Best IRISH Tavern in NYC

by weehawkenbill

My friends and my associates have been going to THE ROGUE since they first opened their doors....it's refreshing to see that this local tavern has only gotten better and even friendlier...I didn't think that would be possible. We have held numberous corporate events both upstairs in the lounge and downstairs when we didn't need as much room. The manager, Carol, has always made our events top-notch....great service from the staff is what keeps us coming back time and time again. Although this tavern can look busy....service is never, EVER compromised. If you haven't been to the ROGUE in awhile...it's time to go back.....if you have never been there.....you deserve this Hell's Kitchen treat!

  • Pros: Service / Prices / Drink & Food
  • Cons: No Strippers

Better than I thought

by McSTTEEVVEE

So after getting stood up by my date outside of an italian restaurant I turned to my right and saw an option of 2 bars. Both seemed cool but one had cute blonds standing out front so...took my chances and strolled into the Irish Rogue. It was about 6pm so it was kinda busy inside. I found a nice seat in the back at the bar and the bartender greeted me w/a beautiful smile and a friendly hello. She ran through all the happy hour specials for me and after finding out they had 4 dollar beers all night I knew I made the right decision. I stayed so long I managed to order food 2 times. Mac n cheese to start (mmmmmm w/bacon might I add) and some sort of Chipotle burger by the 3rd hour to sober me up. The burger was out of this world. Not exactly pub grub. And I managed to make a few friends. Better than my date probably would've been I got lucky enough to be entertained by a live Irish band, exchanged numbers w/some cool people and had a great time. Think I'll be going back soon to try and get the managers number. She was breathtaking. So anyway, sucks I got stood up but I had a better time w/out her. Girls suck but the Irish Rogue wont let you down.

  • Pros: cool staff, excellent burgers
  • Cons: wasted my day away sinking in the all night happy hour

Great Pub in an unlikely location

by maddermaus

No one will ever accuse the Irish Rogue of having the best food in Manhattan, but it's still pretty damn good, and the price point is unusual for it's location sitting on the outer fringe of the Times Square.

It's definitely a place that I frequent from time to time when i'm in the area. The food is good and the staff is very friendly. When it's busy the service does slow down a bit, but if you are sitting in the over-stuffed leather barrel chairs by the front window you won't mind too much.

So - If you are in the Time Square area and you want a really good burger, wings and beer at a very affordable price check it out.

  • Pros: Good food at a great price. Friendly staff.
  • Cons: The sports crowd can get noisy

Friendliest Service in Hells Kitchen

by NYUChris

Irish Rogue is very relaxing, staff is excellent, prices are reasonanble. When we go in as a group during the week for lunch or Monday nigh for winds, we get treated as family. The Monday night waitresses are wonderful and the daytime staff is great. If you haven't tried the Irish Rogue, make it your new favorite hot spot to sit, chill, relax and watch the game.

  • Pros: Good Servive, Great Staff, Reasonanble Prices
  • Cons: WEAK Drinks

I don't understand what's up with these bad reviews? The bar is as great as it ever was! Maybe better! I love this place- great food, great service, and the staff is fantastic! That other reviewer is nuts!

Nice bar, good food, friendly

by 11222

Went here on a Friday night. The bartender was nice (and cute!), prices reasonable, and the bar food is really good!! The place was not too busy, it would have been nice with a little more of a crowd, but overall great bar.

  • Pros: Good bar food, friendly, inviting
  • Cons: a little empty for Friday

Great People

by kevinjnyt

The Irish Rogue has to be the best bar-restaurant i've ever been to in my life. I have been to about 15 bars in the midtown area over the last 20 years and no place can compare to The Irish Rogue. Lets start with Carol, who is the manager. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone is having a great time. Upon request she always reserves me a seat at the bar for any major sporting event. She gives you the V.I.P service ( including a name place at your seat ). She is the best. Then you have your bartenders- Irene, who i never seen in a bad mood, always ask me how the Rangers are doing? You have Moira ( great hair ) who can sing with the best. Yvonne, Mick, Roger & Corey who always provide great customer service and are always very friendly. Can't forget to mention the servers, Katie, Annette, Andrea, Emily, Nieve, Eileen, Arlene, & Caroline who all work very hard but always have the time to say hello and make you feel welcome. I hope i didn't forget anyone. They are without a doubt the greatest bunch of people i have ever met. As for the bar....Big screen plasma televisions. Party lounge on the sencond floor ( which i must admit to attending a few ). They also have a pool table & dart board. Live music every Thursday night. I try to get to The Irish Rogue 2 - 3 times a week. I would go 7 days a week if i didn't get hangovers. lol. I highly reccomend the Irish Rogue. It's always numer 1 on my list of things to do.

  • Pros: Great cutomer service, Beautiful girls

Exception

by nmr76

I try to avoid Midtown/Times Square at all costs but for the Irish Rogue I make an exception. Vast beer selection, hearty food selection including many great sandwiches, delicious wings (on Monday's they have a wing deal). I have been there with a big group on our way out to watch games at Giants Stadium (Port Authority right there) and they have been very accomodating. I've also been with just a couple of people and have been pleasingly entertained by the hot wait staff and bartenders. Good place to watch sports too.

  • Pros: Big Space, Great Staff, Good beer and Food
  • Cons: Midtown!!

  • Pros: Friendly staff. Not overcrowded.
  • Cons: Parking.
