The rock bar that competed for the after-hours scene in Chelsea is now the upscale lounge Citrine.
by Erin Behan at Citysearch
The Scene
Get past the name and the occasional doorman to find a Chelsea bar with a warm rock-and-roll vibe. If the band (or the buzz for drop-in performances) is good, the red-washed interior fills with music execs, indie hipsters and fresh-faced groupies. Chances of catching a celeb at the next banquette are high, given that Velvet Revolver bandmates Scott Weiland and Duff McKagan and Fuel vocalist Brett Scallions are partners in the venture.
The Draw
The room comes alive late at night, when bands take to the intimate circular stage. The tables and red banquettes lining the wall fill quickly, meaning a standing-room-only crowd dominates during performances. A crisp sound system balances the music across the long room and delivers the required punch. True rockers stick with Bud, as the mixed drinks, though strong, aren't cheap. Early evenings, the flat-screen TVs show a variety of sports.
There?s nothing ?rock n? roll? about this place?
by Narrator at Citysearch
There?s nothing rock n roll about trendy mini clubs opening all over the place, requiring bottle service and making people wait on lines while the bar is empty. The idea behind Snitch was cool, but when you have douchebagz running it like some trendy club for old people and tourists buying bottles, it loses its appeal.
- Pros: It's warm in the winter...? (NONE)
- Cons: Everything.... size, crowd, door, management, etc..
Are you kidding?

What happened to this place? Scott and Amber is what happened. Promoters RUINED this place. Not that it had much going for it... Jon, (the scummiest knucklehead of 1999"?? Sad. This is what happens when the (lamest) inmates run the asylum. Anyway, sad. forget it. Bad bands et al. Sorry kids. CBGB's is CLOSED
- Pros: Rock music
- Cons: Starbucks style of rock music
Best Rock Club I ever Been Too
by woody07 at Citysearch
We have been going to snitch throughout the years..I admit I always liked it but it started to decline..in the past few months we have been going a bit more often..to see friends bands, etc. The place has been sick. we went on a Tuesday and the whole band Avenged Sevenfold was there apparently celebrating the singers bday. we were told to check out Monday. It was the best rock party I have ever been to.Without a doubt!! The bands were amazing and the place was filled with hot, hot, hot women and rocker types alike. If you want a real NYC rock experience..this is the place. SNITCH YOU GUYS ARE THE SH*T!!!
ROCK N ROMPEROOM IS MORE LIKE IT ... HORRIBLE!
by frannip at Citysearch
I don't even know where to begin there are so many problems! Had my bday gathering with about 20 friends. All of us are thirty something, easy going, trendy, down to earth people. We were expecting a trendy upscale rock bar. What we found was a frat house run by a bunch of kids who could really care less about their jobs rather than getting drunk along with the patrons.
There were all 18 year olds in there (isn't this a bar??????). The staff was nothing less than RUDE, obnoxious, and absolutely horrid to the patrons. I even saw an employee pick a fight in the ladies room ... And she DID PICK THE FIGHT for no reason!!! Where was the security??? Downstairs collected side cash to let in the 18 year olds that's where. Some guy (another patron) had to go in the ladies room and break it up. I guess she was cranky (like a child throwing a tantrum!!!).
I find it hard to believe that ANY celebrity would have their name and reputation tied into such a dive like this place. My friends and I spent alot of money in there and didn't even get so much as a single buy back or a replied "good night" when we left.
Absolutely disgusting, horrible experience. Even if the music was great I wouldn't be caught dead in this place. SO not worth it!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: filthy, rude staff, no security, pricey, illegally young
What happened to this place?
by rockdude01 at Citysearch
WHat the heck happened to this place? It used to be a really cool, fun place to hear great rock DJs like Matt Pinfield & DJ Strip. I dont know who they have DJing now but they are definitely not rock DJs at all! And the quality of bands that play there now has definitely gone down hill big time! And whats with all the ciggarette smoke! 420 would be alot nicer! This place is over big time!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Smokey, small bathrooms, bad music

by md48574 at Citysearch
Went here for the 3rd or 4th time on Sat nite, my sister's friend was having a b-day party there...holy smokes, what a good time...the play list was amazing, mama said knock you out followed by 99 problems then some newer rock songs, and cheesy fun stuff like smash mouth...I was dancing with some drunk girls, amazing time...everyone I spoke to the next day was talking about how much fun it was...just a great vibe of people letting loose and having fun...cute girls as well...drinks were somewhat pricey but in the back they had $7 vodka cran/orange, delish....I recommend big time....
- Pros: People, atmosphere, vibe, music
- Cons: drinks are a little costly, cover charge...
Scary, Cracked-out Bathroom Attendants
by review26 at Citysearch
This place was super-packed, grimy, had not-so-great music, dumb bartenders, and a scary bathroom attendant. It was fun at first, we didn't have to pay the cover, and luckily had seats, but things went downhill after that. When we finally got the bartender's attention, she messed up our change and had a hard time grasping her mathematical error. After that, in the bathroom, my friend put a buck in the woman's basket and grabbed a lollipop and I grabbed a life-saver (was going to tip her on my next trip). So the crazy attendant blocks the door and demands that we both tip. She was cracked out and scary, so I ended up paying a dollar just to get out. Most ridiculous situation ever! Shortly after that we were booted from our seats for people that bought bottle service, so we left and never even saw the band we actually went to see. Won't be going back.
- Pros: If you're on "the list", there's no cover
- Cons: BATHROOM ATTENDANT..don't go in alone
SMOKER'S PARADISE: TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by chiron83 at Citysearch
Good music. However, the bar lets people smoke everywhere. They refuse to enforce the law even when confronted by other patrons. It is a terrible establishment and will be closed down eventually for not following the law. Terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Pros: Good music.
- Cons: Expensive drinks, big lines, smoky patrons, terrible service, defiance of law
The truth about Snitch...
by realitychecker at Citysearch
First of all Snitch is and never has been "owned" by Velvet Revolver or Fuel. A promoter named Mike Diamond who worked there in the very begining "04 brought them in and they pulled out in 6 months when they realized that the place was being run by a bunch of dopes on dope, Mike Diamond would soon leave as well . It is now owned by a bunch of trust fund wannabees from New Jersey and a few C-list promoters. They let people smoke there and do other illegal activities as well. The only good thing about the place now is the soundman/DJ Strip who manages the place and reconfigured the sound and stage so bands like mine would actually want to play there. Other than that its overpriced door charge and drinks are enough of a reason to stay clear of this fake rock club. Oh yeah and the employees write fake positive reviews on this site so dont be fooled.
- Pros: Great soundman
- Cons: Too smokey
