I have not been here in a long time but decided to come for the Dali exhibit. It was breathtaking and a must see!

This is by far my favorite museum in NYC which says allot, this museum has allot to offer. I recommend going there on a Sunday afternoon with your ipod and you can make the most of your day.
Pros: MODERN ART
Cons: CROWDED

I have been to the MoMa a couple of times. With several members of my family being designers, it is always a good place to go when they come visit. It is among the best sights in New York City, the permanent collection is really varied (from paintings to industrial design), and everything can be covered in a single visit. I had not visited the museum in its original location, but the current building is a piece of modern art in itself.
Pros: Permanent collection, manageable size allows one to cover everything in a single visit

try to avoid big tourist crowds by getting there in the early afternoon or later at night. you only need about 2 hours to get through the museum, so there should be enough time.

I got there right at four and the line was enormous, and it got longer after I got there, but the line moved quickly. I was only standing there for about 20 min, and you can get through the entire museum in about 2 hours, unless you really want to take the time to analyze the art.
Pros: Excellent famous pieces of art that everyone must see.
Cons: It's always crowded and people are always stading in front of the more famous pictures making them difficult to see.

I've been to the museum 3 or 4 times since it opened, and every time I go I discover something new. The permanent collection is incredible...there are too many treasures to count. I love the openness of the space. My only complaint is the crowds--for those of us who can't go during the weekdays, the place is far too crowded to take your time and truly enjoy the work.

I recommend buying your tickets in advance through the museum website or else you'll be waiting in some serious lines. Beyond the initial lines, the museum is such a treat. Make sure you purchase the audio tour and plan to spend several hours going through the exhibitions. Also, the cafe offers good sandwiches and coffees. One tip is that we went to the museum and had tickets right when it opened so it seemed a little less crowded then later in the day. The permanent exhibition is hard to beat.
