Ruben Colon is the most creative and skilled hair stylist I have had the pleasure to find. My hair has never looked better!! The salon has a dynamic and friendly atmosphere and just watching all of the experts work their magic is entertainment.

A comfortable, casual place where everyone gets the same treatment - great - whether or not you are a VIP, a size 2 or under thage age of 30. What you don't get is the same haircut for everyone. Try Ruben he's easy to deal with-is almost always on time, actually listens to what you want and his charge is in the reasonable NYC range. Highly recommended. Francie27

Ruben Colon has done my color and cut for 3 years. After many years of trials and errors looking for a salon with an artist that can understand all aspect of what I wanted for my color and cut I finally found Ruben. Ruben has a gift of understanding how to see and feel his way through lines and design of cut and color mathching my personality that nobody else could. My first visit was great comming into the salon meeting a very professional staff. Ruben took his time to understand how we could work together for best result. Result was and still is life changing every time I leave. I trust Ruben's heart and eyes to always and all ways have different and exciting results.

friendly staff, GREAT HAIRCUT, and the best part was the hot guy who blew my hair out, dunstin or dustin..- really friendly and professionsal i'm totally going back, great first experience

Pros: shampoo massage, among all the other things

Cons: the fact they cant do my hair every morning!

Coming from the Entertainment Business i am use to all the hype, false claims and smoke and mirror tactics used to boost a troubled business. In short this salon is the perfect example of "pure hype". The haircuts are average at best (you can get the same cuts they offer in any Long Island or New Jersey Salon) but the price and the attitude is off the charts. Upon entering the dingy hallway one can expect to be greeted by a seedy staff that looks like they don't believe in good hygiene ( taking a bath is obviously not a priority for these people) with an attitude that cannot be backed up. Begging for something to drink the water that they gave me was in a filthy glass and when I took one look at the person that was about to run their fingers through my hair for a shampoo I quickly made an excuse to leave..... and that is exactly what I did. Do yourself a favor and find a different salon that has respectful staff in a clean salon. This place is a dump that has the nerve to charge NYC prices.

Cons: Seedy staff

Although I am an uptown girl, I am SO glad I made my way down to Sally Hershberger. I spent years trying to find the right stylist and colorist at fancy Madison Avenue salons....spending a lot of money and consistently feeling frustrated, thinking you must have to be especially beautiful or rich to get the proper expertise and attention. My troubles are over since I have been going to Ruben, who now cuts AND colors my hair with great skill, no rush and undivided attention. I wrote him a thank-you note after my first cut---the best I ever had. You will not leave your chair until you are both happy with the result. I always leave feeling like a rock star!

Ruben has been cutting my hair now for 6 months.. I have seen 20 or more people in all different places over the last few yrs searching for the best.. i have finally found the one that can simply do it right. Im never concerned about a bad haircut and the atmosphere is the best! what i mean by that is, pretty girls at all times walking around in robes. go see Ruben and ur all good!

Cons: my hair grows to slow so im not there more often

Ruben Colon does my hair at Sally Hershberger Downtown and this isn't a haircut...it's an EXPERIENCE! He really makes you feel like you're the only person in the room and treats you like royalty from start to finish. Ruben has given me everything from the perfect trim, to a dramatically different look...all the time making you feel totally comfortable in his expertise. He truly makes those scissors dance across your hair and when he is done you are left with a FABULOUS haircut and a BIG SMILE!

I've been to Niki for color and Allison for cut and LOVE them both... they are professional, unpretentious, fast and talented. Each listened carefully to my input, gave great suggestions on what they thought would work and then executed it perfectly. There's a really snotty vibe in so many "upscale" salons that I can't stand... the attitude it Sally Hershberger is that there is no attitude - it's a very relaxed and easy atmosphere. I'll keep going back!
