After meeting a friend for some afterwork drinks, we quickly left this overrated bar/lounge and made our way around the corner to Lucky Strike, a much more cool and welcoming envoironment. Our negative experience began with the hipster host that avoided eye contact and claimed he could not seat us in any of the empty tables because they were "reserved". He was quite snobish but because the chic patio space interested us, we made our way to the back area where there were a few empy cabana's. A spacey waitress mumbled what appeared to be a sentence asking us if we wanted menus. Then she came back and asked us if we could squeeze into a side chair to leave the love seat open for 3 or more people. If the area was crowded, I might understand, but there were two unreserved cabana's next to ours. Confused and offended, my company and I quickly prepared to finish the drink and jet. Not worth it.

Pros: outdoor space

Cons: inept service

My husband and I had dessert here for our 3rd anniversary. Upon entering the outside dining area the hosts were friendly. We were seated promptly in front at around 9:30pm on Saturday night Memorial Day weekend. Our waitress seemed to be knowledgeable n the menu & drinks but her service was SO BELOW AVERAGE. It took us over 30 min. to received the key lime pie & chocolate tart we ordered. the desserts were sub par; definitely not worth $9 each thou. It took her another 10 minutes to bring us flatware so we could actually eat. The dining area was incredibly smoky due to all the cigarettes which was annoying while eating. Not at all worth the price or susceptibility to lung cancer...at least the atmosphere & decor were nice .

You have got to check this out. We went last summer and it is the most fun and swinging place. Casual, but happening -- I saw at least one celebrity. The drinks are great, the music is cool and dogs are welcome! What's not to like? The service is prompt and friendly and that is saying a lot because it gets quite crowded.

Pros: Thumbs up. This is a great place to hang out. Can't wait til it re-opens May 1

Cons: I can't think of any unless you don't like a happy crowd enjoying great weather. Or you hate dogs.

The place itself is very cute but sooooooo boring! We stayed for 5 minutes and left. No music was playing it was super quiet, people just sat there....maybe its a good place to bring your grandma when she's visiting but not for a date or a night out with girlfriends.

Pros: Boring Crowd, Boring Atmosphere

If you would like to be treated poorly by a host, definitely head to this place. The host at the door/velvet rope was extremely rude to me and my friends; he refused to seat us because he claimed there were no tables available - yet we could see at least 5 open tables - and then proceeded to roll his eyes when we asked how long the wait would be (and avoided answering or making eye contact)... There are some great spots just a block or 2 north where the hosts actually care enough not only to seat your group, but to actually be hospitable as they do...poor soho grand, didn't someone tell you that pretension is out these days?

Pros: outside

The Yard at the Soho Grand has absolutly no appreciation for the fact that they face three residential buildings with occupants that pay already hefty fees for their Soho address. They are in the habit of not responding at all to neighbors complaints of loud music, esp. on Thursday Nights. The place is loud, crouded, filled with smoke to ends up in residents windows, and really not worth the aggrivation. CLOSE THE YARD, and return the neighborhood to those that PAY TO LIVE THERE!

Pros: None

Cons: Noise Pollution

Looking forward to this place opening again, could be that I am over winter... Last summer I enjoyed many an evening sitting outside drinking frozen mojitos, and these fun green tea cocktails and refreshing sangrias. It can get pretty boisterous so get there early as there are only so many seats at the bar, otherwise it is fun to sit on the grass (lounge chairs or blankets!). Who doesn't love BBQ?!

Pros: inventive cocktails, frozen mojitos, bartenders

Cons: can get busy

Editor's Review

A festive outdoor setting for summer cocktails.  See the full editorial review.
