The food was great but all of their dishware and cups are disposable. I don't feel like creating that much waste is acceptable any longer. I hate to think about how much waste they generate every day. I wouldn't go back unless they got non-disposable dishware.

My girlfriend and I went there on Saturday afternoon. I wish the wait had been longer, we may have decided not to stay. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes, which, aside from not being green, tasted just okay. In fact, everything was just ok. And that's being nice. I had some special 18 hour smoked meat thing that was probably 50% fat. My girlfriend got the rib tips which were chewy and not all that flavorful. Other reviews have complained that the food had too much sauce on it, but I found I had to drown my dish in the sauce on the table. After we left I felt physically sick (too much fat, I guess). Bottom line, don't expect much here. It sounds like it might be something special, but it turned out to be about as good as Applebees.
Pros: I didn't heave
Cons: The food

Great waitress service and outstanding ribs. BBQ sauce is amazing, Don't forget the extra napkins, gets a bit messy. Good selection of beers too.
Pros: Messy BBQ
Cons: MESSY BBQ

Went to R.U.B. last night, here goes: Beer selection was very good, we waited a good hour to sit(on a saturday night, that was expected)the staff was a little harried but helpful.I had the pulled pork sandwich, it came on a nice roll and was not bad.The beans were a little too spicy, and didn't need to be. The cornbread was off the hook, but the fries were overspiced and soggy. It seemed the food was a bit oversmoked and overspiced but , overall, ok.I would reccomend going midweek, when its a little less crowded.

So far I've only tried their ribs and pulled pork sandwich. It seems as though they use their bbq sauce as a crutch. The ribs were dry and over smoked. Even seemed to have some creosote going on. The sandwich was good but without the sauce it was just your average pulled pork sandwich. The white bread dipped in sauce thus far is the best thing I've had their. Beans, mac and cheese, corn bread are all mediocre at best. The brisket was wasn't bad. But it wasn't great either. At the prices they are charging they should be turning out some awesome que but they aren't. Maybe the cooks the owner trained are lacking but something is definitely wrong. Sit down service was pretty bad but as busy as they are it's understandable. I make better ribs and butts and I'm a novice in comparison. DaisyMays easily eclipses this place in terms of taste and qualtiy of food. Why is it so hard for people to make good que? Their sauce is out of this world though!
Pros: The suace
Cons: Flashy bbq place with not so flashy food.

Totally love Rub.... Our waitress Eviana told us what to eat, burnt ends, pulled pork, great duck. We loved everything except the lemonade, which was watery. Went with a big group and had a blast, messy, decadent grub and super knowledgeable waitress equals the best BBQ joint in the city!
Pros: burnt ends. Service
Cons: weak lemonade

Sometimes the meats and ribs are great, other times they're dry and tasteless. It can be a real crape shoot (CitySearch won't let me leave out the "e"). The sweet tea and baked beans are great. The service is pretty good.

By 2pm they were out of Brisket, Turkey, & Pastrami--of course no one told us this until we had been waiting to order for at least 20 minutes! "I'd like the brisket…" "We're out of brisket. I'll be back." snaps the waiter. After he returns we decide to ask what other things they're out of--he rattles off 2 or 3 more items. 30 minutes later, we finally get our food--well half of it, since they are now out of chicken! The manager is too busy to wait for us to decide on a substitution, so he promises something on the house--which never materializes. After eating, we finally manage to get the attention of our waiter, and ask for the check. The undelivered items were never removed from the bill! When we bring this to the attention of the waiter he snatches it away and says, "I'll ask the manager." He returns with the corrected bill and tosses it on the table--never a "sorry," "please," nor even a single "thanks." We didn't have exact change, so we regretfully left a 60-cent tip. Maybe they should change the name to "Self-righteous Urban Barbecue." Good food, but WAY too much 'tude!!!
Pros: Soft drink refills
Cons: Rude waitrons, long wait, frequently run out of main choices

Wow! Started with the best, perfectly fried "fried green tomatoes" that come with a yummy remoulade. Hush puppies could be a little more flavorful, but they aren't greasy. Boyfriend and I ordered the two meats -- burnt rib tips (that we couldn't get enough of) and the roast chicken that just fell of the bone and melted in your mouth (they were out of brisket at 1:30 on July 4th) -- and the quarter rib slab, which I should've ordered more. The ribs had a beautiful smoke line and came off the bone with ease. The best BBQ I've ever had (I have been to three Big Apple BBQ's) and I can't wait to go back! The iced tea is super tasty too and you can pick sweetened or unsweetened and they give you free refills. Service was very friendly and though they were busy, they would make eye contact from across the room to see how we were doing.
Pros: superb bbq; good, friendly service; good value
Cons: loud, busy
