Delicious Food, $4 frozen caipirinhas!!
by schironicole
Menu is simple but diverse, from crepes to interesting Brazilian snacks and entrees. Everything seemed to have that real home-cooked taste to it....yum. Can't get over the caipirinhas, and the frozen ones are only $4--so in the budget. The brigadeiro cake is to DIE FOR!!!!!!!! Must try!
- Pros: reasonably priced, casual, great food, must-have desserts
- Cons: garden only open in the summer
Franco-Brazilian cuisine in a quaint cafe
by Melanie Berliet
Tucked away in a neighborhood that boasts restaurants with bigger reputations, this café is a pleasant departure from the typical West Village scene. The setting is living room-like, with comfy pillows atop wooden benches and candles that flicker inside miniature brown paper bags, providing just the right lighting. Seating may be a bit tight when the small cafe is crowded, but that only adds to the intimate charm. Accents like carved wooden monkeys pay homage to La Palette’s partly Brazilian roots, but the menu reflects its French heritage, with tasty, affordable dishes like salade nicoise and jambon fromage crepes.
Don't Go!

Ok, so I used to go here a lot, years ago, loved the food and the staff was just OK. Went there again recently and the waitress did not understand what I wanted to drink (didn't know what a Tangueray and Tonic was even after I pointed to the bottle at the bar) . The manager was snobby and very unfriendly. I was going to order food but with that type of service, i got out of there as soon as my watered down drink was done. I don't think she understood what I wanted and gave me a Seltzer instead, but charged me for the drink. Oh and the drinks are expensive.
- Pros: Looks Nice
- Cons: Service, Staff, Drinks

Only for Caipirinhas!
by sashiwa
The caipirinha is the only thing I'd highly recommend. (It was just like being on Ipanema) Aside from the collard greens being very fresh, the food was overall...underwhelming. Food here is made only for the "Palette" not the SOUL!
I came specifically for the farofa....it was poor quality and kind of undercooked (what's with the raisins?) The pao de queijo tasted like stinky cardboard. The feijoada meat was REALLY fatty and bony; kind of a rip-off. You should be able to sink your teeth into the meat in that stew. The staff was cold & snobby and didn't quite "go" with the down-home-relaxed brazilian atmosphere. If you're going to spend close to $20 on an entree for authentic Brazilian food, you need more than music and decor to feel like you're in Brazil, you need to feel it in your gut as well as your "palette!" Go somewhere else!
- Pros: Caipirinhas, Collard Greens, Decor
- Cons: Feijoada, Farofa, Pao de Quiejo, Service, Prices
Good Food, Great Drinks

My friend lives in the West Village and took me here for drinks recently. What a deal, $3 mojitos & margaritas during Happy Hour. It was nice that day too so we enjoyed our drinks in the garden. Friendly service as well.
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Happy Hour, Outdoor Garden
Very Nice Spot!

I've eaten at La Palette several times and find the food to be very good and the ingredients very fresh. I've also eaten there for brunch and sat in the outdoor garden which was lovely. The service was excellent as well. Highly Recommended.

Rip off/poor customer service
by pwguy
I had brunch there recently. The menu said that brunch included a drink (cocktail or juice) and coffee. Instead of either of these, I ordered an iced tea. When the bill came, I was surprised to find that I had been charged $3.50 for the iced tea, on top of the $15.00 for the brunch. When I asked the waiter why, he said that the iced tea was not included with the brunch. When I asked him why he didn't tell me I would be charged extra, he said that he didn' t have to say anything because the menu did not list iced tea as a drink that was included with brunch. When I asked to see the manager, he said the manager was not in. I said that in my experience, most restaurants would not charge extra in a situation like this. He said there was nothing he could do. I would suggest that the manager of La Palette teach the staff how to better treat the customers so that they come back. It's called "customer service". I, for one, will not be returning.
Cozy Gem in the West Village
by Toga342
Happened upon La Palette one day. What a find! A cozy little neighborhood bistro serving delicious foods in a comfortable environment. There is a garden in the rear which is perfect for relaxing while enjoying your lunch or a drink. Highly recommended.
- Pros: Food, Ambiance
