Tasty, Friently, and Fun
by CookThis
Went on a date here with my gf. The staff was SUPER nice and friendly. Our waiter was fun and offered great recommendations. The wine was priced low but was amazing. Had the crab cakes app, not the best but were still good...then had the fondu dinner and it was very good. Didnt have room for desert. The space has nice decor but is a little cold and bland.
- Pros: Friendly staff, cheap good wine
Excellent Eats!
by Ceo903
The mussels are among the best I've ever had (including in Ireland!). The broth just begs for a ton of their fresh bread to sop it up. The cheese plate boasts a great selection and combine and complement well. Service was great, epecially since the place was nearly empty. The atmosphere is warm and inviting- we will visit again during our next trip to the city.
- Pros: Great service, nice atmosphere
- Cons: Limited wine selection for the truly dedicated oenophile
Great place to eat!
by peter bbb
Food is delicious with an amazing menu! There's something for everyone! Ordered mussels and cheese fondue for appetizer, and for entree, we had the meat fondue.... all absolutely delicious. No complaints! Great ambience! Great place to go with friends, on a date, or even with a group!
- Pros: best mussels in town
To avoid if you are looking for a Real Meat Fondue
by Emm8nuelle
I have to say that paying $35 for boiled meat is crazy...Partly our fault for being used to a real Meat Fondue (meat cooked in oil) and not paying attention to the menu where it says "served with Beef Broth". We decided to give it a try but were so disappointed that we asked the waiter if anything could be done he could not take any initiative and had to ask the maitre d' . She was not very helpful herself, saying it was indicated in the menu that the meat fondue were served with beef broth . She said she could not do anything. Not very accommodating. We asked her if our meat could be cooked maybe like a stri-fry or with butter in a pan, She reluctantly said yes and came back with a disgusting plate of flavorless cooked meat (as bad as the boiled meat). You have to know the real Meat fondue cooked in hot oil gives the meat a crispiness and delicious flavor that can NOT compare to beef cooked in boiled broth(which doesn't get hot enough).
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
- Pros: Good Cheese Fondues
- Cons: Meat Fondues=Boiled Meat
"Brilliant Choice" for a great evening.
by nycjoyboy
I was looking for an interesting choice for a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. I found Swizz through an online search, and obsessively checked as many reviews as possible. (one of the guests in our party is notoriously "difficult" in his food opinions.)
I must say that the entire evening was excellent. From the professionalism to the response of my online reservation, I sensed this would be a great evening, and I was not disappointed. Upon arrival, the host was incredibly warm and charming (and good looking too!) And helped us choose a nice Riesling as we waited for our guests to arrive. We decided to have fondue for each course (Cheese, Chinoise, and Chocolate). The cheese fondue (Napoleon) was gorgeous! It had a perfect consistency and had depth of flavor that was not overpowering. Clearly, excellent quality of ingredients went into the dish. (As a side note, my partner who really hates cheese gave the Napoleon a try and loved it!) and we decided to try the Raclette, which was very good, and a unique taste of the traditional Swiss dish. For Desert, we had the Toblerone and the Jacques Torres. Both of which were both euphoric.
The ambiance of the space is perfectly comfortable, and the staff is incredibly accommodating. A lovely menu without being too fussy. Perfect for conversation and enjoying each other?s company.
This was a great experience. Highly recommended. I'll absolutely return.
- Pros: Excellent food, service, and comfortable ambiance
- Cons: none, really.
Mediocre Food, Way Too Pricey
by HeyNow15
The food was very very bland. Our fondue had had almost no flavor, and the sauces were decent but didn't overcome the blandness. It wasn't that the food was bad... it just wasn't really anything. It definitely was not worth the $100 tab for two people. If you're looking to spend this kind of money, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.
Also, the place smelled like stale cheese.
- Pros: The food has no flavor, so it can't taste bad.
- Cons: It is extremely overpriced. Expect to pay triple digits for bland food.
Maybe Next Time...

I'm not really a fan. Bad ser vice for one. We ordered a few courses and from appetizers to entrees we had to wait forever. They had cleared one an it was literally 20 minutes before anything else came out. That normal? I know we're supposed to savor the wine but I wasn't e ven that into the wine. I don't know what our server was doing but she seemed more interested in talking to the other servers than in helping us. And they weren't e ven busy so it's completely inexcusable.
- Pros: wine
- Cons: service
Odd place...wouldn't recommend

We went here for a friend's bday to have fondue. The appetizers came and the food was OK. We'd ordered a bottle of wine and I drank about a half glass and my friend about a fourth when we both ended up with fruit flies in our glasses. We alerted who I think was the host - some small, weird Swiss guy. Anyway he basically said he would either give us each a different glass of wine each (remember we still had most of our bottle left), simply remove the flies from the glass and bring them back to us (the most suprising and disgusting option presented) or we would have to pay for a whole new bottle. It was so weird. I've never had an experience like this in a restaurant. Normally they would just replace the bottle no questions asked. We certainly didn't put the flies in our glasses. This little Swiss midget basically told us the flies would just come back so we have to pay fhalf for the open bottle plus the new one. It was really a weird and uncomfortable situation. To the waiter's credit he ended up bringing us glasses of wine and discounted the bottle 15% not what most places would do but better than having a fly removed from your glass and brought back to you.
The food was OK but someone in our group said the fondue smelled like a$$. Later on our stomaches were doing a dance. We probably should have gone to Artisinal but the reviews on here weren't so great so we thought Swizz would be good. Honestly, I would skip this place the food was just OK and this place is just too weird and gross to even bother with. Honestly, with options like we were presented with about the flies who knows what else goes on this place. Yuck. If you want low-key fondue and drinks try Honey on 14th Street.
- Pros: We have a odd and somewhat funny story to tell and our waiter was nice
- Cons: Everything else
OK date place
by Gregwinter
I was there on a date and it was an OK setting. It was dark and romantic inside with the red lined walls but it felt overdone. The front area of the bar was cramped but there were plenty of seats in the back.
Highly recommended!

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Swizz last Saturday night ...We were celebrating my husband?s Birthday. We started with the chicken-duck and black truffle pate with apple celery salad. Followed by the traditional cheese fondue with apples and air-dried beef. The bottle of white wine from Switzerland, recommended by our waiter, worked perfectly with our amazing fondue. We finished our meal with a wonderful chocolate Toblerone fondue, with Canadian Ice Wine. Our waiter Iqabal was fantastic ? he was well informed, made excellent recommendations and was very attentive. Overall an excellent meal and we?ll be back again soon!!
