CHEAP WEAK DRINKS AND SO SO BBQ
by hungryallen at Citysearch
If you have never eaten BBQ you might like it at the Bonelick. The sauce isn't that flavorful and the portions are on the small size. Most of the food feels like it was freshly nuked for you. I think they buy the packaged ribs at the D'Agostino's and nuke them up. The red velvet cake is must to avoid. It is so dry and the frosting so sicky sweet. Walk around the corner to the Magnolia Bakery and eat the real thing. Plus the red of the food coloring stained my shirt. The drinks are weak , they are cheap but they are lousy. They need to clear out the folks who stick to the bar like flies. They scare away customers.
- Pros: nice decor, clean, cheap drinks
- Cons: weak drinks, horrible red velvet cake, noisy w/heavy drinkers
Seriously So-So
by Gamer226 at Citysearch
Just went there today and was highly underwhelmed. The prices were really high. Portions were not-too-big. The side (okra) was average. The brisket was cooked acceptably, but again, not impressive. The waiter-recommended baby-back ribs were ok. The sauce is decent. Basically, either they should increase the quality of BBQ (difficult) or lower their prices. Also, no-refills on my coke even though I finished it right after I got my food. I'd like to give them a 2.5 star. I'm from Texas though, so maybe I expect too much...
Oh yeah, a bunch of people around me were raving about the margaritas.
- Pros: Apparently the Margaritas
- Cons: Price of BBQ
Quality for a good price

Wife and i dined here and had the onion rings, beef ribs with collard greens and pulled pork with mac and cheese.
The onion rings were great as was the dipping sauce, the ribs and bbq were good (pork came pre sauced which we hate but it was still good) and the mac and cheese was very good.
Only disappointment ws the collard greens which needed more flavor.
We also got drinks which were strong and cheep, probably not the best mixed but for the price they had a good kick.
The price is the big winner here. It's ribs were better than pricier places like blue smoke and the pulled pork was on par with other places and it is the same price range as texas bbq (and MUCH better).
- Pros: Good prices, good food, good drink
- Cons: sides are a bit bland
Budget stretching Dessert (Red Velvet Cake) and Strong Drinks
by yumcity at Citysearch
Visited Bone Lick Park the other day... the collard greens were amazing... everything else was so-so (be prepared for a touch of $ sticker shock). I was shocked by how great the Red Velvet Cake was... super-tall, super-moist, not too sweet. The frosting clearly was made with butter and cream cheese and was heavily studded with chopped pecans. The slice was large enough to share (and then some). I ordered the Pecan Pie (which was a bit on the sad side) and ended up eating practically all of my dates' dessert. Will visit again, for the drinks (nice and strong, if you get the "right" bartender) and the def. for the Red Velvet Cake...
- Pros: Red Velvet Cake, Collard Greens, Cool Ambience
- Cons: Ordinary BBQ, Noisy, Inconsistent Service
Good brunch but expensive if you're not drinking
by shrimp1021 at Citysearch
While it took a little while for the waitress to discover we were sitting at one of her tables, the service was decent after that. All 4 of us liked the food, and portions were big. It seemed a touch overpriced, but if any of us had taken advantage of the all-you-can drink bloody mary's, momosa's, etc. it would have been just right! I appreciated th real maple syrup served with the pancakes.
- Pros: decor, BBQ
- Cons: service, price
Bad Brunch
by EastieBeastie at Citysearch
I agree with the other reviewer. I had a similarly bad brunch. The food was really just not good at all, even the scrambled eggs were bad. The cost was higher than on menupages. And it was just a horrible value. Wouldnt go back.
- Pros: interior decor was good
- Cons: food, value
Authentic Southern Touch, reasonable prices and wonderful food!
by deacondawg at Citysearch
Pleasantly surprised. I am very critical of BBQ and southern customs in general being a southern gal myself. This place more than surpassed my expectations. The service was great and the food even better. Dry rubbed baby back ribs were some of the best, leanest I've ever had. The $3.50 margaritas and mojitos are nothing to look over either, they were delicious. Highly recommend this place.... for anyone!
- Pros: great service, lots of dessert options, open to change ups on menu
- Cons: no buffalo wings, only bbq -- of course
TERRIBLE BRUNCH!
by wardellminor at Citysearch
Brunch is not really a good value. The wait staff is told to basically watch the tables and be sure to cut them off when 60 minutes of "unlimited" mimosas is reached. Additionally, the wait staff times your drinks... you finish one and they wait 10 minutes before they entertain the thought of bringing you another..which is fine if you didn't entertain it as being unlimited mimosas on the sidewalk sign... Had the chicken been good then I wouldn't have minded the rude waiter or the lack of "unlimited drinks".. The chicken was probably 2 days old and left a lot to be desired. Additionally, the waiter copped an attitude when I asked him for condiments 5 minutes after receiving my food. We were there for fifty minutes and did not even reach the 60 minute unlimited drinks time limit. While the macaroni and cheese was good... the chicken left a bad taste in my mouth, LITERALLY! Perhaps creating a hostile relationship between the customer and waiter is the goal of the management... and in this respect, the management succeeds!
- Pros: MAC AND CHEESE
- Cons: CHICKEN! SERVICE- or lack thereof
GREAT CATERING!
by anothername at Citysearch
I ordered from Bone Lick for my company's holiday party. We had 3 whole turkeys smoked for us in addition to a whole suckling pig! Not to mention a whole slew of sides like mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and thier amazing brown sugar yams. Everything was so wonderful. The food was so awesome and really out of almost 100 employees- not a single one complained!!!! That is no small feat! The whole pig was succulent and just crazy to look at and the turkeys were actually moist. I've been getting so many compliments on how great the food was, I just had to share. This place is a real crowd pleaser, my employees are all asking me for the lunch menu now! Ordering was easy and the delivery was right on time. I recommend Bone Lick to cater for any occasion.
- Pros: whole turkeys, whole pigs, catering
- Cons: I can't think of any!
Pulled pork: yes! Mojitos: yes!
by yeajackson at Citysearch
This place is affordable, friendly and tasty. Enough so that I meet up with friends here weekly to enjoy a few refreshing mojitos or margaritas. As other reviewers suggest, if you're only going to try one thing, get the pulled pork. Its the closest to Carolina-style pulled pork that you'll find. Its far better than some of its competitors in the city, especially those pretenders in the Times Sq. area. They leave a bottle of sauce on the table as tastes may vary.
If you're interested in the brisket, ask your server first whether its a good brisket night. Also, the catfish is fairly reasonable and the salads are better than you'd expect. On the other hand, avoid the burger and the fries. In terms of atmosphere, sitting at the bar or outside is the way to go. When you sit at the bar, the gigantic coke sign tends to turn everything around you an interesting shade of orange.
- Pros: pulled pork, mojitos, bartenders, neon coke sign
- Cons: burgers, fries
