Delicious Burgers!
by ADBeachGirl
Yum yum yum! I thought we have great burgers in Cali, but this place really matches up! The line was really long, but it was so worth it! The burgers tasted really fresh and I topped it off with some frozen custard.
- Pros: Yummy Food
- Cons: Long Line
Don't Believe The Hype
by justrobnj
I don's get it. I was lured in by the Shake Shack hype. After a 45 minute wait, I picked up a "Chicago" style hot dog and a lemonade. The hot dog was mediocre at best, and didn't even have the proper "sport peppers" that are a quinessential ingredient in a Chicago dog. The lemonade was nothing to write home about. Service was poor at best, and resembled a high school cookout. No wonder the lines are so long. Save your time and money and walk on by.
- Pros: Bragging about how you went to Shake Shack
- Cons: Long line, Lousy Hot Dogs, Slow service
Love the concept but ...
by eaweisser
The concept is great ... on both 23rd Street and on the Upper West Side. Affordable tasty grilled burgers and wonderful custard shakes. The open out of doors seating on 23rd street and the efficiency of the production line. That said, I'm concerned about the quality control. Both locations are so crowded, burgers are coming off the line under-cooked. This has happened more than once with members of my group. I fear that the popularity of this place is causing a rush on food production. Not a good thing.
- Pros: Yummy custard
- Cons: Long waits
Best burger in town

A great place to enjoy a summer evening eating delicious burgers, cheese fries and their yummy shakes! The lines get long but it's definitely worth the wait. A definitely must!
Worth the wait for shakes, burgers, cheese fries...
by lizzyred8
Enjoying this beautiful October weather, the Shake Shack is a great choice for a delicious for an alfresco dinner in the heart of NYC. Shack-toberfest is offering additional beers as well as sausage/bratwurst options. The hopscotch is delicious, as well as the shack burgers and cheese fries. Definitely a must-try.
- Pros: Brugers, fries, shakes
- Cons: long wait -but worth it!
Delicious burgers! Great scenery!
by dy8380
My date and I went there this past Saturday because we had heard so much about it from our friends and from various websites. We wanted to see what the hype was all about. When we got there, the line was fairly long, but not as bad as we had thought it would be. We waited in line for approximately 25 minutes and placed our orders. We ordered two single stack burgers, an order of fries, and a drink. We sat down in the restaurant eating area while waiting for our order. The seating area of the restaurant is actually inside the park and very relaxing. The "restaurant" was also very clean and family friendly. It is definitely a place I would go if I just wanted to enjoy the great weather and scenery.
Our buzzer shook after 5-10 minutes to notify us that our order was ready. There is a condiment stand right by the place where you pick up your orders so that customers would be able to get different condiments and utensils to eat there or to take out. It was all very convenient and organized. After getting our condiments, utensils, and napkins, we went back to our table and took a bite of the burger. It was MOUTHWATERINGLY delicious. I am literally salivating just thinking about the Shake Shack burgers. It was THAT good. The fries were also very good and we definitely had an excellent experience. It is definitely WORTH THE WAIT and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to any of my friends, relatives, strangers, etc.!
- Pros: DELICIOUS burgers, Scenery
- Cons: long wait
Awesome Burgers, Long Line
by rondubbs
Got there at 6:15 on a Wednesday night and waited 45 minutes to place my order. The line keeps growing so try to get there as early as possible. Other than that, everything else was great - outdoor dining and amazingly delicious burgers, fries and beer. The burgers come neatly packed in wax paper. Other burger places you go to give you the burger and it falls apart after picking it up, not here. These burgers had no grease and were tightly packed with amazing flavor. I'd also suggest having a buddy jump on the super fast moving B Line to get some beers to drink while you are waiting to place your order on the burger line.
- Pros: Amazingly Delicious Burgers
- Cons: Long Wait
Best Burger in the planet
by troostj
I love this place. The burgers always taste fresh and are cooked to perfection. I suggest getting two shack burgers instead of a double. The shroomburger is also good, interesting concept and very tasty. Love it here. Best place to chill in a nice summer night.
- Pros: Great location, pretty
- Cons: long wait
Fabulous NYC summer experience worth trying if only once!
by sharopooks
After hearing about this place, reading all the reviews & checking out the menu, we just had to check this place out... the food sounded fun & delicious & the fact that the lines are so long count for something, right?! We came here post-work (6:15ishPM) on a summer weeknight anticipating the wait we had heard about... ended up waiting for about an hour. Once you're up there ordering, the staff is friendly & efficient (plus there's a bit of pleasure looking back at the long line you're at the front of!). The burgers did not disappoint... they are tasty & perfectly cooked! Not the best burger we've ever had, but certainly up there! Fries were good too. The hubby & I both ordered Shack Attack Concretes (like frozen custard Blizzards of mixins)...decadent & delicious but we could've easily shared just one! Overall, it was a great experience! Mind you, we aren't racing back here anytime soon...we enjoyed our food & time in the park but it's not really worth the wait on a frequent basis unless you have all that time to burn...either make this a once-a-summer thing or utilize the Shack Cam on the website & come here during an off-hour when the line is shorter. This is one of those New York-y things worth trying at least once!
- Pros: FOOD (burgers, frozen custard, fries), outdoor location great on nice days
- Cons: As everyone has said, the LONG LINE
