excellent soccer bar
by jf42
This place is a must for the World Cup. Great neutral place to watch without the obnoxious soccer fan scene. Both the lounge, which has a huge TV screen, and the bar area were packed for the games. The place also seems really cool at night - with great DJs and friendly staff. Definitely a cool, classy place in the East Village - a unique, good feel there.
- Pros: Friendly staff, cool atmosphere, great music
- Cons: none
A Good Night, Fun Place But a Little Crowded
by krisnyc
Went there for a friend of a friends birthday. Cool design [a bar and a seperate lounge room], good drinks (bartenders a little slow), and good dj's. The crowd was a nice good looking mix, not too young. This isn't a top 40 playing type of place and is a spot in the EVillage that I'll be coming to again.
- Pros: vibe, drinks, music
From one barfly to another

A co-worker recently had his birthday party here. There wasn't much going on, mostly guys oddly enough but it isn't a gay bar, maybe we were there on a slow night. It was during the week. We wound up leaving after an hour and wandering down Avenue A to find a place with more of an E.V. crowd, more going on. The drinks are also on the high side for the neighborhood, definitely a bit upscale here.
- Pros: In East Village
- Cons: Not much of a crowd., You'll pay for drinks
Good Times....

I first went to Mundial this summer during the day and was happy to find a cool litte outdoor space in the back where I could hang out with my friends, order drinks and get food delivered. I went back in the evening and even though it was a different crowd it was still a great place to hang out. The drinks were well priced, the music was great (the dj there is smokin' hot!) and the I never had to wait more than a minute for a drink no matter how busy it was. Mundial has great live music a couple nights a week (I know that Tuesday is one of the nights). I prefer to go on Wed and Sat nights because the bartenders are easy on the eye and its a really good crowd. Go to Mundial, good drinks, hot staff, good times....
- Pros: Bartenders, Drinks
- Cons: Its closes at four
hot bartenders

surprisingly, wednesday, saturday and sunday nights are this place's happening hours....bring your peeps for some behind the bar eye candy and don't forget to bring lots of $$$$ for tips!!! the service outweighs all other aspects of this bar- don't be put off by its sports-bar rep....
- Pros: bartenders, music
- Cons: specials, no caberet license
Not much atmosphere
by tsand77
The place is a bit stark--not too much in the way of decoration or character. It was a ghost town on Saturday, with a few Upper East side types straggling in. Not much of a local vibe, which is too bad. Drinks are also expensive for this neighborhood.
- Pros: good location
- Cons: not much personality, non-local patrons, expensive
Not the best night out in the East Village
by cadams79
I had high hopes for Mundial. From the outside at least, it looked like it might be a cool place. But after visiting a few times over the summer I realized this is a place looking for an identity. One night it is a sports bar with a soccer game playing; another night it's a disco with a lame DJ spinning; another night they'll have a band playing experimental music. On weekends it is strictly an Upper East Side crowd, which drives away the locals. They ought to focus on one thing and do it right and try to cater to the East Villagers who live all around the place.
- Pros: Good location
- Cons: Everchanging vibe, Garden closes early, Annoying music
Fav new local Bar

Was there over the weekend. Dj playing stuff unlike the typical garbage you hear everywhere. Drinks were pretty cheap; and the crowd good looking and mostly local from what I can tell. The back yard wasn't big put did allow for place to relax though I guess they had to close it early.
(btw the A/C was on inside--the last reviewer complained that it as hot outside; guess maybe he's looking for a domed stadium? )
- Pros: music, drinks, crowd
- Cons: size
An urbane soccer bar with a minimalist design.

In Short
Five monitors entice sports fans to view their preferred game with a beer of choice. But it is an international mix of soccer fans, from Great Britain to Great Neck, who overtake the space, distinguished by a wall of mirrors and contrasted by natural brick. The locale also boasts a lounge area, with two table-top screens, and weekly live Brazilian music or a Bossa Nova band. A DJ spins hits Wednesday through Sunday afternoons.

This place is not recommended at all, it was extremely hot, the music sucked and the selection of tap beer was not that great. I think they need to put something other than Telemundo on their televisions. I know it's there theme but its not that cool. Also the backyard that was highly boosted wasn't that big and was hotter than the inside.
