I lived in italy half my life, just to state that I do know what I am talking about. I am also not an arrogant person. But una pizza napoletana is...if it were a person. All staff is arrogant....a snobbish "no" when asked for pepper....a 40 minute wait on a nonbusy Thursday. A variety of four pizzas, none w meat or fish.....each $ 20+ There are at least 40 better pizza restaurants in the same zip code, let alone in the city. This just shows you what hype and a short opening season during the week does to (some silly) NYers. Come on, brighten up, smell the fresh pizza elsewhere.
Pros: niente
Cons: pizza, ambience, owner, staff, variety, price

I went there reading about the stellar reviews from Ed Levine. What did I get? Rude service. They served their friends before about 7 tables before them. The pizza was average. It was a pool of olive oil. The tomatoes were bland. The crust was decent. I will say that the cheese was really good. In the end, I would pay 4 bucks for what they gave me. Not $20+. Luzzos is right around the corner. Much better and they are really from Italy.
Pros: Good Mozzarella
Cons: Small, bland, overpriced, rude service

I went in with two friends on a Thursday night, expecting this miracle pizza. To be more then $20 for a small pie you figure it has to be good. It took forever to get a table, and once seated it took over an hour for our 3 pizzas to show up. The pizza itself was bland, a little underdone and not what I was expecting at all. There is far better pizza in this city!
Cons: Slow service, poor food quality, incredibly loud.

Greco's right. Went there with my wife a few months ago. Two pizzas and two glases of wine: $68. Who the frikk wants to pay almost $80 (+tip) for pizza and wine? Where does this guy get the cohones to charge that much for pizza that's not even close to top 10 in New York. If this is what pizza tastes like, allegedly, in Napoli, then I'd avoid that as well.
Pros: For those willing to pay this much for cr*p, it reduces crowds at the places worth going to: DiFara, Tottonno, Nick's, etc.
Cons: Everything

On a gorgeous spring night, I planned on getting a pie from a now mobbed establishment on 14th st. and came here instead expecting a "go-to" last resort pizza. I had somehow heard good things. I was wrong...bigtime. First, the menu has no prices and elaborate descriptions of all 5 or so pizzas, including a margherita pizza....seriously? All pies come in one size...essentially a personal pizza (4 slices), so i order two of them to-go as the place was crowded. As the waitress in the joint rang me up at the cash register (cash only), i was told the cost was $45.60!!!! I was a deer in headlights...aren't i paying for dough and sauce with a bit of cheese on top? If i sat down and ordered a drink from the only waitress visible in the place, i can't imagine the price tag. Afterall, I just got two pies..thats it! Walk by yourself if you want to check out the ambience cause you would never expect a price tag like that in such a boring looking place (not to be harsh, but $$ means it should be comfortable too no?). Anyway, the pizza was eh...very forgettable, totally generic, reminded me of a poor man's JOHN's on Bleeker. It had barely any cheese, wasn't cooked long enough yet the crust was burnt. Basically i bought heated dough, but should've just gotten indian food and ordered Nan...cause thats what i got. If you're looking for good pizza, avoid this place and stick to the old favorites.
Pros: its edible
Cons: bad everything else

Pros: nothing
Cons: everything

Me and my girlfriend have heard rave reviews about this place despite all the bad reviews here on Citysearch . We decided to give it a try since we review many places especially restaurants. We entered and were seated promptly since the place only had a table of 4 and another table of two. We ordered a Diet Coke & Peroni (Italian imported beer). The waitress served us our drinks with empty classes and no ice mind you the drinks were close to room temperature. The diet coke my GF had was flat and watery which they quickly replaced. It was already 6:20 and the waitress asked us what we want in which we replied “One Margherita “the waitress replied “JUST ONE!?” and we said yes. Little did they know we just were sampling the pizza to give a review! The crowd started to come and the place became extremely loud that you couldn’t hear yourself and this is no exaggeration. I was disappointed because the environment was somewhat cozy (reminiscing of a pizzeria in Italy) and dimly lit.Anyway at 7:36 we received our pie which was way to long! (Especially for brick over pie). It seems that waitress was upset that we ordered one pie so she put our order in back of 3 other people that came in after we ordered our pie. When we got pie (which we knew just a little bigger then a personal pie) we couldn’t believe we waited for this! The sauce and cheese were both bland and very limited with no texture. It seemed like the cheese was just goo not even melted. The worst part was our pie was undercooked with raw dough. I was extremely upset so we ate quick being hungry and left. This was one of my worst experiences with pizza and mind you it cost 21 dollars for a plain pie which is as little less the shape of a 12” plate. Be wary because there is only salt no condiments or toppings allowed and bring CASH ONLY. I only tell you this if your need to find out for yourself like my Gf and I .By the way my gf and I are from Italy and know good ingrediants especially for Pizza.
Pros: ok Ambiance
Cons: Noisy if crowded, Poor/rRude service, poor pizza

I am italian born and raised. we went to this place since luzzo was too packed we went in 8 italian guys... we never been trated worse in our life. the pizza is made from people who never been to Italy. it is the totaly pricy (21 dollars for asmall one...) and in top of all I ve asked some olive oil, which for me it is like soy sauce for sushi, and the guy said NO! DO NOT THINK THIS IS AN ITALIAN GOOD PIZZA BECAUSE IT IS NOT. and in top of all the rudest people I ever met in NY. dont go. rude people and full of themselves dont deserve to be in the business. sincerely.
Pros: it is close to luzzo, so if there is too packed and you are very hungry go there.
Cons: rude people, very rude. pizza no salt, nothing to change, very pricy

Why is this place still around? The menu is pretentious (4 menu options with no subsitutions/additions) and you literally have to flag the waiters down for service (they could care less about your experience in the "restaurant"). The venue itself is disappointing and we were dripping with sweat by the end of the evening because the place was so stuffy and cramped. Further, the restaurant had dreadful acoustics... we had to lean over the table and speak loudly in order to be heard. The best part: I got to pay 21 bucks for a mediocre and flavorless 12 inch pizza.
Pros: neighborhood
Cons: price, noisy, cramped, hot, pretentious, i could go on...

No, no, no, no, no, no. Please, no. A basic margheritta pizza is $21. You'd think this would buy you a perfect pizza every time. Not so. 1/3 of our pie was burnt (no, not pleasantly crisp, burnt, like bisquik pancakes left in the pan too long). Nobody cared, and I get the feeling that's the norm. Perhaps it's declined over the past year. The hint of sea salt is nice (when is sea salt not great?), but otherwise there's absolutely nothing worth bothering with, even on the part of the pizza that's cooked properly. Seriously, it's not worth it - please don't waste your time (at least 30-45 mins) and money. And if you must, save some money for the next restaurant. Ours was bad. Very, very bad.
Pros: None really
Cons: The pizza isn't good. Seriously - it's not good.
