A romantic hideaway above Columbus Circle.
by Karen Hudes at Citysearch
On the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental hotel, adjacent to the lofty Lobby Bar, this tucked-away room offers a spicier alternative for dates and small get-togethers. Waitresses in Chinese silk tops serve drinks to the well-off 30- and 40-something customers, who relax in brown leather chairs or against tall, carved stone-back seats. Cinnabar-painted walls, gauzy gold curtains and bulbs with electric-orange filaments give the ambience a sexy spark. In addition to 20 wines by the glass, the bar serves a variety of extravagantly priced cocktails, some of which are blended with house-infused liquors. .
Classy Spot With One Hell of a View!

Right in the heart of Columbus Circle is a fantastic bar in the hotel of the Marderin Hotel on the 35th Floor of the Time Warner Building. Killing time before a show at Lincoln Center we walked to Colum. Circ. and upto the bar for a cocktail and it is super nice. The drinks are pricey, but you're paying for the ambience which it is amazing! Very Classy...very New York. We really enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend it. If you have time for more than a drink, have dinner at Asiate on the same floor. And if you really have extra time check out the world class spa...also on the same floor. It's worth a trip just to see it.
- Pros: Unbelievable Atmoshphere
- Cons: Pricey...again...worth it
try to get a seat in the lounge area....

Been coming to this bar since it opened in '04, and love it. Yes, the drinks are exorbitantly priced at $18 per glass (the sake is very expensive particularly since the glass is so small), but I love the atmosphere, the decor and the ambiance. Try to get a seat in the lounge area (ask the hostess to put your name down-- if you're not a hotel guest, you will get a lower priority). The bar itself is a little uncomfortable and the patrons a little self involved, but if you can get the lounge area, and avoid the bar area, you will capture a little paradise in NYC. I used to have a favorite cocktail waitress, Olga... I wonder if she still works here. In any case, the food is decent, but, again, pricey. if you know what to expect (a potential wait, arrogant patrons, pricey drinks), then you can enjoy your experience...
- Pros: lounge area, ambience, good drinks
- Cons: pricey, long waits
Fabulous Drinks and beautiful spot!

Enjoyed an amazing evening at MObar Saturday night. The place is chic and sophisticated and the drinks are delicious. I found all of them to be very inventive - I've visited other times and they have new fun cocktails every season. The food was also yummy - We sampled quite a few items and loved everything. I would highly recommend MObar to anyone!
- Pros: Ambience, Food and Drink
For A Good Time

Might be a bit of a wait but well worth it indeed. Creative drink menu, good music and SEXIE atmosphere made my bday a great memory - though no celebrity spotting that night, I'm sure they are around!
- Pros: Creative Drink Menu, Upscale Crowd, Atmosphere
- Cons: $18 Drinks, Wait
best views and decor anywhere. located in the most beautiful hotel in NYC

The drink menu is second to none. The elevator on the ground floor takes you up to the 35th floor in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The doors open and you are filled with beauty with the chihully sculpture and oriental decor. the lounge which is straight ahead has the best view in new york. the bar has one of the best cocktail menus I have ever seen. my girlfriend took it upon herself to taste 4 of them and loved them all. The Mandarin Sunset was her favorite with absolut mandarin, blod orange juice, lychee juice and lillet blanc. I am a large fan of beers and wow do they have a list. The Three Philosophers Quadruple was my favorite. If you like beer and cocktails and enjoy terrific views of central park, you have to go.
- Pros: lounge like atmosphere and spot on service
- Cons: none
GREAT TIME - EVERY TIME

I have been to MoBar a number of times and this is a great bar. The people are sophisticated and worldly, you have great conversations in a fantastic setting, and the nightime views are terrific. This is a hip place for those that want a little elbow room, prefer the company of successful people, and like to enjoy themselves without having to sidestep drunks and slobbering juveniles. You have a wide selection of drinks and I really like the wines by the glass. A little pricey, but what nice place in NY isn't. A great place to take your date or meet one! Very classy.
- Pros: Sophisticated, Wines by the Glass, Wonderful Views
Not worth the time but....

This place is a hotel bar....seriously, like stated at other reviews that are related to the hotel bar scene....you should know what you are walking into.
The Madrian sports 800 min a nite rooms so expect to pay 18 bucks for a drink. This place is nothing but people wasting time with their lives and if they are staying in the hotel, like I was, your room has much more playful things in it than listening to some pencil neck talk about million dollar deals he be wanting to close to get that next big promotion.

One positive. The dirty's are good.
One negative....besides all the other....the mix in the bowls at the bar are Kirkland Costo brand!
Oh and the waitresses are supposed to bow to you but they didn't.
- Pros: See Doc, Shreeding, Next Door
Disappointing...
by Anonymous1975 at Citysearch
Like the earlier review mentioned, the wait downstairs, then the wait upstairs, were pretty annoying...especially when we finally made it inside and saw what we had been waiting for. The office building view was distracting at best, and the space was strangely small. The decor and atmosphere were accceptable--modern and sleek, while the drinks were good but definitely overpriced. I predict this place will just become another unremarkable hotel bar after the novelty and hype wears off.
- Pros: Decor, Service
- Cons: , Size, Price

A group of us thought we would try this place out. Well, after waiting in line for 30 minutes in the lobby and then waiting in another line for 20 minutes upstairs, it was not worth it. The drinks are over priced for the quality you receive. The waitress did not say a word and we had a view of an office building next door. Not recommended.
