a well-stocked bar, though many patrons stick to one of the eight beers on tap.

"the liar," as my friends call it, serves as a "Cheers"-like hangout for many of its patrons. i'm not sure what the previous user review was on about--i've never seen any cute guys there, other than a bartender named Shafer, he is dreamy. the bar attracts a mixed crowd, lots of glbs and trannies. good happy hour, too.
- Pros: prices, shafer
- Cons: noise, trannies
Yummy.

The drinks at this middle of it all dive are like anywhere else, maybe not as expensive. Two single occupancy gender unspecified bathrooms aren't anything to write home about. But could there be boys cuter than here anywhere in the world? Young. Not frat prototypes of each other. Smart, quite possibly but you can't look at that. Pretty. Yummy.

Great place to hang out on weekdays, think its a special night on Mondays where anyone can serve behind the bar for the night, great laugh. Also the barmen are excellent, and the place is very much Irish owned...Cant remember last time I left the bar, nor the tiem before that, but theres a great clientel that theyve built up, lots of eclectic people and good live music too.

I found this bar by pure accident while visiting NYC and I can't say enough good things about it. All of the bartenders are friendly and will try to make you feel at home. Over the course of the week I met Denver, Connor, Sean, and Schaeffer, all of whom are a blast. They could definitely pour one heck of a Guinness, and make sure you are having a great time. Check this place out if you can!
- Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Drinks
Bless Me Lucky Charms!!!

Definitely the best news to hit the village since the 'Voice', Four-Faced is among the best new faces to emerge in the neighborhood this year. Reinventing the old Flying Burrito, Conor, Sean, Denver, and Maggie have given the Irish (and the Irish-at-heart) a comfortable place to settle in for that after work pint. With authentic New Zealand Dub Pies to help settle the stomach, and drink specials to settle the checkbook, this new Village institution provides a home for those of us too cheap to hang with the tourists at the Slaughtered Lamb and too discerning to hang with the kids at Down The Hatch.
Also check out the live Irish Band on Wednesday's bringing a taste of the Emerald Isle to Jones & W.4th. It's so nice to come home for a drink again!
- Pros: Friendly Bartenders, Drink Specials, Atmosphere
- Cons: Leaving

This is one of the most authentic irish pubs in the city. The atmosphere is great and the staff is wonderful...just ask for Denver or Maggie and you'll know what I'm talking about. They always have a smile on their face and a drink coming your way.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!
- Pros: Inexpenxive, comfortable
