I work in the financial district and decided to give this place a try after walking by one day. You may be hesitant at first-from the outside, it seems cold, unwelcoming, and to be honest, somewhat frightening. However, when you get up to the second floor, the dim candlelight, burning incense, relaxing music, and friendly receptionist will allay all your fears. It's nothing too fancy or frilly. The focus is the massage-the best I've found in New York. Everyone is good (this place seems to mandate that-unlike other places). Jimmy is my favorite, though. If you request it, he can step on you. He does it in a very thoughtful, methodical, and effective way. It always helps to loosen up the very tight muscles in my back. I'm so glad I found this place. It's just what I need after a long, stressful day at work and sitting in front of the computer all day.

Economical, yet AMAZING! I was a little anxious when I first went, but if you can get past the front entrance and dark hallway, the elevator opens up to a nice little place. The receptionists are very welcoming. The place has been accurately described in other reviews with only curtains between the separate massage areas. You can hear noise from other clients and sometimes from staff chatting in the back room. But I dont come here for a spa experience. I come here because they make the permanent knots in my shoulders and upper back go away. You first meet your therapist after you are down to your underwear and under the towel and some can only understand Medium or Hard in reference to the massage pressure. It can be a little painful, sometimes hard to communicate with the therapists, but I always feel better. But dont get frustrated a little patience yields a great reward for an excellent price! If you aren't modest, can be patient and want a terrific massage for your money -this is the no-frills place for you!!!
Pros: Excellent Massage, economical, effective
Cons: Noise from other clients and staff, laguage barrier, very limited space

I am convinced that Jimmy gives the best massages in the world! What else would possess me to travel a total of 4 hours round trip from Philadelphia just to see him?! Right after I graduated from college last year, I developed a severe case of repetitive strain injury (due to excessive computer use, poor posture and stress i suspect) that sent pain, tingling, numbness, and electric shocks throughout my whole body. I went to numerous doctors who were convinced nothing was wrong with me and gave me no hope for relief. I spent a great deal of money $$$ out of pocket on accupuncture and weak massages that offered little help. Luckily, my sister invited me on a trip to Manhattan and that's when I got more relaxation and pain relief in one day than I had gotten in 10 months! Jimmy knew exactly where all my knots were and worked hard to get rid of them... successfully! He is the best! Before I went to SamSun, I was a bit apprehensive about having a male massage therapist, but he is perfectly professional and his hands are very strong. Thank you SamSun. I can use my computer again!
Pros: serene environment, relaxing music, good price
Cons: too far from where I live

work has been so stressful lately and my back was killing me...very tired everyday, so I decided that I need a massage... I found this place after reading all the good reviews and visiting their website....I am happy to say that they are very good!!! It's not the most high-end place, but their work is really phenomenal!!! If you're looking for someone to give you a good massage without all the fancy-schmanzy spa-expensive-looking-stuff...this is the place! Totally recommended.. This is my first massage ever!!!! and I'm already addicted!!
Pros: very reasonable price; friendly staff; great massage
Cons: not the most private (just curtains for doors, but I'm ok with it...maybe you're not)

I wandered into Samsun the other afternoon after work, meaning to just check out prices for future reference, but it was so affordable I went ahead and treated myself! Ladies get 15 minutes for free on their first visit, so I ended up getting 60 minutes of massage for only $40. They were very accomodating for walk-ins, but also take appointments, which may be the option you prefer if you have a favorite therapist (Lucy was great). I was led to a "room" in the back, which was really just a section with a few curtains hanging around it for privacy. Massages are given while you are wearing underwear only, and draped towels will most likely be moved, so this is not a place for modesty. First, I had a 30-minute regular massage (a special Chinese form, not your typical Swedish massage). She used a small amount of oil and got right to work. At Samsun, they call it bodywork, and now I see why: they work hard to get rid of the knots and tension in your body, and if your muscles are tight, it might hurt a bit to loosen them up, but it is well worth it when you walk out! Then I had 30 minutes of foot reflexology which was a real treat. It felt great on my feet and also all over my body as it is a technique to relax the whole body using special techniques. There was soft music in the background that helped you relax and forget about everything else on your mind for awhile. When you leave, they give you a small cup of tea to help get rid of the toxins in your body. You will feel brand new when you walk out!

I walked in with a stiff back & arms hurt; and walked out totally relaxed, with no aches or pains. gosh, she's like a doctor, one with no PHD but has gift -- her hands im talking about. Thank you, Eva, for such a great job u've done. u're genius!! the next day, i recommended my sis' to check out that place, and she did. she had the same girl, and she couldn't stop bragging about how great she was for hours ..........

i work down in the wall st. area and getting to work is always crowded and going home from work as well. my days are long and stressful. Fridays i always stop at samsung body work and get a one hour massage. Its like my most happiest time of the week. I forget about all the work related stress and it makes my weekend peaceful. If i have a crazy weekend i return to samsung body work on monday's and it's like what my doctor could never recommend. When my muscles are tweeked and my circulation increased i think better and i perform to my best at work. Samsung is definitely my happy hour. I recommend you stop in and experience it.
Pros: inexpensive, addictive, professional
Cons: sad when its over, want alittle more, might fall asleep
