Nothing Spectacular
by PJulie at Citysearch
Nothing spectacular to write home about. We wanted to try Turquoise from all the raves we have heard from many others. To our surprise, the food was just eh...i've had better. We ordered the calamari, I had the sea scallop...it was ehhhh...
The decor is cute....but for food...I'd go somewhere else.
Good Restaurant
by marcpay68 at Citysearch
I really liked the ambiance and location of this restaurant. Very hip older 20s and young 30s scene. The food was good but not "oh my god...out of this world!!!!" I enjoyed their appetizers more than I did their entrees but that always seems to be the case with me and Mediterranean food. The wine list was fantastic. Overall a good restaurant....still waiting for a Mediterranean restaurant to WOW me
- Pros: ambiance,food
- Cons: small

excellent seafood, mediterannean cuisine and service that pampers you

Me and my wife went for our 7th wedding anniversary. The place looks small from the outside. Not a place you would walk into as its on a bylane. But inside its warm and the turquoise blue color and the bar invites you in. The owner is exceptionally nice and friendly and invited us in by "Welcome to my home". He then went and made 2 portions of 2 different dishes as we were unable to choose between the 2 . Iam not a big fan of white wine but their choices were very good and I enjoyed my wine for a change. The Grouper Carpacio for a starter was excellent. My wife loved her Goat cheese salad. We got the fresh Chilean sea bass in 2 flavours in separate portions and it was heavenly. The Crepe cake for desert was amazing. Its restaurants like Turquoise that makes it worth living in the NY area.
- Pros: excellent food and service that truly pampers you
- Cons: its a small place
Best Fish i've ever Eaten!
by stager28 at Citysearch
I have walked passed Turquoise many times before finally stepping inside. If I had known this would be one of the best dinner i'd ever eat in NYC, I'd have gone in years ago! You have never tasted Sea Bass, Scallops, Tilapia, Tuna like they cook here. Make friends with owner Sammy and request that he build a special dish for you -- trust, you wont regret it!
- Pros: Wine List, Fresh Fish, Friendly Staff, Clean Enviornment
- Cons: none!
Best Mojitos in NYC
by davkin at Citysearch
Our favorite bartender is BACK!! My wife and i often go to Turquoise for the fantastic fish, but over the summer my wife has missed the bartenders famous Mojitos. He is back now and my wife loves it. We have been going there for 2 years and it leaves all other seafood restaurants for dead. If you haven't been, you are missing out on a great meal and the chance to meet the crazy but very friendly owner, Sammy. He is a blast. We often eat at the bar but over the summer we sat at a table. Everybody takes care of you, from the friendly waiters, gracious manager, our favorite bartender and of course the crazy owner. I dont usually write reviews but my wife insisted. If you are looking for great food, great service and great drinks go to turquoise. 5 stars
- Pros: Best drinks, Great service
- Cons: It gets crowded so you have to make reservations even for the bar
Perfect

Turquoise was an AWESOME restaurant to go to. Me and my siblings had a birthday dinner there and it couldn't have been better. The space is small, but the decor is calm and relaxing. Turquoise is known for it's fish dishes which are classics and simple in there own way along with a great selection from all over the globe. The food tasted fresh and clean and was served in a timely fashion. Food was also served hot along with a simple side of vegetables and white rice, sides that won't take away from your main entree's flavor and purpose. The manager and wait staff were all very welcoming and polite, professional in every way. Overall we had a great dinner with great food!
- Pros: fish, drinks
Not the same as it used to be:

Turquiose changed management sometime this past Fall (2008). If you used to go all the time under the previous managament like I did, the changes are a huge disappointment. Now it's kosher so obviously there is no shrimp, it seems like there are less fish options, much more meat has been added to the menu. They changed the delicous bread, and none of that yummy rice is served with your entree. They won't cook the fish to the temperature you like. And it's not cooked simply where you really taste to the fish. It is seasoned as you can get anywhere in the city.
My meal was good and if you never went there under the old management you might really like. I probably won't go back b/c I really liked it for all the little things they took away. (I'm not even going to get into the service) I thought it was perfect before, 'if it's not broke don't fix it.'

Fabulous
by nycgoodfood at Citysearch
I was told the fish at Turquoise is one of the best in the city and it is... Then on my second visit at turquoise I had lamb chops to check if the quality of the meat is as phenomenal as the freshness of the fish and I happened to enjoy the best lamb chops in the city.
Highly recommended

You want it, you got it

This city has so much good food, but how often do you get to eat great food and feel as though you, not the dish you ordered are the center of attention. I have had good and bad service experiences all over the city, but Turquoise takes service to another level. No stiff server rattling on about incoherent details, just honest exhuberance from the owner and staff about creating the perfect meal for you. Thanks guys.
- Pros: Whole fish
- Cons: people will read this review and I'll have to make reservations a week in advance
