They are really clean and friendly at this place. I've taken my dogs elsewhere and most places are stinky and small. Happy Paws sleeping quarters are so large it really makes a difference bringing my dogs here because when they come back they do not stink and they do not seem stressed. I have used them for the past year many times and my dogs always look forward to staying there. Strongly recommend and you have to go to other places to compare to know the difference of how great this place is.
Pros: Large place, clean

Great variety of things to buy for my yorkie. She loves to come here and try all different clothing! I love their daycare because I get to see her play on the webcam. Their manager Allen is very patient and knowledgeable.
Pros: Webcams, Location, Price

This place is dirty and has awful customer service. My dog came home after staying there so sick that my vet was forced to admit him over night. Not only was my dog sick he was extremely sad and upset. Besides the obviously unsanitary conditions of this place; the front desk is the worst I have ever experienced. They are rude; uneducated and not attentive at all. They barely answer questions and act annoyed at everything. I would never recommend this place for anything. The only pro is the location. I wish someone would buy this place gut it and actually have a good daycare with people that actually like animals.
Pros: LOCATION
Cons: everything but the location

Took my 7 month old shitzu for a grooming @ this place and almost ended slapping one of the employees. There is just a lack of enthusiam in this place as well as manners. The problem betwen myself and the employees came about after i heard her slurring and mumbling some comments on y dont I just get a pair of scissors or something along with some profanity. This place is definately a no go, esp. if you care about tou dog. I can only imagine what goes on when the owners are not around...
Pros: very nice facility
Cons: everything else

What a disappointment!!!! My fiance and I wanted to take our 4 month old puppy to the puppy kindergarten class at Happy Paws. When I spoke to them on the phone, they assured me my puppy had all the shots he needed to attend the class. When we got there, the manager we dealt with was beyond rude and disrespectful. I had the vet's paperwork to prove that he had all the shots he needed but because the vet hadnt checked off the specific shots, she wouldnt let us attend. It was clear in black and white that he had the shots he needed but she decided to be rude and difficult about the whole thing. Then to make matters worse when she told us he couldnt attend the puppy class, then she didnt want to refund me the $100 deposit I put down! She finally did but that was after much protest on my part. When my fiance asked her to explain exactly why we couldnt attend the class, she got nasty with him and slapped his hand when he wanted to take her picture for his records. The police had to be called and we had to file an assault record! It was an absolute horrible experience, one I don't wish on anyone. This manager was rude, unkind, unsympathetic, unreasonable, and violent to my fiance. No one should go to this horrible place!
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Wher do I start, rude and disrespectful staff.

I have been using happy paws for several months. I am really impress with how friendly their staff is with me and my dog. They have a guy name Alan there that is really knowledgeable. Each morning I drop off my dog, they come right out to greet me. I really trust my dog there because one time I made a reservation for boarding and did not realized the vaccinations were expired. They called me after recieving my email, they reminded me which vaccinations were expired and also went over my dog's feeding schedule! As for my dog, she can't wait to get there everyday and since this summer has been so hot, it is comforting that she is getting the exercise she needs. I would definitely recommend buying a bulk daycare package to save money if you are planning to use their services more than once a week.
Pros: friendly, helpful and clean
Cons: so far none!

Beware of the hype!! In spite of the warning I received from someone who worked at HP (they said to never bring your dog there especially during the holidays as the dogs are neglected and the staff will cram several dogs into one crate/kennel to maximize revenues). Anyway, after a conversation with Ben and faxing over the vaccination certificate, I brought my 4 1/2 month old puppy to HP for his "interview" today so I could board him. I cancelled all of my plans for the day, got the car, drove the dog down to Soho. While there, I filled out a 3-page application prior to the "staff" evaluating my dog. Finally, the staff person takes the dog in the room, weighs him and then asks me how long I've had him (mind you, I've told them 10x that he is 4 1/2 months old). I've had him 2 1/2 months (you usually can't get a dog before 8 wks). Well, they rejected my dog. Why? B/C I didn't own him for a solid 3 months (mind you we are talking days here). Their answer? Company policy-they weren't confident that I really "knew the dog" in spite of the fact I'm with him all day everyday for more than half his life. Have you ever heard of such insanity or stupidity? Plus, why isn't this on their website? Why didn't someone tell me this after phone conversations and the vet certifications? More importantly, the policy doesn't guarantee ANYTHING. What do you call a policy that is created for a policy's sake and has no bearing on reality? Stupid -- which includes the person who created it and the company that enforces it. I couldn't possibly bring my puppy to a place that is run by a bunch of idiots and would encourage any reader not to risk your dog's well being. You really have to be concerned where there is no room for indepdent thought. In short, the staff, the owners and the management (Helen, Allen, Ben and the like) should be in the cages while the dogs sit at the front desk.
Pros: None to speak of
Cons: Idiots Are Running the Place -- Go to Canine Ranch, Paws Inn Chelsea

There aren't many dog boarding places that are built like happy paws. They have the dogs sleep and eat in their own kennels which gives me a peace of mind that Jazzy won't get into a fight if she is trying to eat her homemade food. I used them when I go away on busy holidays and it is great to know that when there are so many dogs there at the same time, she will have her own kennel to sleep in instead of constantly being bothered by other dogs. I have a older yorkie mix and she needs more down time so I can request to have her out of daycare and into her own kennel to rest. I know she is getting her rest because I would see her in the webcams only half of the day. I have tried other dog boarding places and I worry about giving her homemade meal and having other dogs attack her for it. This is the best place in Manhattan.
Pros: Separate sleeping/eating area for each dog

I have been using them for daycare and boarding ocassionally and I have had good experiences so far. Unlike the other place I have been to, Happy Paws is clean, spacious and has webcams so I dont have to wonder if my dog is playing or not. The employees have been very helpful and even waited for me to pick up my dog when i was running late from work. The bottom line is my dog comes home happy and is always looking forward to spend the day there.
Pros: Clean, spacious, webcams
