Very Much Worth the Trip!!!
by JDears
Dino BBQ is definitely in my Top 5 places to eat in New York City! While it is certainly not a place for passers-by, those that plan the trip will be handsomely rewarded with a huge plate of ribs, and some delicious side dishes. I personally go for the french fries and beans with my ribs!
The only drawback to this place is that it so so popular that the waiting area cannot accommodate everyone one inside. The bar area could be 50% bigger, and that might do it...but if you can get to the bar, you will find a solid selection of craft brews in bottles and on tap, and the drinks are as good as they get in the City. I had a rookie make my Long Island the other night (it was cute because she was measuring the shots). The second one was clearly made by the veteran bartender who was pouring two bottles from each hand!
Oh, and do yourself a favor, book your reservation online. Makes it much less of a hassle to get your table. Big groups must reserve early since the place is so popular!
- Pros: Great Food, Solid Drinks
- Cons: Bar Area could be bigger

The food was commercial BBQ. The Service was horrible. It was moderately priced.
Don't waste your money.
- Pros: The Beer was Cold
- Cons: The Food & Service
There Must Be Something in the Sauce!
by SRRG7777
I'm not a big BBQ eater, but I've been to Dinosaur BBQ a few times and pretty much licked my plate clean. The Deviled eggs are a must have as an appetizer and every entree I've tried (ribs, brisket) was tasty. The drinks are good and strong. Be sure to leave your mark on one of the bathroom walls.
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere
Dinosaur Rules
by rkrueger1
Dinosaur is like the Disney world of bbq restaurants. Always crowded. Very nice service. Makes the trip up to West 131 St. well worth it. Oh, prices are excellent too.
- Pros: Very good ribs. Good half chicken. Sides are all excellent
- Cons: Brisket and pulled pork are a little dry.
WINGS WERE SO SPICY THEY MADE MY BROTHER CRY
by sHottie
Ok so I heard they had the spiciest wings ever, so I had no other choice but to check them out. When I asked the waiter for them he suggested I go one step below 'hottest' but I told him "No way". They were DEE-LI-CIOUS! Hands down hottest/spiciest wings ever!!!
I take my hat off to you Dino BBQ. Can't wait to make another man cry :o)
- Pros: Spicey Wings & Outdoor Picnic Tables
- Cons: Always Packed
YUM YUM!
by NoemiRockz
I have a love/hate relationship with DinoBBQ. It takes FOREVER to get a table BUT the food is SOooOOo good that you forget about all of that once you sink into those ribs! YUM! Get the Tres Hombres.. brisket, ribs and pulled pork. It hits the BBQ spot. OH and make resevertations!
- Pros: Kings of BBQ..so good... so tender
- Cons: Takes 4EVER to get a table
Must-have BBQ
by yumcity
As a BBQ lover, I can be quite picky. I LOVE this place. I haven't moved passed the pulled pork sandwiches, as they are so good I can't entertain anything else. The major issue I have with this place is the DENSITY of people. You literally can not get in the door, with the crowds spilling out to the sidewalk and street. Waiting is a hassle, I always get take out.
- Pros: Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Slaw
- Cons: Seriously Crowded, SUPER loud
Good for a quick fix...Very expensive and mediocre
by NelyBBB
Cornbread good
Beans-below avg (more like bean soup)
Pulled Pork very good
Sauce -only decent -not even remotely special
Ribs- Below Average(incredibly dissapointng-bad flavor and bad meat.)
Mac and cheese- good flavor but noodles too heavy, hard and thick
Small portions-very expensive
I would go again and get a pulled pork sandwich.
- Pros: pulled pork.. trendy spacious layout ..
- Cons: overall mediocre food at best -small portions-terrible value
Great Wings!
by rosebud158
Love the decor of Dinosaur, large bar area so perfect holding pen for those waiting for tables. I highly recommend the wings, it's a great balance of sweet and spicy. The mac and cheese is also well done and a great complement to the ribs. I do not recommend the brisket, it was dry, dry dry
Fantastic selection of beer, they rotate the selection according to the season. Def worth the trip uptown
- Pros: Large space so the wait wasn't long
- Cons: Bathroom could have been cleaner
DISAPPOINTING
by antsmarchn
Tonight I finally tried dinosaur and was extremely disappointed. Tried the ode to elgin and tres hombres. It included ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and sausage. The meats were all bland as could be, with no smoke ring or flavoring at all. Last time I checked, all good bbq has a nice red smoke ring. Also, would it have been too much trouble for them to pull the membrane of the ribs, so that they might have been easier to cut and chew. This has to be the worst BBQ in NYC and I have tried them all. Save your money and try any other bbq joint in the city.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: EVERYTHING
