Outrageous 'wrapping fee'
by obaingrid
We were also slapped with a 'wrapping fee' of close to 10% on a takeout order of $5.50. The cashier did NOT notify us of the 'wrapping' charge and was unintelligible when taking our oder. And the shrimp dumplings tasted anything but shrimp. Will not return again. Ever.
- Cons: Takeout charge. Poor quality food, lousy service.
They charge a take out fee !!!!!!

I like dumplings as much as the next guy but Dumpling Man has taken greed to a new level. Yesterday I was in ordering some dumplings and while they are overpriced as it is I was in the mood for dumplings. Sitting waiting for my order I looked at my receipt and I noticed something called a takeout cover which added 50 cents to my bill. When I inquired I was told that it was a fee charged for taking my food to go. This fee is not stated anywhere on any menu or sign inside but rather it is silently added to your bill. Why on earth should I pay a premium to get my food to go? The fact that they slip this in there is criminal. I thought it was tacky when they started charging $1.50 for dipping sauce but the takeout fee is criminal. Their dumplings are average and certainly nothing to write home about - they never have been. The only reason I went was b/c it was down the street. These people have some nerve.
- Pros: If you live on ave A its close
- Cons: They charge you 50 cents to take your food to go and yet their dining room is lame, $1.50 for dipping sauce? Please

We love to go to Dumpling Man to watch the dumplings get assembled. My three year old is fascinated and then of course gobbles them up. We even had them as take out at our sons birthday. They were loved by parents and babies alike. Who would think kids (including babies) would adore dumplings so much. We are always happy with the food and we feel healthy eating them too. Also for some reason a few parents mentioned they had taken kids to chinatown and never had this type of sucess with dumplings. There is something special that everyone loves about Dumpling Man. You must go see for yourself.YUM!
- Pros: Watching the dumplings get made and freshness
- Cons: none
Delicious Dumplings

Small place, cute and friendly. The salads are great, and the dumplings are soooo good.
If you want chinese dumpling, asian dumpling, japanese dumpling, or any kind of dumpling... their's are the best... they even have dumplings with tomato sauce.
The t-shirts are soo cute. We got matching pins at the end.
My dumpling heaven
- Pros: the dumplings and the service
- Cons: small place... good to get and take with you

The dumplings are amazing and made in front of your eyes, but it does take a bit of time so don't expect FAST food.
Worth a trip for the ladies - but not the food.
by nic77
I really enjoyed seeing the dumplings prepared. I'm sure the ladies are bored to death, but I didn't know how to make dumplings before my visit. As for the food, I agree wholeheartedly with jcone -- the dumplings, sauce and price were a bit disappointing. If the skin was thin, the sauce had some flavor, and the price was just a little lower, I would be there three times a week. Oh well. I enjoyed my first visit.
- Pros: Fun to watch them make the dumplings
- Cons: Dumplings not that great
worth a stop if you need just something

Places like Dumpling Man aren't for those interested in fine food. Nor are they neccessarily for authentic food. Dumpling Man serves roadside dumplings, and they are not too bad. I just ordered the shrimp ones and used a healthy dose of Siracha on the side. Just fine. I'd rate them just fine. It was awkwardly fun watching the ladies pinch future snacks, but found the experience a bit like watching a g rated peep show about savory pastries. I felt guilty and lucky at the same time to be on my side of the glass. The soda was cold, and welcome...and well, they have a bathroom you can use. That is always nice.
- Pros: no frills, siracha on the counter, entertaining
- Cons: could be cheaper...even, the dumpling sauce is flavorless.
You can't go wrong!!!

I love this place. Cheap, healthy, fast, great tasting, fun atmosphere. Not the best place to order delivery from, best bet is to just go there! You won't be disappointed. Unique and fun.
- Pros: food, fun, inexpensive
- Cons: not the best delivery service
Yea for dumplings!

We, too, wondered why this place isn't called Dumpling Woman, since the smiling dumpling logo looked more like a she than a he. Never mind, I'm quite happy with the dumplings. As an avid maker of dumplings myself, I appreciate the thin, soft, slippery dumpling skin and the simple and delicious stuffing choices. I would not mind more and creative stuffing choices. I didn't try the cold sides available in the refrigerator but they looked fresh. Ambience is fine if you're ok with the on-the-go, counter-eating experience. Or, on a nice day, why not order half a dozen and enjoy the steaming hot little packets in a nearby park?
- Pros: Good dumplings!, Hot, fresh, Friendly staff
- Cons: More stuffing choices, would be nice
Worth a try if you're in the neighborhood

If you have the hankering for a quick Asian meal and you're in the area, I would say stop by. The dumplings are by and large pretty good -- I sampled a variety of different fillings, both steamed and fried -- but some of the different dumplings have a tendency to taste really similar to each other. Reasonably priced, although I would order more than you think you might need at first glance, as each piece is pretty small.
- Pros: Reasonable price, Quick service
