I only eat pizza from L'asso.

by oliviaoil11211

L'asso pizza is what pizza should taste like. They have a good variety and their ingredients are always fresh. The salads are really great and cheap, considering one bowl feeds three people. Everyone who works at L'asso is really friendly and accommodating (and really good looking, actually) -- which is hard to come by.

  • Pros: delicious and always consistent
  • Cons: I wish you could take your drinks outside

Best Pizza in NYC

by Ellen1211

I am surprised to see the bad reviews on here. This place is by far the best pizza place I have been to. If you are into the European style thin crust, not too greasy pizza, this is the right place to go. But, if you are into Ray's pizza: lots of cheese and uncooked, wet bread crust pizza, this is not your thing. If you go for dinner around 8, this place is always packed. So, go early. Their drinks are ok, but you really don't go there for drinks. I have also been there for brunch on weekend and ordered Fritata. It is also delicious. The brunch set gives you an entree, a drink (mimosa, bloody mary..etc) and coffee, it's priced reasonably food is excellent too.

  • Pros: good food & staff
  • Cons: Fresh made pizza, so it takes a little long

completely unprofessional

by munchmonster

Waiter was too busy prancing around. Boy trying to be girl with full-on makeup. Prancing around. Ridiculous. Took 1/2 hour to get a slice of pizza. Met up with a table of 6. Waiter was so discombobulated that 4 slices were billed at $2.50 and the other remaining slices were billed at $2.00 even though the web-site advertises $1.00 slices for happy hour. False advertising! Will never return and will advise all in the neighborhood of the poor service.

  • Pros: was none because the staff was unattentive
  • Cons: zero service

Yum!

by SaraA

We were sent here by a barmaid from a couple of blocks away who said she'd regularly ordered in from there.... it was sooo tasty - Truffle Oil is amazing!

The pizzas are great to share and it had a nice atmosphere for somewhere modern.

  • Pros: Tasty, Quick, Friendly
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?

jUST OK.

by Susanise

This place was highly rated so we checked it out. The outside tables were packed and after being seated inside I know why. The front room was basically the kitchen of a big diner. The atmosphere was one of a busy kitchen. The menu was HUGE, almost too big. Luckily we were going in for the pizza and didn't have to go through the whole menu. The pizza was good. The small size was actually quite large and fed two of us with some left over. Prices were OK.

Brick-oven pizzas and more on a hip downtown corner.

by Contributor

In Short
Big windows and a columnar brick oven give this corner restaurant an inviting air. The oven produces an impressive variety of pizzas, including classics like margherita and five-cheese as well as inventions like potato-walnut pizza and one with asparagus, apple, mozzarella and gorgonzola.

Lifesaver delivery!

by MsAlia47

My boss came over to my desk on a Tuesday and told me to find food for a twenty person meeting with clients and board members. The meeting was at 1:30 and he told me at 12:00! I made a few calls and was refused by a few local places until L'asso said they could do it no problem. They showed up on time with pizza, salad and drinks. They were also able to accomidate a few vegetarians in the group. It made my job a lot easier and my boss had no compaints. There aren't too many places downtown that would handle this type of order last minute. They even said we would receive a discount on our next office-sized order.

  • Pros: reliable delivery service

new brunch spot

by carreet

I'm on their email blast so i got an email that said they are now open for brunch on the weekend. I went in with a small group, we usually go to brunch at orlean or belcourt. This was great. they really nailed the goat cheese and sundried tomato fritata. You get some potatos with rosemary and asparagus, plus a coffee and a bloody mary for fifteen bucks. someone at our table also had the italian toast which is super good. its panatone instead of regular bread and they make their own syrup. good work l'asso.

  • Pros: close, friendly, good music
  • Cons: no outside seating

Can't get to Rome? Go to L'asso instead.

by tonic71

I have been to Rome several times and experienced the amazing pizza there. When I go to L'asso I feel as though I've stepped into a Roman pizzeria. The thin crust pizza is excellent. I have many, many times daydreamed about and craved their appetizer consisting of imported Italian buffalo mozzarella and pistachios with reduced balsamic vinegar. Incredible. Truly. The atmoshphere is relaxed and very pleasant. A must visit.

  • Pros: good food, fun atmosphere

If you want a quality slice of pizza and great atmosphere...

by shiaimei

...then come to L'Asso. What can I say. I'm addicted. Since I found out about this little gem, I now only eat pizza here. They do awesome pizza with quality healthy ingredients. Unlike other 'gourmet' type pizza places, though, they do slices. And you can't beat their happy hour- $1 slices Mon-Fri 5-7. I can't even find $1 slices in my hometown of Utica, NY anymore. The people are cool as hell, too. Its a relaxed, hang out with your friends kind of place. Oh, also, their salads and pastas are great as well. Try the Fagotini- (a ravioli) it is delightful, creamy and delicious. Of course, there has to be a downfall. I'll tell you- it is that now I only eat pizza when I'm in Manhattan. 'Cause no where else compares- simple as that.

  • Pros: everything from food to people, to location, to prices (compared to the neighborhood)
