20% TIP added to bill the and server didn't say anything!!!
by bigeatsDC
I mean really, just tell me you're adding the TIP to the bill. The food is excellent but not saying anything about the 20% being added in hopes I add another 20% is BS!!!
Good food, too loud, pricey drinks
by richardfallah
If you go there to drink, and eat, then you are up for 100+ tab for 2. Food is good and affordable, but the portions are small! drinks are very pricey.
I recommend trying this place and judging for yourself.

Loved the food, we go here after we shop down at the new Pilgrim store on Orchard Street. That is an amazing store and we love coming here for food and drinks afterwards.
The whole lower east side is really great and changing for the better.
- Pros: fresh organic food
- Cons: loud and noisy at times
It's slipping
by girlskoutNYC
This place used to be a favorite. From the mac n' cheese to the french onion soup dumplings, it was pretty impeccable high-end bar food. (The blood orange jalapeno margaritas totally turned me on to jalapeno-infused tequila.) But I went again recently and I think it's definitely in that phase that NYC restaurants go through when they've been open for a few years and they just don't have to try so hard anymore because there will always be some chooch and his girl --or, worse, all their friends--rolling up to eat here.
- Pros: Who doesn't love mini-food?
- Cons: the wannabe Euro-trash clientele
Great food, strong drinks
by MealSchpeal com
Nearly a decade slithered by since Dinner Bitch last complained about New York. It was the best of times and it was the worst of times. But now the time comes not to complain but compliment.
Before packing up for the jaunt home, we went to this little place in SoHo for a parting bite. The drinks were strong and the meal tasty which was pretty much what we expected since the bartender was an old friend from Japonais Chicago and the food was well-reviewed by others. The prices were right too. Ordinarily, this level of accomplishment is insufficient to provoke a strong opinion from anyone but the most devoted zealot. Save one item.
That first French Onion Soup Dumpling was the best thing to have ever oozed into my mouth. There, it exploded with a broth so flavorful my eyes rolled back into my pleasured skull and my nose lifted toward the ceiling in search of warmer air to suck over short-circuited taste-buds. It was amazing; as was the rest of it. But just like the second third and fourth orgasm of the evening, the later bites were mere refinements of the first.
If you inexplicably find yourself at 99 Stanton Street NY NY you should probably stop drinking so much but not before you order those French Onion Soup Dumplings and have a loud obnoxious tongue orgasm at the table.
- Pros: French Onion Soup Dumplings!
- Cons: I'll find one next time.
Tha BEST

I'm just getting into this reviewing thing, but I knew I wanted to start with my favorite restaurants. I love Stanton Social to the ends of the earth!!!! It has been my go-to place when I want to impress friends from out of town or catch up with my girls. The food is always good and if you get there early or make a reservation, its really not too annoying how crowded it is.
- Pros: Best place to go with girlfriends
- Cons: Busssssy
AMAZING FOOD AND DRINKS!
by cc938
Every dish we ordered tasted wonderful. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had Kobe beef sliders, Tuna with wasabi, some pizza dish and others. They were all VERY GOOD.If you have a large group, they cut everything into smaller pieces so everyone can share. Would definitely go back! But make sure to make reservations as they get really packed!
- Pros: Great food & drinks, great service
- Cons: A little pricy but totally worth it
The Stanton ANTI-Social
by GuerillaShopperNYC
Located on Stanton Street on the Lower East Side of New York dwells The Stanton Social, a popular restaurant that serves a variety of "small plates" to everyone's delight. The theory is that sharing dishes, which arrive throughout the duration of the meal, makes for a very "social" experience, and thus the name of the restaurant, I suspect.
This sounds like a beautiful notion.
Except that my experience there this weekend was unbelievably anti-social, thus the clever little name I have rebranded this place with (The Stanton ANTI-Social).
My friend and her fiance invited me to meet them there, so that we could have a drink and catch up. When I got to the restaurant, they were about finished with their meal, so I sat next to my friend on the "booth side" of the table. Suddenly some guy with short, wavy brown hair, who we later learned is the manager, came over and said, "this is NOT a three-person table, you can NOT all sit here." So my friend's fiance agreed and we all nodded along as the manager-boy ran off. We then quickly started to complain amongst ourselves about what an uptight freak this guy was (and is, everyday of his life, I suspect). Not ones to stay where we aren't wanted, we asked the waitress for the check and continued on with our conversation while we waited for it. About 7.2 minutes later, the manager-lad returned to the table demanding, "ONE OF YOU HAS GOT TO GO." Again, my friend's fiance agreed, explaining that we were waiting for the check.
The check came, we paid, and got up to leave. As I was walking out the same manager-dude said, "thank you, gooodniiight!" To which I responded, "um, yeah, right." Then my friend stopped him and explained how that was the rudest most uncalled for experience she had ever had in a restaurant in her entire life and that we would make sure never to return and recommend the same to all of our friends.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: The service; attitude
Total Rip Off
by giokeno
Wouldn't it be great if you could run a business where you overcharge your customers, treat them like cr@p and not care when they complain? Well that must be what the owners of the Stanton Social feel like. We ordered 9 items for 4 people and the running joke throughout the night was that the food was so small, you almost couldn't see it on the plate. We were told by the waitress at the beginning that everything was served "Family Style" and meant to be shared - but what you end up sharing are half-bite sized morsels about the size of 1/4 of a business card. I can't imagine anyone ever leaving this place feeling full. The fact that they even give you utensils for food that you can eat with toothpicks makes it even more absurd.
- Pros: Good portion sizes if you're an elf
- Cons: Terrible attitude by the staff
