Excellent Food in a Very Nice Room
by willis69
Excellent food across all our courses, with a fairly comprehensive and standard Italian menu. A really nice space comprised of two rooms, the back one might seem like Siberia but actually had just a more layed(sic) back vibe. Our waiter and the rest of the staff were very friendly and the whole experience differed from typical theater district restaurants, though it's also a bit pricier, I noticed that there were quite a few people taking tables as we left so the food can stand on its own.
Everything....Outstanding

La Masseria was Excellent! The food was terrific and the service, outstanding. My Fiance and I loved each course, from the stuffed Mozzarella, to the Vin Cotto & Ravioli, down to the Tiramisu. The staff even sang to her for her birthday... making the night extra special. We sat immediately and the food arrived just as quickly. Even found a reasonably priced bottle of wine. I'd definitely recommend La Masseria - it's a must......especially if you feel like enjoying your dining experience as much as we did.
best restaurant in the neighborhood

i work around the corner and go to lunch every day...la masseria is by far my top choice. i've had nearly everything on the menu at this point and have never been disappointed. friendly staff, fresh ingredients, clean atmosphere, etc. it gets its share of the theatre crowd, especially tuesday matinee, but other than that you can turn up and get seated immediately. nightime i've had similar exeperiences. can be pricey, but a very good value for your money...strongly recommended!
- Pros: excellent food, friendly service, lots of choices on the menu
- Cons: in midtown
Feels like Italia
by gripdxd
I was here recently for a company sponsored event and was very impressed. The inside has an inviting warm Italia feel. The seating outdoors is spacious and the service was great. Food was good and we really enjoyed their appetizers at the cocktail hour. Their wine selection looks very interestsing and I look forward to giving it a whirl sometime. I would go here again to not only eat but just drink and enjoy a bottle of wine on their patio. I found the staff very welcoming. My boyfriend and I were very pleased.
- Pros: Wine List, Servers, Food and Patio
- Cons: None
Probably the best Italian in the area
by mbp117x
It's not generally recommended as a neighborhood to get dinner, but if you should find yourself having to dine in the theater district I would highly recommend this excellent Italian restaurant. It's a real jewel in an area where the food is often "just OK" and the tabs can get large. La Masseria isn't exactly cheap, but considering the area and the quality of the food, it's a real bargain. The pastas are particularly good, but the other dishes that I've had are excellent as well. They also know how to work in a crowded environment: the service was very good and the restaurant went from crowded to standing room during the duration my party's meal. Which brings me to the next issue -- this place isn't a secret any more and it gets busy. If you want to be promptly seated, you'll need to make a reservation on most nights.

A vist to Italy without the plane ride!
by anapacmh
Think Tuscan Villa with a splash of the spice of Southern Italy. I am a devoted La Masseria patron. Even when it is busy (pre theater) the food comes out perfectly. So good I wanted to keep it my secret. My husband is Italian and is very critical when it comes to food. La Masseria is now his favorite restauant in all of New York. I could describe the food, but words would not do it justice, you have to taste it for yourself.
- Pros: Food, price, decor

wonderful, warm italian country atmosphere. loved the food - especially the fried zucchini - yum! also make sure to try the stuffed mozzerella as an appetizer - our table devoured the dish. service is very friendly (ask for Pepi) - also great wine by the glass at the bar.
