Really Downhill

44 1/2 used to be a great place, but recently I have become disturbed by my experiences with the restaurant. What once was a great place to get brunch is now a major disappointment. I can only expect that there is a serious lack of attention to detail (or other distractions) by the owners.

Great Little Place - Atmosphere & Inexpensive

This is the way little NY restaurants should operate. The staff (in shirts that have cutsie, suggestive words) is friendly and professional without taking themselves too seriously. Although you may think you need to be a "creative" type to eat here, it is for everyone and the food is outstanding without being expensive. Can't say enough about this great Hell's Kitchen spot! Part of me wants to keep it a secret!

Also, Nizza (down the street heading north) is similarly inexpensive with great food. Hell's Kitchen is getting hot!

WHO COULD ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE?

Wanted to share a post-gallery cocktail and drink with a friend. The restaurant came highly recommended and with good cause. Immediate seating (7:30 p.m.), a perfect cocktail and really excellent food that actually came to the table hot. The service was friendly yet professional and the charming owner stopped by the table for a pleasant but brief chat. Great value for the money. Looking forward to trying it for weekend brunch.

44 1/2 is always a favorite for a nice quiet dinner. Great food, relaxing environment. Beautiful bathrooms. Definitely check it out.

Good food, nice ambience

Best restaurant in midtown west. Been there many times and they never failed me. Service is excellent too. EVERYTHING there is good!

Elegant, romantic, creative, fun

My husband and I love it. I'm fresh-off-the-boat Italian, and that's where I take all my European friends who come visit. The cuisine is modern American/international. Their fillet mignon sandwich is so tender and tasty, and so beautifully presented, that my mouth waters just thinking about it. Their stick is pink, so very cute waiters serve you with a lovely, genuine smile and pink T-shirts. I always have their pink lemonade, so refreshing and elegant. Their garden makes you think you are in some quaint European city. The decor is very sophisticated and elegant.

Fantastic Food & Ambiance

This used to be my the spot to go whenever my boyfriend and I wanted dinner somewhere with great food without getting all dolled up. The menu is creative, breakfast here on weekends is great and in the summer their outside area is really cute. I'm no longer with that guy so it hurts too much to go back but I will definitely miss the great food and kind servers.

good food, great peronsable service, fabulous garden

Went there for the first time - was a friday night. had really great service - totally personable (and not just your regular kiss-butt style). had the outstanding goat cheese medallion salad. other guests with me enjoyed the filet - all three of them enjoyed it thoroughly and the waiter was diligent enough to even inspect the cooked-ness of everybody's steak. garden looks like it would be fabulous for a private party. definitely going to return even though it's not in a neighborhood that i typically frequent

Outstanding service and scene

The branding is genius (servers wear tshirts with one word witty phrases on each side ) and the business cards are little pink squares. Great, affordable food/chic decor-and patrons are very social. I have been twice and loved it! The opening lotus tea is stunning-the tea bundle opens as it brews in your cup...the staff really makes the place-good team service and lots of personality.

great find at hells kitchen

ive been in the industry for over 10 yrs its always great to find a nice litttle place doing their thing and doing it at a high level , service is outstanding and the food was great, must leave room for dessert , great place before a show
