HOT COFFEE
by beach buddy 27
We were seven people in our party! The service was so bad, the table was the worst, the food was ok nothing great and to top off the night they spilled coffee down my 22 year old daughters back. Not an enjoyable evening. With so many great places in New York - try someplace else!
- Pros: none
- Cons: very pricey and bad server
Overated and overpriced.

It was a good steak, dont get me wrong. Its really hard to "butcher" a good piece of meat so most anyone can do an average job. However, when you've experienced Peter Luger or even the Strip House, I'm sorry to say everything pales in comparison. The sides are very small. I'm not a bread person but they have these enourmous popovers for the table that my party enjoyed. Overall, I dont think its worth the price but for many single women, the place was crawling with martini drinking carnivores of the male type.
Joyce De Witt seems to like it, she was there with friends, she was lovely in person.
Perfect Dinner Spot

Loved the steak, wine list, and service was great- expensive, but it's worth it for a special night out- I will be back.

Yummy!
My husband and I had a spectacular meal here. The service was great. The food amazing and the atmosphere fun and relaxing. We'll be back.

Disappointed
by tbp9
I was extremely disappointed with the food here. I am a huge fan of kobe beef, so naturally this is what I ordered. It was not tasty at all. It tasted like nothing more than a fatty piece of plain old steak. For that price, I expect a delicious piece of meat.
All that and more...

Trying to maximize our time in New York we went based on one personal recommendation and all the reviews we read on this site. It was a great experience. Very New York. Food, Service, crowd, wait-time, CheeseBoard and ambiance were all excellent. Thank you to those before us who gave such good feedback and helped our decision.
A great NYC experience
by cjobman
I went with 3 other people on a Thursday night about 8:30 and the place was absolutely jam-packed. We were a little early for our reservations so i thought we'd have to fight for some room at the bar(impossible). But to my pleasant surprise, after less then a couple minutes we were promptly seated in the dining room. The food and wine were great, and surprisingly the onion rings were memorable. You wouldn't think that at a top steakhouse that onion rings would standout, but they were great. The filet was cooked perfectly, and the Swordfish was also a good choice. The waitress was a little slow at times, but considering how busy it was I wasn't completely shocked. Overall it was a great experience for an out of towner and will be a place that i'll want to go back to again.
- Pros: Food and ambiance
- Cons: Pricey(but what good place in NYC isn't)
bring the date, take the window seat, take it all in

the girlfriend and i have had many a drink at the long yet narrowly spaced bar. bartenders attentive and efficient. and i have had many outstanding meals with business associates. yet one meal in particular with the gf stands out..there is a cozy inviting small window seat area that you can hopefully enjoy the company of stangers.if you dont travel en posse...its small enough that you will either take command of the couches or make friends..we made friends..the popovers( the undeniable uniquely delicious version of everyother resaurants bread) are dangerous...we decided to share a very well tossed caeser-not a huge fan of over creamed dressin, followed by the perfectly cold dry crisp shrimp the size of an elbow..then the gluttony began..hands down best 3+lb steamed lobster ever served outside of gorges bank..we all know the smaller ones are the sweetest yet the way my girlfiend went "daryl hannah" on it ..was clearly the sign of perfection...bring the girl, drink, meet new friends..careful there are alot of suits as well....
- Pros: popovers, steak, lobster,service,
- Cons: narrow bar
Steakhouse Supreme!
by pcjohnson
In general, steakhouses to me are "cookie-cutter" throughout all of Manhattan. This one stands out as the exception, except that it can be extraordinarily loud which is pretty commonplace. The ambience is warm, the food just delicious, and the service was excellent. One other noteable was the significant representation of young women in the restaurant, many eating in groups of 4+, without the company of men. This speaks volumes, I believe.
- Pros: Food, Service, Location
- Cons: Volume
Good Stuff!
by eatnsgood
went to BLT steak last night in a group of 4. everything was great from the service to the decor and of course the food. Our waiter was very attentive and answered our questions with no problems. we started off with the complimentary pop-overs, which i think i could eat everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner. i considered askign for more but i knew that we were about to gorge ourselves. apps: the oysters were great, the scallop special was amazing, and the tuna tartar was also really good.
then the steak....i ordered the ny strip which was perfectly charred and peppery on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. 2 of my friends had the filet. one thought it was a little fatty which shouldn't happen with filet, but it tasted really good anyway. my other friend had the rib eye, the biggest steak on the menu, which was also perfect. i would rate these steaks up there with any other great steak that i've had.
sides: we had the asparagus, potatoes gratin and gnochi, which were all great too.
desert: the bread pudding and sundae just put us over the top.
all in all, this was a great meal and i would highly reccomend this place.
- Pros: steak and steak and oh yeah steak.
