Great atmosphere and accommodating staff

This weekend I threw my friend a bachelorette party and we decided to have dinner at Employees Only. I was allowed to decorate the table (with inappropriately shaped confetti, natch) and the servers kept coming up to the table and admiring the gifts. They seemed as excited about the party as we were! They were kind and accommodating throughout the meal. Speaking of the meal, it was delicious, and complemented well by the yummy cocktails. They were a bit pricy, I'm not going to lie, and we all ended up spending more than we wanted to, but I think it was worth it for the special time we had.

I almost forgot, they have a psychic who does palm and tarot readings... she was so, so, but it was a fun treat anyway. Great spot for bachelorette parties!

Not worth your time

This bar sells itself as an after work hangout, but acts like some pretentious meatpacker club. The door staff is incredibly rude, and the service inside is positively wretched. If you want good drinks but not to be treated horridly, go to one of the many other top notch bars in the area.

Worst bar in the West Village

That photo above shows the ENTIRE bar. It is VERY small and extremely crowded. Crowded full of pretentious d-bags. And it's overpriced. Don't waste your time if you actually want to enjoy your evening.

Don't be impressed by their stars. It looks like the Bouncer is the Owner of the place!

Not impressed, rude bouncer and if you are a bit drunk then you'll get charged for somethings that you didn't even ordered, hopping you are too drunk to realize. I've been to this place many times at the beginning when they were more down to earth and it was nice back then, but now the different is colossal. I don't appreciate my friend being mistreated, even when I am the one expending over $1000 in drinks. I don't care about money as long as the service food, and drink are in accordance with what I am spending. Don't be impressed by their stars since they got then back when they were good, back in 2007, but if you check now how many stars they've gotten in 2008, you'll see the difference.

FABULOUS!

I went for a friends birthday here a couple of weeks ago...the host, wait staff, bartenders and door men could not have been more friendly! After having one of the best drinks I have ever had, we sat down for dinner which was nothing short of perfect! The service was fantastic, the atmosphere had a great vibe and everything was just wonderful! I highly recommend this place, they certainly deserve 5 stars, everything was so great...I will be back again soon!!!! I recommend the mushroom nocchi for an app, the organic chicken was to die for as an entree and do not skip dessert...the chocolate cheescake is completely sinful! Can't wiat to get back there...only negative was the tarot card reader was awful, but atleast she was friendly!

I always have a good time at Employees Only. The drinks are great, the staff is friendly and the crowd is fun. What's not to like?

Adore this place

Had my birthday here and they treated me and my guests perfectly.

Even though half of my party arrived late they still let all of us order from the brunch menu.

The drinks are extremely tasty and different.

And the atmosphere is perfect!!! Love their fire place and the little back area that they have, its great. Oh and the food was cooked to perfection we left there full and feeling good.

Oh and I had my cards read to me by the fortune teller they have by the door, she was great too bad I forgot her name!!!

DO NOT GO HERE!

It has turned from a cool bar into a mix of horrible crowd + rude staff. The last 2 times I went they added something to my check that we never had and charged to much on my credit card. Never going there again.

Do Not Go Here!

I've lived in the neighborhood for four years and Employees Only has turned from a fun, no-attitude place with good drinks to a snobfest hang-out for power-tripping bouncers.

ALTERNATIVES to Employees Only (walking distance)...

- White Horse Tavern (Hudson and 11st St) - fun no frills bar with good beers on tap, nice bouncers, and great table service. There's outside seating as well.

- The Other Room (Perry and Washington St) - wine and beer only. Really good, reasonably priced wine. Awesome knowledgable bartenders, cool atmosphere, cozy and cute.

- Art bar (8th Ave at Jane St) - really cool atmosphere with cushions, lush couches, and pillows. great service, nice people

Went there on Friday at 9:30p. It was early, so the place was pretty empty. After ordering a drink with friends, more friends called me and were lost, so I went outside to meet them. They were standing right in front of the entrance. Upon turning around...

Bouncer: "You can't go inside"

Me: "I was just inside, my friends and drink are still there".

Bouncer: "So you want to go back in there with MORE people? I don't think so. You have to wait 45 minutes"

What a power trip! The place was not crowded, I had two people with me and a drink inside. He refused to let us in so I had to call my friends inside and tell them we were outside. We happily left to go to the White Horse (down the street) where their was no attitude, better service, and good beer on tap. I will never go back to Employees Only again. It's so sad, it used to be really nice and fun.
