French Pop not Hip Hop
by Angie05gt at Citysearch
This is NO LONGER the cool hip hop place that people have commented about. It is under new management and it now has a dark feeling to it. The decor is nice but the music is more of Nina Simone and french pop. They don't serve mixed drinks. Its not a party spot. Alittle weird and shady. Nice back room tho.
- Pros: Back Room
- Cons: Music, atmosphere,
Such a good time

I had my bday party here and it was perfect... they held the back room for us, the owner was more than attentive- all night he made sure everyone was happy and if there was anything at all that we needed it was done. The music was on point all night, my friend is a hiphop connoisseur and was in heaven. Prices were very reasonable, especially for Manhattan. All my guests had a great time- hope 2 make this a regular late night stop on my weekends
- Pros: GOOD HIP-HOP, friendly service, good crowd
- Cons: none!
Great time, chill crowd

Went for the first time Friday night and loved it. The dj was awesome... music wasnt all mainstream top 40s, was classic, real hiphop, a little bit of 80s and some funk in there too. Small space but it wasnt too crowded. Loved the crowd, no Bridge and Tunnels, just people trying 2 have a good time. Pole in the back room looks like it may be dangerous after a few drinks... Will be going back soon!
- Pros: Good music, good crowd, cool design
- Cons: Small space may get overcrowded on a busy night

King Size is my local hangout. It's a great place for after work happy-hour specials and the best bartender around! Highly recommended.
- Pros: Great bartender, good happy hour specials
- Cons: Closed on Sundays
THE PLACE TO BE

I celebrated my birthday at King Size on Saturday night and had a FABULOUS time!!!! Big shout out to bigjosh420 for his review which prompted me to check out the place and celebrate here (great to meet you and thanks for the tequila shots). Danny- the owner, hooked me and my guests up with the VIP room-which was equipped with a pole for amateur strippers like myself- the DJ was great, drinks were good and the atmosphere couldn't have been better!! If you are looking for an intimate, laid back place with no dress code, cover or drama, then King Size is where you need to be. Check it out- I will be going back!!!!
- Pros: No parking problem, great service, great music

KING SIZE IS THE REAL NEW YORK

I threw my 21st bday party at king size last night. It was incredible! The owner Dan is a great guy. A super hot bartendress served up delicious and fairly priced drinks all night. The DJ was off the hook! There is no question that this is the hottest spot in the LES right now! If you like the chill lounge atmosphere with a great crowd of people definately check this spot out! But dont get there before me cause I want the VIP room!!!! KING SIZE IS MY HOME AWAY FROM HOME NOW!!!! SEE YOU THERE!
That's what I'm talking about...

I've been looking for my spot for a long time and finally found it tonight. Booked a party on the spot! Back room is cozy and perfect for a small gathering plus the front room is chill and the drinks are perfection.
- Pros: music, cocktails and beer, clientele
- Cons: cabs on the way out, leaving, no shows
Hidden Jewel

Great little spot. Small but wasnt too packed. Drinks are cheaper then the rest of LES. Really good music. I think they have a DJ most nights. Very unpretentious. I never realized a place so small can have so many nooks to hide out in. Definitely worth the trip.
- Pros: Music, Mod Priced Drinks, Bartender
- Cons: A bit far south
An intimate space that pushes the boundaries of the Lower East Side.

"King size" is definitely a play on words here. At first glance, the small bar appears to be like any other chill neighborhood spot. Its exposed brick walls, low lighting and comfy stools make it easy to sidle up to the bar and stay a while. Past the front bar, however, two more intimate nooks hide. One raised slightly above the bar shares space with a DJ booth and has low seating. The other--sunken in the back--feels like a private party room; its walls are covered in a red, green and white leafy motif, and plush seating rims the room. Weeknights pull in a mixed, relaxed late-night crowd representative of the neighborhood, and weekends feature DJs playing funk, hip-hop and broken beat.
