Flying Through the Air with the Greatest of Ease
by esmith09 at Citysearch
i love going to cities and trying atypical things. this is certainly one of them. i had a blast. i didn't attend the class with anyone but made friends easily. the staff was very nice, funny and helpful with regards to helping us learn the basic stuff. i'm not afraid of heights but my nerves did get the best of me each time i stood on top of the platform, looked out at the Hudson and thought about the task at hand, with the breeze blowing. you just go for it and listen/follow the instructions and then, VOILA!, you are done. this is such an exhilirating feeling! my only wish is that they would open a school closer to me in Atlanta. i would do this every weekend!
- Pros: outside location, knowledgeable staff, can-do atmosphere
- Cons: wish that they would open a school in Atlanta
Amazing Experience

This is one of the most fun things I've ever done in NYC. Someone told me about it and I was a little scared but thought it would be fun to talk about so I just did it. In the two hour class I learned to do two tricks and I'm not really as physically fit as I thought I needed to be. There were people of all ages and levels and my aerial photo will proudly be in my living room forever!
Many thanks.
- Pros: Great People - Fun Time - Memorable
- Cons: None
Fly high above the Hudson River at this unique outdoor school.

In Short
Ever thought about throwing it all away and joining the circus? This seasonal school makes the dream possible, without the tiger detail. Adventurers of all skill levels and ages (6 and older) try their hand at the flying trapeze, static trapeze and skills and ropes. The picturesque skyline views are an added bonus.
Beware the Cancellation Policy & Very Sick Guests
by griersda at Citysearch
My wife and I were very excited to try out trapeze for her birthday. Unfortunately, the night before we were to go, she became extremely ill. I tried to contact TSNY at 9 in the morning to let them know that with great regret we would have to cancel the reservation, as my wife was not up to doing it and we would prefer not to get others ill. After multiple calls, I was finally able to get a manager, Anne, on the phone. We did not want a refund, but instead wanted to re-schedule, as, again, my wife really wanted to try it.
Rather than permit us to re-schedule or grant a refund, I was treated extremely rudely by the manager and was told in no uncertain terms that they did not care. Rather, they wanted me to leave my sick wife alone at home for two hours while I did the activity she had really wanted for her birthday. I understand the policy is 72 hours' notice, but that is not always possible. Had she said that they just couldn't break policy, that would have been fine. Instead, I was presented with the tired opportunity cost argument that they would lose $172. In an attempt to reason with her, I mentioned that restaurants face the same risks and yet are understanding. She replied, "What about theaters? Or sporting events?" I was astonished that she was going to argue with me, and when I told her I was not going to get into a fight, she responded that "I started it." Apparently, we had now regressed to 5th grade. Take my money, that is fine.
To those who are considering going, it may be fun (I wouldn't know), but beware the 72-hour cancellation policy, the extremely rude and juvenile management, and very sick customers there only because they didn't want to lose $172.
I can assure you, if that is how their management treats guests, I will not be going back. Thankfully, I live in NYC, which has more than one trapeze school.
- Pros: Never found out
- Cons: Extremely rude management and cost
